    Oh wow... I TOTALLY expected there to be reference cards in the game this time around. I agree with Tom that it is wacko that they won't do this. EVERYONE who plays this game says that it needs them. Our group ended up printing our own and, therefore, doing part of the publisher's job, I guess. Silly that they refuse to include them.

      I'm totally with you. I love this game and the lack of reference cards drives me nuts. Publishers, if you're reading these comments, please sort this out! It's less fun if you have to peer at a book all the time!

    • @Bodyknock
      @Bodyknock 7 лет назад +1

      It really is odd. Even if the reason is cost of printing cards they could have simply included one less location and replaced it with a deck of reference cards for the exact same publishing cost. I honestly can't think of a single reason for them not to have included reference cards in Spyfall 2, it makes no sense.

    The French version of the first Spyfall by Gigamic include a reference sheet of the locations for EACH players! :)

    I ended up creating a little printout list and sliding it into a sleeve along with a cheap playing card. I recommend players hold theirs over their location/spy card, as a way of making sure no one sees by accident, and as a cheat sheet.

  • @minhtuannguyen6181
    @minhtuannguyen6181 7 лет назад +3

    It's already been said, but yeah the french version from Gigamic's 2nd edition has reference cards. They changed also made a slight adjustment from their first print, changing it from a 3 - 8 player game to a 4 - 8. If Gigamic does decide to print out spyfall 2 (aka Agent Trouble 2?) I hope they will include extra spies and extra cards with different roles for the exisiting locations allowing for the games to be mixed fully.

    It is an EASY $5-10 promo pack they could sell for the Game for everyone to have possible location cards.

  • @DreamInSongs

    Wouldn't it make more sense for the spy card to have references. Just scale down the picture or overlay it

  • @faramirtheranger
    @faramirtheranger 7 лет назад +15

    Just remove the 2nd spy from all spyfall 2 decks, draw as in regular plays and add the 2nd spy from a seperate deck of just spies.

    Regarding the Reference card, it says not to look at it while the game is going on, only in the rule book. I could see that being the reason why. I just got the first one and I'm very excited to play it with the family :)

    Spy fall 1 = 30 locations
    Spy fall 2 = only 20 locations (50% less) and still no reference cards. They could have easily had 30 and reference cards.

    We wrote out on cue cards all the locations for spyfall plus the gaming convention which isn't in the book so everyone has a reference. Would be nice to have official cards for both. This is a must buy.

    In fact i have the german/hungarian version of this game and it HAS reference cards, which are pretty usefull. I don't know why they don't put some in the english version.

  • @tomevans5077
    @tomevans5077 7 лет назад +2

    I'm glad they don't include reference card as your not meant to be looking at the locations during the game, as a spy your trying to work out where you could possibly be based on the information going around the table only. when you think you have a good idea you stop the game declare your the spy pick up the manual and pick a location, you might think you have a good idea but when you pick up the manual you may see two location that could possibly fit and you have to take a guess based on what you know, its always a tough call deciding when you think you have enough information, having reference cards would take that away from the game, they might make it a bit more beginner friendly but games are short no one is a beginner for long.

    The German version from Piatnik had reference cards. So when I brought Spyfall 2 to our game night with 11 people and we noticed the missing reference cards, we decided to play Mascarade instead. We made our own reference cards and hopefully the game will be played next time I bring it to the table. Very disappointed by Hobby World.

    Absolutely NEEDS REFERENCE CARDS. We made color copies so there are several to look at around the table but it's a pain.

  • @BrianBenedict72
    @BrianBenedict72 7 лет назад +1

    I completely agree about the player reference. I printed a reference from BGG. Why would they refuse? Do they think this is the only game we play? Like we all become experts at the locations?

    Tom, do you feel that individual reference cards would be a worthwhile addition to this printing?

  • @Elheru42

    I only own the original Spyfall but I instantly put all my spy cards in one deck and have the location decks separate. For me that is much simpler and less scary than potentially starting a game without a guaranteed spy or accidentally seeing the other side of a deck. I just pick up a location deck, collect the required number of cards, add a spy in and shuffle. It seems like a better system to me. What do other people think?

  • @davidpeterson5179

    The page that shows all the locations also cuts off some of the locations (at least in the first) which makes it even more useless. But great game still.

  • @entrecruzado
    @entrecruzado 7 лет назад +1

    It´s a shame the base game sets have less cards than the new ones... There´s should be a pack to even all locations.

  • @cartoon80s90s
    @cartoon80s90s 7 лет назад +1

    I really don't see how they could fit 20 locations on a card and make the images large enough to make sense. Unless Tom was talking about a card the size of an A4 page. I have not played the game, but a question that jumps to mind is why would all other players - with the exception of the spy - need to see all locations if they already have it on their card? I guess it makes things difficult for the spy because he is the only one who has to remember details from all locations. If however this doesn't make the spy too vulnerable, I don't see an issue with it.

    • @coreyhendon
      @coreyhendon 7 лет назад +6

      1. There is no reason to include pictures. You could easily fit the names of 20 locations on a card.
      2. A reference card would still be very useful for non-spy players. They only have their current location on their card, not all possible locations. They need to know how subtle to be when asking questions. For example, if there are 5 locations near water, it's not that big of a deal if water is mentioned. If there is only 1 place that could possibly reference water, then saying anything about water will be pretty obvious and should be avoided.

    • @JetsDuck
      @JetsDuck 7 лет назад

      Yeah, you don't need pictures just the names. I've seen people play an app version that does just that and it seems easier to play than this version.

      By the sound of it, I don't think it matters. My suggestion is to look at all of the locations for each game. Then decide which ones you like better and pick that one.

    • @neverboardofgaming
      @neverboardofgaming 7 лет назад +2

      NT why not both? Haha, here's my idea if you play with more people get two (due to the double spy) or if you can't wait till two is on the shelves get one! There's is no major difference though :)

  • @dgtal24
    @dgtal24 7 лет назад

    I disagree. Reference cards would still be suspicious, only the spy needs to look at it. When the spy knows what the place could be, even if he's not sure if that place was among the locations, he can reveal, take the instructions and find the location. Stop. That's it.

    What happens at the end if there is a vote but, it isn't unanimous? Is it like in Deception: Murder in Hong Kong where each player only gets one guess?

    • @Steve-L
      @Steve-L 7 лет назад +3

      If there is not a unanimous vote, then the vote is ignored and the game continues.

    • @leshrac369
      @leshrac369 7 лет назад +1

      I am pretty sure by the rules if you are timed rounds, and the time is out, if the group cannot come to a unanimous vote the spy/spys win the round. But yes otherwise, if people cant agree, the round resumes.

  • @kalenzypie

    Same number of cards, less number of locations. On the fence about purchasing this as Spyfall could have 2 spies easily and 9 players. Excellent point about reference cards, might pass along the 2 pages to the asker from now on.
