Rear Camera Delay does not delay the video feed. It delays the head unit from switching to the backup camera. This is useful when you are shifting a vehicle from drive to park and your shifter goes through reverse. When your vehicle hits reverse it will trigger the back up cam for a split second and may interrupt what is on your head unit. To prevent this you set the rear camera delay. Setting it to 2 seconds would mean the vehicle would need to be in reverse for two seconds before the head unit switches to the backup cam.
Nice, good to know, thanks! 😀
what do you recommend to switch from regular screen to rear view when switching from drive to reverse or parking ?
Probably safer in my opinion

I had the 10 inch version for over a year and i love it, no problems. I hooked it all up myself in my 09 civic and it is a perfect fit, u cannot go wrong with it !!!
I hear the brightness can be pretty bright at night? How’s your experience on that
I can be but you just have to play with it, since it got a daytime and nighttime mode to adjust
Is the sound clear and decent?
Yea sounds good, i run a complete system so i never used the headunit by itself for speakers but it should be better then stock
@@betoortiz9754 i don't wanna just use the headunit either so that's good.
I just installed the 7" (no camera) into my 2016 Scion yesterday. I picked it up from Crutchfield for only $189, complete with installation kit. It sounds much better than the factory unit, with the original speakers. And, CarPlay works perfectly.
@L Ly It's fine. The bigger screen would block my vents. The 7 inch screen is perfectly large enough for my eyes, though.
do you have to have your phone plugged in for carplay or can it work wirelessly
@@jcastillo444 If you have the "ACP" model, you don't have to plug in the phone, it works with BlueTooth.
@L Ly what is the adapter called
Hey man - does this unit have an auxiliary port ?
I bought a $50 Boss unit for an old Rav4 I bought for $800. That damn radio still worked great when I sold it years later.
I've never ever thought about buying a boss anything but this is nice. Used with external amps, why not. Even the 4v preouts are good. Maybe I'll try the 10" in the future
I tried Boss. It’s not nice. I replace it with Pioneer again. The cheapest model of Pioneer.
Omg...you failed to mention the MOST IMPORTANT PART: The floating screen is detachable by pushing 2 little buttons on the back...allowing you to remove the screen to prevent theft. This is a huge plus for people living in California where car theft is rampant.
I wonder if you can change the screen sizes from 10 inch to 14 inch by just snapping it in and not having to change the whole unit
@@demondmccray8582 yes I believe you can.
Very possible @@demondmccray8582
I've heard head unit die and I've recycled the wire harness on same brand stereos
I just bought the 10.1" for my 2011 Toyota Yaris. The radio was dated, and I wanted wireless Android Auto. I installed myself from Crutchfield, and this radio is awesome! Connects quickly and I fell in love with it so much, I am buying a 2nd one but 9" for my Jeep Wrangler. I don't use radio function, I listen to XM from my phone, and this radio Rocks! I love it and can't beat the price. If you are contemplating one of these, jump on it. Great Radios for the average person. Only thing I don't like is no XM Sirius capability, and you can't change to a custom wallpaper. But no biggie, I can live with it especially since I stream XM from my phone anyways.
The smaller screen sticking out a bit further is a selling point for me it will help with clearance in older muscle cars
agreed and for me it being detachable is pretty nice too
Its literally the only touchscreen i can get my 89 buick
Yuuup!! I needed something that stuck out farther as well.
EXACTLY...I'm lookin to upgrade my 91 iroc with this UNIT. I have to get passed the instrument cluster corner, which pokes out 2-3 inches...WISH ME LUCK😂
I'm going to get this floating head unit cause I don't want to put something to expensive in my Mazda CX 5 cause it's a 2013 . I'm glad you guy's did say it was an ok unit.
It’s actually pretty good. I have a Sony in 1 vehicle. I just put this in my tundra. Sounds great, really loud. Apple CarPlay, works better than android auto tho
The mounting position is actually perfect for cars that have a setup where the single din is actually encased in a way. For example, my 95 Honda Civic Del Sol has a single din slot with a lid that is either up fully and conceals the radio to deter thieves when the targa top is off. And slides down so the radio can be accessed.
I think the distance from the display to the unit itself is a perfect amount to get past the "door" and not look like it's sticking out like crazy. Plus its detachable. Lol, i swear id be living in the perfect world if someday the screen was full res, and had HDMI playback. But that's even an industry standard so I can only complain lol.
Was thinking of getting this for my del sol, does it look nice mounted in the sol, any pictures anywhere?
Glad to see we all landed on the same video. Was ALSO thinking of this for my Sol
I like the feature set and while subjective, the cleaner UI design and appearance is much more preferable than the designs in the brand names units.
Installed the BE7ACP in a 98 Corolla and this is a surprisingly nice unit. Solid SQ through RCA outputs (no lowpass filter on front outputs not a weakness since I have a MiniDSP), volume knob (!), AA/CP/Navigation for a 24 year old vehicle, quick navigation with USB / BT streaming sources, and simple installation (all well labelled and minimum chassis depth). Touchscreen quality is where the low cost is noticeable: color depth is poor, view angle not good (though swivel and up/down capability helps) and touch response is slow. Still for under $400, this is a high value alternative for many.
i was thinking about installing this in my 94 corolla did it get in the way of the ac controls and the vents?
Does yours connect right away every time?
I purchased one and Android Auto and Carplay stopped working. The next 2 units they sent wouldn't turn off. They say it's my vehicle's wiring even though first one was fine and reinstalled old stereo and it works fine too. They actually told me to splice red and yellow wires together and if unit comes on then unit is fine. That's the dumbest thing I've heard. It gets power just won't turn off. Don't buy this junk
I’ve had this in my ‘98 Lexus ls400 for a yr. It’s fire. I’m adding fire stick next wkend. I have the 10.1 screen. It looks great and it works really well.
Boss been good since the 90s pull outs with the super bass button. Amplifiers I never had a problem. Always slept on. Now i need one of these. Didn't know they was made in America all this time.
Boss is a great starter stereo for those that want the most basic of sound quality. If it works and the end user is happy with it, I say good for them. Personally, I wouldn’t go with it, but my last aftermarket stereo was an 8 volt Eclipse and my sound expectations are probably different. I’m curious to see what level the Pre-outs clip at. That will tell me a lot about the unit itself. In the end, I revert back to my first two sentences. Kudos for the video and highlighting the product.
Agreed. They have a load of features compared to comparably priced premium brands. And they’ll prob last longer and have better warranty service than Chinese units.
Not everyone cares about getting the best sound quality, they just want convenience and features. This is why TV soundbars dominate the market with those wanting something better than the audio their TV offers. Hardly anyone is buying surround sound systems, let alone dedicated amps and speakers + sub
I have the boss 850acp head unit. Using my dd1+, found out it clips at 46/50 on the rcas
@@abcdefghij2099 that’s actually not too bad. It’s better than I thought it would be.

@@gumbeelee21 Eclipse CD7200 mk II sure as hell did my friend as did others in their product lines. Look it up.
You guys did my stereo system in the 90s when i was stationed in port huemene ca.
I have the bv755b. Not bad for 150. Plays DVD's and CD's perfect. The Bluetooth connectivity is the best I've used to far, always connects to my phone instantly and it's easy to unpair if a friend wants to connect to it. The sound quality is nice but it's pretty quiet, the other boss head unit I had before was much worse overall, but it was as loud at 10/40 as my new one at 40/40. Only real issue is it resets my settings, clock and radio presets at random, which is pretty annoying, overall a good head unit.
Boss and "Elite" are two words to never be used together......
LOL…DEFINATELY…
Haters gonna hate. 🤷♂️
It’s the pioneer Premeir of the buford Highway flea market 😜
Could you explain a little bit more about the HDMI Amazon converter you showed briefly
Just installed this today (BE7ACP). In case anyone wants to know, it’s fine.
Does it lag real bad on maps or just choosing different options?
@@harleyswinger9128 - I haven’t noticed any lag whatsoever. So far I’ve only used Apple CarPlay and haven’t tried Android Auto, but everything feels fast and seems to be working as it should.
If I had to be critical about anything, I would say the bezels sometimes make it hard to tap or swipe things near the edges of the screen. I’m also not a big fan of the blue LEDs on the side buttons, and the “Boss Elite” logo with flames animation that plays whenever you turn it on. This is obviously nitpicking though, and overall I’m happy.
In terms of price/value, I paid $260 for the version that came bundled with a backup camera. If something with a comparable feature set was available from a more reputable brand (Sony, JVC, Kenwood, Alpine) I would probably spend a couple hundred bucks more for the extra polish and piece-of-mind. But I can’t imagine dropping $800-$1200 on a name-brand stereo that isn’t offering anything significantly better or different than this unit for $260.

Hi . Is plant audio and boss the same or share the same technology?
Idk man the last boss double din I had didn’t last a year. It only plays two radio stations, doesn’t play cds anymore, doesn’t pick up the Bluetooth
I feel your pain. We didnt carry them for years but they have improved
you kinda left out a very important (IMHO) feature:
Boss units will let you swipe left/right in Bluetooth mode to change tracks (according to the manuals).
Yes, not everyone has steering wheel controls, and yes not everyone wants to have to look down at a screen just to change tracks.
kinda would have been nice to know for me when I was going through stereo shopping hell awhile back (as in, I would have considered these).
Thank you for the video though - I know it's not your fault that these manufacturers seem to have abandoned all common sense in UX design. ;)
Can you manually select front or rear cameras?
Not sure if my 1995 Isuzu Bighorn has the electrics to notify the system on its own.
Aweaome video, thanks
What apps can u download and does the head units have screen mirroring
Does anyone know if the different size floating displays are interchangeable? I've got the 7" but what if I got my hands on a 9" would I be able to literally just plug in the 9" where my 7" would normally go and would that work? If yes where would I be able to buy the bigger screen?
Great review i'm planning on getting the ten inch version
Just bought BE7ACP-SD. Hope I like it
Nice!! Hope you do too!
@@BreakersStereo I have a question. My car doesn’t have USB, but the stereo does. All I have to do I connect my phone to the stereo though lightning cord and CarPlay will work?
What about a car that already has a back up camera in the stock head unit? Will this unit work with a stock back up camera?
On the video you say hdmi to composite , I guess I’m a lil lost is composite the 1yellow rca?
Or is composite the multicolored rca’s?

Blue
Red … I think?
It looks ideal for the vauxhall vivaro series vans, they have the radio set back in the dash, angle adjustment is perfect for many other cars, this would look great in my mitsubishi lancer, only concern is power output, might have to take advantage of the high volt rca outputs and run through a 4 channel amplifier, the inline pioneer or alpine one be a good solution
Pioneer GM-D1004 or Alpine KTP-455 or kenwood KAC-M1814
I got the 9 inch one from ebay new for $200, I hope it fits without covering my air vents in my 2014 subaru outback.

We have a Ford E450 conversion van on the front of our class C RV. There is a 6.8 inch double din Soundstream system in there right now. It’s OK but I’d like to replace with this. Since we have a double din, does this system come with a cover up plate or would I just need to buy that separately? Do you typically mount a single din receiver high or low or in the middle of a double din opening? Thanks to anyone for comments.
Is there a way to add a volume knob to a stereo that is buttonless? Any recommendations or tips would be great!
Are the screens interchangeable from one size to the next? Can I change a 10 inch floating with a 14 inch by just snapping in the screen?

It’s either this or one of those stinger heigh10 that I’ve come to like..hmmm (I have a 19 Toyota tundra)
Even tho the boss is I guess lower on the list of stereos, I like the simplicity of the layout. Kinda like my iPhone.
Will this work on Mercedes Gle 63s coupe 2018?
Is it normal when you disconnect the head unit that the I am FM radio is still playing out of the speakers?
Will the 9" cover the air vents on a 2013 Tahoe ltz? Also. Will it work with the factory screen I have already? And I have the Bose system, will it work with it or do I need to hook up a Amp?
It's fine for your application. It will work assuming you get the right harnesses.
How did you get it to play video? I bought the exact same Amazon HDMI2AV component as you but had no luck. I went rca to rca on the output and Type C USB to HDMI on the input. I keep getting a "no signal message". Even after I ground the green parking cable. Please help, I would really like to play videos on here. Even my USB says "unsupported USB" when I try to get android auto on.
Ok sounds like a cable issue. Make sure your hdmi to usb-c cable is compatible with the phone you have. When reading the description on Amazon it should say it. Or when you search for it make sure you type in the type of phone you have then make sure it states it’s compatible with it before you buy it. Ok on the android sounds like a cable issue too. Make sure the cable can transfer over data not just a charging cable. We recommend using the cable that came with the phone. Ok hope that helps

What's the best choices for a single din?
i got the same one from amazon on the box it dont say elite boss only should i be worried??
biggest miss for that still listen to radio, the radio interface is cumbersome at best. to get to presets is a two step process every time. and the actual reactive part of the button is tiny causing you to really have to focus on the radio instead of the road just to change channels. 2nd is the volume setting for phone, when answering, it is necessary and takes a while to get volume up high enough to hear the call, regardless of setting adjustments for BT volume in the audio settings.
Thanks for pointing that out! I totally get what you mean about the radio interface-it can be super annoying when presets are buried in menus, and having to focus on tiny buttons while driving is not ideal at all. As for the Bluetooth call volume, it’s frustrating when it’s so low by default, no matter what settings you tweak. Some headunits definitely drop the ball on those features, so it's always good to look for ones that make these basics a bit smoother. Appreciate you sharing your experience-stuff like this really helps others know what to expect!
Can you use Apple car play wireless. I seen some reviews in photos and every time they have it connected to like their charger but I want to be able to use a wireless Bluetooth.

What deck are you showing at 2:56, and what deck are you showing at 3:05? Or am I losing my mind? Are you just demonstrating what inputs look like? 2:56 - two usb ports, 3:05 - no usb ports. Different connectors for the cameras, etc.
I have a 96 XJ. Now I’m concerned with getting an unreputable brand head unit but I don’t wanna bust down 700 dollars for a single din touchscreen. All my speakers are ran to an amp so would I have to be concerned with sound quality? that’s what I’ve heard to be the worst about boss.
Does this support wireless apple carplay?
I wanna know at what volume level it distorts on the RCAs
These videos, being 24fps, look so weird... I wonder if it is the native frame rate or post?
what’s the second stereo you showed in the beginning of the video?
That’s the Joying 10.1
I feel you are much better off with an Android head unit because AA and CP are so limited. I recently bought a 10" Android 12 (or so they claim) head unit with a 10" floating screen QLED display that looks great, DSP chip, wireless AA and CP, 3/32 GB ram, 1080P rear camera, wireless SWC,, 5GHz Wifi, GPS, AM/FM, internal/external mic, and a fast 8-core processor all for much less money than a Boss 8". Boss has been known to have poor sound quality as well as reliability issues.
What brand android unit are you recommending instead of Boss? All I see on Amazon are cheap Chinese knockoffs. The Kenwood is nice but its pricey as hell. I'm looking for something with a volume knob.
@@Jacob-Pogicat There are actually "name brand" Chinese radios like Atoto (which is what I have in my pickup), Joying, Idoing, etc. They are usually cheaper, sometimes much cheaper than the Japanese branded head units and can be excellent. You don't mention what size screen you want, (more on that later), but the Atoto A6PF is probably the best, low-price 7" Android head unit with volume BUTTONS you can buy. Some things to keep in mind: I would HIGHLY recommend that you get a unit with an 8-core processor, get the biggest screen that will fit in/on you dash without blocking thing like vents and controls, (you will might need an after-market dash kit for larger screens), the more memory the better, some junk units only have 1 gig of memory which will get eaten up real fast and make the unit very slow as will a 4-core processor, I know that I'm talking about Chinese units here but avoid the kooky-name units like Hikitty, they sell a ton of radios because they are very low priced but for the most part you really do get what you pay for. Look for reviews on the web and RUclips. Some of the low-price units spoof the version of Android so make sure that you get a unit with a GUARANTEED minimum of Android 10. If you aren't able to install the unit yourself take installation price into consideration, in some cases that can cost more than the radio. Read the specs and features and ask questions before you buy and if you can, find a seller with a return policy.
@@Pro1er 07 Chevy Colorado. Looking at maybe a 8" or 9" floating unit with volume knob. Android auto wireless would be nice, but not a deal breaker
@@Jacob-Pogicat One other thing that I forgot to mention. If you have steering wheel volume controls on your factory radio most, maybe all of the newer Android head units will connect to the factory steering wheel volume controls but some require an optional CANBUS adapter.
@@Jacob-Pogicat Since you're looking for a floating unit you have a lot of options. Just make sure that everything will clear the screen. In one of my other cars I have a 10.1" floating screen that clears my shifter by about 1mm (no lie). Also, some of the floating units are adjustable up-and-down which gives you more installation options. Just my opinion, and yours may be different, my Lincoln SUV came with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but after using Android in my other cars I would never go back to AA or CP, Android has WAY more apps including video apps like RUclips or Netflix which are not allowed on AA or CP. Those can be great if you find yourself sitting in the car waiting on someone or something.

This is not true, BOSS DOES NOT OWN PIONEER

Everybody talks shit on Boss. But you tell me where I can get a headunit with 4 volt pre-outs for under 200$....I got the Soundstream DD7ACP, which is a clone of the BE7CPA. Most cheap units have only 4 preouts too, not 6
