Thank you for all your guidance and coaching throughout my journey and for being an all-around awesome human being, not just to me, but to everyone in our community
@Bross She always had a rough life, but she is still a positive personality in the 1st game and lived in a safe community in an empty state with fewer infected for 4 years after. I can understand her being jaded or even a dangerous survivor, but I feel like her personality is too drastically different to be believable in the 2nd game.
I STILL haven’t beaten Left Behind on grounded because of the final fight. This video has given me new ideas and a renewed sense of hope, thank you so much
Absolutely, Blocky! You can do it. Here is the video where I do that encounter, my final run of it starts at about the 2 hour and 4 minute mark here: ruclips.net/video/MR2JK9y_GMY/видео.html Hope this helps!
If you still haven't done it, here's a tip. After Ellie tries to open the lock and they shoot at her, run through the building on the left and jump through the window and stay crouched behind it outside the building. Enemies almost never see you once you get into this spot. Then play it really slow, taking out guys when it's safe and using brick throw and melee as much as possible.
I think most people don’t utilize bricks and bottles as much as they should and that’s where they find the difficulty in the harder difficulties of these games. Also ran into a funny glitch in my last run of part 1 during the final David fight. When Ellie is supposed to loose her revolver and has to sneak up on David, I was able to somehow keep the revolver. Sadly David takes zero damage from it and you have to kill him as scripted.
oh my god, I know this is late but I've played TLOU Remastered and my game glitched so bad to the point the animation that was supposed to transition to the David boss fight didn't happen. I tried to open the door as Ellie, heard the dialogue for the struggle but Ellie just pushed against the door and fell back. No David, but his voice was there and I could hear him starting the fire to block the exit. I just stood there and saw David OUTSIDE the diner, just standing there and me and him death stared each other before he magically started shooting at me past the (non-glass shattering) window. Restarted the encounter, still had the revolver but he was inside, started shooting at him as he sprinted at me and he BODIED EVERY SINGLE BULLET AND I WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED. Funny how my first experience of the encounter had me scared not because of the stealth mechanic being emphasized but because a glitch made David an eldritch terror invulnerable to damage.
Bro I think you haven't played them on grounded cuz in my run every main area with a fight would only give you 2 a.brick b.bottle it felt rare for there to be enough to be able to melee all enemies it's not easy and yeah no ammo is expected
For anyone curious you can kill the bloater that drops through the roof at the part with David in the coal mine if you shoot it’s leg off with a shotgun as it jumps down. That tip saved me so much time and ammo
i know im very late to this but for the part in the basement with the generator, be sure to try to open the door before you start the generator. I once died to the bloater because the game doesnt let you swipe the keycard until you see that the door is locked
Don't wanna sound patronizing, but I'm pretty proud to have seen you go from being a bit scared of the higher difficulties to mastering them! 😄 I'm sure this video will be helpful to a lot of people! (heck, even for me, I didn't know some of the strats haha)
It was a great and fun journey, Roger, and I'm so glad that you were there for every step of the way, more or less. Great times, a lot of jokes and interesting conversations. I love our community so much.
I feel SO much better after watching this to attempt Grounded on Part II! I've been putting it off for so long but I really want that double Plat - thank you, Wolf!
This is an incredibly helpful video!! I also started playing these games on Easy and have had a similar strategy with incrementally increasing difficulty without any combat accessibility options, so I’ve currently beaten TLOU on Hard, TLOU2 on Hard, and LB on Survivor. I also agree that TLOU2 is surprisingly much easier in general than TLOU. But these are all helpful tips that I’ll be sure to use in my next runs of these games to eventually get to Grounded!
So glad this video can be helpful for you, Jim. I hope you find the experience as worthwhile, surprising, and satisfying as I did. Thanks for showing the love!
I did TLOU1 when it dropped on ps3 on some kind of normalish difficulty, and I'm doing TLOU2 now on grounded, so I had no momentum. Was basically starting from scratch. I still somehow had the same experience. I found it very challenging at first, and I felt like I couldn't use any materials, and I had to kill everyone so I could collect everything. I got really stuck on that encounter where you get the bow. Was stuck there literally for hours. But I told myself after that, no more overhoarding. Play scrappy, take hits, use health, use your weapons, get through it. Suddenly the game was so much easier, and I still had loads of gear when it switched to Abby. Now on the Abby play, I'm actually struggling a little to keep my material up, and it's so much more fun. I love the feeling of scrappy stealth over perfect stealth. Perfect stealth is fun in a game like Hitman, but scrappy stealth is exhilarating in a game like this. So my advice is, try to run out of stuff. Don't try too hard, you do need some stuff. But perfection play just isn't as fun, and wastes the biggest resource, your actual time. Make speed your priority. As long as you make sure every shot counts, take just use what you have to take out the big threats, run, hide, thin the heard, beat the stragglers. Resources will balance themselves out
My first TLOU 1 grounded run. The beginning part with Ellie when they come through the windows absolutely obliterated me. I remember getting to the part when David opens the door to let you into the next part after hours of attempts with pretty low health. I start walking down the hallway when a hand breaks the glass and (I found out the hard way) also unfortunately deals damage to you if you’re too close. I had to restart the entire part all over again. It took me even longer to get back to that hallway because I just felt donezo😂
When I really dig into a game (that would be Part I right now), I search for related content similar to this, and I must say - hats off sir, this is quality. Entertaining to see alternative strategies and hear retrospective thoughts.
Interesting to hear dropping listen mode in pt.1. I never really liked the listen mode because it took me out of the realism( yes I know Ellie being invisible does too) but it never was a problem to me. I tried in pt2 and man sometimes it’s just impossible based on how big and open these levels are, I do appreciate they seem to dumb it down and limit it so you get a good upgrade tree out of it but there is just so much more you often can’t see, I never played with headphones either so I imagine that plays a part
You definitely gotta have them headphones on, my man--but trust me, when I stopped using listen mode, I never missed it, not even in Part II. On the serious and the "for real".
yeah. im playing my first playthrough of part 2, after playing part 1, and i just don't use it, it really isn't needed once you get a good handle on the npc's behaviour
I did attempt a grounded run once in TLOU2 but I gave up as early as Eastbrook Elementary 😣 There's just no way for me to get through it strategically because things happen too fast, so I either run for my life (and die terribly) or wait for WLFs to swarm me as I cower in the corner and wonder what to do
that part was horrendous. i just ran through the right side and stealthed someone. after that if you stealth kill somebody in the open part it just gives you a checkpoint.
That's the hardest part of the game on Grounded. I got there with 3 pistol bullets and 2 rifle rounds, that was it, took hours, but it gets a lot easier after that because you will pick some supplies up!
I think RNG got me through that one. I remember barely having any ammo. Then I stealthed killed everyone with a lot of Trial and error. What I would try to do is snipe at least one or two dudes right at the start of the encounter as soon as possible
I got stuck at the school for like an entire day just repeating the same strategy. The game for some reason started giving me checkpoints throughout the fight so I was able to finish it much sooner
First playthroughs I do with new games are always on their hardest difficulties. Ive played ALL of my TLOU games on grounded. Havent tried permadeath tho. Infact, other than survival mode in order to unlock grounded, I dont know what its like to play TLOU games on anything easier. Its always cranked down to the hardest difficulty available. I ACTUALLY enjoy being stuck in levels. If a level takes me 4 days to a week+ to pass, that's good gameplay. Cause I never want my games to end. ESPECIALLY The Last Of Us.
Little tip in Part One tunnel section it’s possible to stealth all the way through that section without killing a single infected. Stay too the left and slowly walk past the bloaters they won’t engage you if you walk slow and silent enough.
I learned this years back. When I was little, playing resident evil franchise on ps1, I found out that the best rewards and gaming experiences was in playing these games on their hardest difficulties. Plus my older brother encourged me to do so. Since then, all games I play I do it on "Hard" to begin with, because it is set on my mind that is just the way the games are ment to be played. (For me).
The way I did ground in TLOU2 was just using Anthony caliber’s speedrun tutorial and using the routes he showed for the encounters and searched the non-encounter areas for materials
@@user-exuytv sorry not-sorry but I just wanted the trophy. Plus it was fun doing speedrun stuff without actually trying for a speedrun, so no it wasn’t boring for me. If it makes *you* feel any better it was the only difficulty I did that with.
I’ve beaten TLOU on grounded and pt2 on whole game permadeath but I’ve been scared to try it on grounded. This video has been very helpful for starting pt2 and I wish I had it when I was doing pt1!
I find the hardest modes in games like this make me the most immersed as the harder it is, the more life like it begins to feel, I’m currently plaything the last of us 2 on grounded permadeath per chapter cuz I want them achievements I don’t care if it takes me years
11:37 omg I thought you said "the Russian mob" and burst out laughing. Also just finished my second grounded run for tlou2 yesterday, next will be my first grounded run without new game plus, and I actually got a lil emotional because my six playthroughs all were connected via new game plus saves. Never put this much dedication into a getting good at a game (i suck at most lol), but this game captures my personal struggles with ptsd and trauma like no other piece of media I've ever experienced, I just can't stop coming back to this game time and time agia
Awesome & insightful video brotha, I usually play games on easy for my first play through just to enjoy the story & just jump to the highest difficulty after that, my favorite “hardest difficulty games” are both from Naughty dog, the uncharted games & now the last of us games, they’re really the most satisfying games to play when the difficulty is cranked.
I hear you, Marine. Yeah, when the next The Last of Us game comes out, I will probably play it my first time on Hard difficulty, but then go immediately to Grounded afterwards.
i’m so proud of you, dan ❤️ this whole video made me smile. you’ve come so far and you’re such an inspiration, not just to me but to the lot of us. thank you for our community & this video! 🐺
You're the best, Sarah! Thank you for being there all along the way, making me laugh with perfectly timed sound bytes and encouraging me with the good vibes and The Fun™
yes about the pittsburgh basement!! i practiced my run and then SPRINTED. for the university basement i just stealthed past the bloater and all the clickers (it was kind of a bitch to do bc u have to go so slow). everyone complains about those encounters but i found it rly easy
The one and only Elijah, thank you so much for the captions, my man, I know this was an epicly long video. You are the BEST and your captions are super high quality.
I'm not trying to brag here but instead of climbing through the difficulties, i always play all my games on the hardest mode from the start, I have in my mind that doing that I'm not just playing the game on the mode that is most realistic but also I'm improving my skill on it to the highest level possible, so like.. when I do that, it forces me to play the game in a more smart way, and all my wins become a lot more rewarding, even though if it takes some more time to pass through some parts, when I make it, I don't just learn a lot more about the game but also feel a lot more gratified. Doing that made me realise that hard difficulties aren't that hard in the end, and that the best approach to have if you want to play some game on them, it's to just jump directly to them, because learning from them from the start is already the best way to get good at the game anyway.
Left behind is by far the hardest on grounded! The other 2 just have isolated sections that are a pain in the arse but are quite doable through trial and error. But the final battle in left behind is a total nightmare due to being so hard to stealth and being flanked from every angle at once
omg yes on survivor it took me fricken FOREVER, they're coming at you from every angle, when you sprint it's like 50/50 you'll get shot and die, you can't stealth it, and i always feel like there isn't nearly enough bottles or bricks to kill most of them😭. i just get punched and die😭
If you’ve played the game multiple times, it makes grounded way easier. Listening mode is pointless.. it’s a 3rd person game just peak corners lol. You still have to adjust to the enemy AI in part 2 and part 1 remake… they will kill you if you peek while they’re aiming, or if you sprint towards them. Grounded is the best way to play these games and after you get comfortable with it, you won’t go back.
Btw the last part before you finish the game with a bunch of infected and bloaters it’s possible to do with out a shiv just have be sneaky that’s it and use the bottle’s to distract everyone and then you can sneak over everyone all I wasted on that part was an arrow cause there was an annoying runners in a tunnel that had some materials I wanted but not and it’s possible to kill quietly but much easier and consistent with arrows
Hard is a good first play through plenty of ammo you can still shoot through most segments and you still have listening mode. Survivor starts to bump it up.
I personally think that a big thing which makes Part 2 easier is that you have a knife. That means you can always stealth kill clickers, you always have a fast way to kill raiders, and it's an ever present melee weapon. I must say it's so dumb that Joel never had a knife.
The Ellie half of the game, yes, you have a knife. I don't know about "dumb" that Joel doesn't have a knife. TLOU isn't a simulation of real life. It's a narrative experience with gameplay features.
@@WolfofThorns Last of us part 2 proved we don't need shivs as a game play mechanic, and one of the most fundamental weapons and tools a person can have since time immemorial is a knife. I just don't believe that over the course of 20 years Joel never found a knife. He has one in the show, so obviously the creators realized their mistake. Somehow he found a rifle, shotgun, bow, flamethrower, pistol, revolver, sawn off shotgun, pistol with a scope. But he can't find a knife? that's just dumb. To your point, it might not be simulation of real life, but the game exists in a "real" world, and follows logic in dozens of other places, why should it ignore the logic there?
So it's interesting you mention 2 being easy after playing 1 grounded. I had the opposite problem lol. I started with 2 Grounded and then just completed 1 grounded for the first time because of the remake. 1 was still hard in parts don't get me wrong. But 2 kicked my ass. Maybe it's whichever game you play grounded on first that's harder and you carry that grounded knowledge into the next? Found that interesting
I actually did a part 2 grounded run where I wasn't allowed to use supressors (including the MP5) or kill any dogs. it was pretty tough. but the checkpoints were really wild.
I started Part 2 with nearly all settings on Grounded except ammo which was at Survivor. Tried to do a full grounded playthrough at the start but didn't enjoy it as a first playthrough. Total time to complete was 75 hours 😂 loved every minute
16:40 So I actually had like no ammo on this part and I remember that you’re able to actually sneak up to those three guys by the door and stealth kill them all in a row! Or even just sneak past them. It’s kind of funny though cause you literally jump over the little barrier they’re crouched behind lol.
LudiXP have a very informative guide on Grounded difficulty in the first game. And The Chef has an insane guide for the whole Part 2 game, with all possible ways to complete every single encounter without using any resources.
I have a little tip for when ur fighting the rat king make sure to turn on burst fire on Abby’s rifle if u have that upgrade it does damage So much quicker and if u set it on fire first and do that u can do way more damage without having to set him on fire again
I always play on normal first playthrough. Now that I am replaying tlou2 I though about playing on max difficulty but then realized that I am doing this to have fun. I want to be able to use bombs without worrying about the resources too much, that's why I am only playing on Hard+. I feel like sometimes the hardest difficulty's are just very frustrating.
I know this video is over ten months old, but it really made me hopeful! I played The Last of Us Remastered on Easy, and since I still died a bunch of times, I thought it was the right difficulty for me. Which is why I also played The Last of Us Part II on Easy. But now, I'm currently playing The Last of Us Part I on Moderate difficulty ... and even though I still die often enough, I think it's surprisingly manageable! I use Listen Mode all the time though, so definitely have to work on that. After watching this video, I think I might be able to slooowly rank up the difficulty. I can't imagine playing these games on Permadeath, but Grounded doesn't sound as impossible as I thought!
Watching this I’m in your shoes ish. I never did grounded on part 1 but I’ve been doin the hardest difficult on any game recently but I’ve gotten to the park area on part 2 with the seraphites and my main issue is my save point area. Ive enjoyed the realism and the fantasy in between because it’s literally walk by or decide to use supplies. Still not finished but difficulty isnt the issue it’s been my own strat. These difficulties arent as challenging as they easily leave what you need hiding in plane sight 💯✊🏻🤝
Late to the party here but I’m newish to gaming. I’ve come back after quitting around the PS1 launch. So it’s been a minute. TLoU is what brought me back to gaming and I’m itching to beat all 3 (TLoU, TLoUP1 & Pt 2) on grounded.
Played tlou 2 for the first time on hard then I completed on grounded for the second time ……. The hospital was the hardest part for me in grounded ( had no materials lol )whilst hillcrest was the hardest on hard mode lol 😂
I started hyperventilating when I first played the rat king boss fight I didn’t know that enemies take double damage when on fire and take a fuck ton of fire damage so I didn’t use my flamethrower and didn’t have anything incendiary shells so it took ages
The hospital was easy for me, after Joel kill the two men in the cut scene you can just sneak past every enemy and after you get the assault rifle just take your time with the other enemy in the hallway
I just completed part one on easy (I couldn’t get the hang of the buttons, and I’m a terrible shot) so now I’m going to try it again but on a harder level. I did start playing on normal, but at the bit where you get stuck upside down in Bill’s town I couldn’t get past the clicker, and the wee message said ‘you can change it to easy at anytime’. I thought there’s no shame in that, it still counts…!
I belive it’s because of how well they made difficulty scale with these games. As opposed to bullet spongy difficulty increases that cheapen difficulty level increase gameplau
Guess that tlou remastered grounded difficulty still has the glitch. I used it and boom, got all the difficulty-related trophies. Might do the same for tlou2 for trophies reasons.
Sad fact that on my first grounded play through I missed the upgrade bench in bills town, aka a pretty crucial bench because the next one isn’t for a while. I also missed the toolbox in his town too so bye bye to level five tools. I somehow killed the school bloater with 1 Molotov, and no bill didn’t even shoot either and I still have no idea how it happened (probably a glitch) that was also my second play through ever in part 1 as I started in normal, I had not used the health upgrades or health kits until the long Ellie battle before David (and I beat David in under 3 mins) So there’s the ups and downs of my first grounded play through, the game is always going to be easier and harder for other people and that shows that I did make mistakes early on but I made sure to work my way up to permadeath (currently working on)
I like the challenge of killing all the enemies on grounded. LOU2 is brutal if you are trying to do it this way though. I don't think anyone alive could kill all the enemies on grounded on a single death entire game permadeath run.
Just started to play TLOU remastered but I can’t see myself playing on anything else than easy mode just because I’m a PC gamer and hitting my shots without aim assist on a controller is just not a fun thing for me to do. I like to play the story and have fun. But huge respect to all the grounded chads
when I played tlou 1 for the first time I had it on “normal” then I found it quite tricky as it was my first time ever playing on a ps4 then it was my second time and I played parts on survival idk how I did that but I have it on hard and I really wanna work up to grounded and I so prefer aggressive gameplay it just looks so aesthetically pleasing!
Left behind and part 2 were easy to me but I'm currently playing part 1 on grounded and it's harder than I expected, right now I'm currently in the sewers where you fight the stalkers
I apparently like stressing myself out, so I usually go to the hardest or 2nd hardest to work up to the hardest. I exclusively play grounded and it feels hard to go backwards now.
I never played regular grounded on part 2, I’ve only played grounded+ which makes enemies more deadly and difficult to stealth kill especially for abby since she doesn’t have the pocket knife.
thats crazy, i found part 2 to be infinitely harder than part 1. i havent beaten part one yet, but im at the pittsburgh hotel and have SO much more ammo than pt2. 9 for pistol, 18 for revolver, 5 shotgun, 9 bow and 8 for rifle. on pt2 i was going insane conserving ammo. ig it was harder bc i killed every enemy i could in pt 2 and didnt run through, but i like it better that way.
I, mean, that's not really a fair assessment. You are a Dark Lord of the Sith, whereas the rest of us are mere mortals with no connection to the Force. So, you know, manhandling clickers with invisible powers and flinging them about like rebel troopers in a blockade runner corridor is not exactly the same experience as what the rest of us have.
in my grounded playthrough i stelthed my way through the infected tunnel without using a shiv by going on the car next to the bloater in the final section instead of killing the clicker with the shiv, just wanted to say that for anyone who hasnt one like i did
Pro tip: you can stealth most of the hospital, you just need one throwable for the guy who busts open a door, and a smoke bomb for the final 2 guys guarding the last door.
Great video as always. I need to retry Grounded on 1, as I ended up knocking it down to Survivor to beat the coal mine room due to dying too many times, and on Left Behind I just couldn't get past that last encounter with what I had. Going to beat 2 on permadeath first though - not on Grounded yet. I've done Grounded, but Grounded and whole game perma as a combo is something I need to build up to.
That coal mine room is NO JOKE as you well know. But trust me, repetition is key. You'll just suddenly be at the end of it and you'll be going, wait, did I just do it? Are we done. Seriously, that's exactly how it plays out. Saboteur's strat really helped me though, and even then it took me over an hour just because of David and MOB rng.
I'm gonna replay. There's a way to go straight to Grounded Plus by completing NG+ prologue then picking it on chapter select and going to Grounded, so I might do it that way.
@@AKblackandredYT I haven't done NG+ Grounded yet, which I know is harder than Grounded, or at least, they do some things to counterbalance NG+ advantage, or so I've heard, so enter at your own risk
just follow the speedrun strat specially on that basement generator, I used anthony caliber video regarding that strat, its very easy after that so easy that you doubt this is actually the scary part of the game.
For the dam and the 3 encounters. I too didn’t have much materials so I just basically used the friendly A.I. To let them kill the enemy so than I can get ammo
Agree that Part II is way easier than the first game due to the checkpoints (I think the remake of Part 1 also made the checkpoints easier than the original, although I’ve only played a little of it). Going through Part II now on Grounded and I haven’t been stuck on anything too much thus far. The ending of Left Behind on the original game was a NIGHTMARE. Never again.
I beat the 1st game on ground 3 times the original remaster and now part 1 The last of us Part 2 my 1st play through was on ground until I bout to Abby when ur trying to escape the forest with lev I was so frustrated playing as Abby that I switched it to easy to get past her part 😩 going to replay it soon to beat it on grounded
I played all of them on hard, I havnt finished left behind yet but I'm starting the first part on hard+ so I can get to survivor and grounded on the + mode. I try to stealth through a lot but sometimes I forget I don't HAVE to kill every enemy I can just sneak past them and i forget it every fight. I honestly thought the rat king underwhelming, it took me only one try to defeat it, playing DBD helps as well with the bloaters and all because I can run around all the obstacles with ease
I did a Grounded playthrough with no skill or weapon upgrades. It wasn't really too bad until Abby started dealing with Clickers. Basically no quiet way of dealing with them without shivs so it became a lot more frantic when spotted. Although, I don't remember if the Crossbow can one-shot Clickers in the head. I never really had enough bolts to try.
I first played easy and then for the second time normal then finally I thought I don’t want to do individual trophies like that so I went to grounded and even though I was nervous cause well I fear horror games and stuff even though I have played it before but honestly I think playing grounded was meant to be the real way even though I died like 40-to 50 times total i still had fun and had to think out side the box made me notice patterns faster I think and just problem solve and always being careful with resources unless I had no other choice now I hope to platinum cause the majority of the the other trophies are pretty easy hopefully when I get part 2 I can go do the hardest difficulty trophy now that I have more of a grasp on the mechanics of the base game
I just played through my first TLOU part 1 grounded (remastered) playthrough after ~7 years of my last play only on normal. And it was a brutal slog, every section from Bills town onwards taking about 20+ attempts but coal mine Ellie taking probably 30-40+ attempts. I'm sure the older game is much more challenging and unrpedicatable
I know hard and grounded was said to be a pain, and yes, it was, I still however took it. I just feel like it's the best way to experience the series, aside from missing out on some mechanics. Although I enjoyed the game without the listening wall hack.
AYE RIGHT! my bruddah. honoured. fantastic video. much love ♥️
Thank you for all your guidance and coaching throughout my journey and for being an all-around awesome human being, not just to me, but to everyone in our community
after playing TLOU and Left Behind on grounded 6 times and TLOU 2 on grounded 3 times, it's impossible to go back to an easier difficulty
@@crackawoodplz teach me master.
It’s crazy how Ellie went from a sarcastic little girl into a fierce killer
indeed
Yeh, they really fucked up the writing in that 2nd game.
@@redlethe8679meh, not completely. That change wasn’t really one of the bad things about the game

Then play it really slow, taking out guys when it's safe and using brick throw and melee as much as possible.
is grounded a big step up from survivor
@@nedmccann5381 Yeah, there's less checkpoints, no HUD, and enemy damage is a lot higher.
It did take me a few days to beat that level on the remastered ps5 one.
My first play through of TLOU2 was Survivor. It was the most realistic and entertaining way to experience that masterpiece.
Survivor is certainly a fun one, for sure, Lex. But I can't see myself playing the games on any other difficulty but Grounded now
I can see how that would make the experience more enjoyable for a first time play through
I think most people don’t utilize bricks and bottles as much as they should and that’s where they find the difficulty in the harder difficulties of these games. Also ran into a funny glitch in my last run of part 1 during the final David fight. When Ellie is supposed to loose her revolver and has to sneak up on David, I was able to somehow keep the revolver. Sadly David takes zero damage from it and you have to kill him as scripted.
It happened to me too
I mag dumped him and was still standing 😂
oh my god, I know this is late but I've played TLOU Remastered and my game glitched so bad to the point the animation that was supposed to transition to the David boss fight didn't happen.
Very true. They call me the brick master and I got proof of that too
For anyone curious you can kill the bloater that drops through the roof at the part with David in the coal mine if you shoot it’s leg off with a shotgun as it jumps down. That tip saved me so much time and ammo
Not a Shotgun

This tip is about to save me so much pain, thanks
i know im very late to this but for the part in the basement with the generator, be sure to try to open the door before you start the generator. I once died to the bloater because the game doesnt let you swipe the keycard until you see that the door is locked
Don't wanna sound patronizing, but I'm pretty proud to have seen you go from being a bit scared of the higher difficulties to mastering them! 😄
I'm sure this video will be helpful to a lot of people!
My pleasure! So happy this was useful to you!
Fireflies: "We are the ones who show yall where the light is.
Joel: "You sure bout that?"
I got there with 3 pistol bullets and 2 rifle rounds, that was it, took hours, but it gets a lot easier after that because you will pick some supplies up!
exactly, i’m stuck on eastbrook elementary without any ammo or weapons. it sucks
Absolutely agree on your point about listen mode, when I started survivor mode it felt a bit jarring, but now I don't use it, even if it's an option
literally, i thought i would struggle without it when i went from hard to survivor but in just like ten minutes i was fine without it
Little tip in Part One tunnel section it’s possible to stealth all the way through that section without killing a single infected. Stay too the left and slowly walk past the bloaters they won’t engage you if you walk slow and silent enough.
yeah that's what i do, saves so much ammo for the hospital
I learned this years back. When I was little, playing resident evil franchise on ps1, I found out that the best rewards and gaming experiences was in playing these games on their hardest difficulties. Plus my older brother encourged me to do so. Since then, all games I play I do it on "Hard" to begin with, because it is set on my mind that is just the way the games are ment to be played. (For me).
The way I did ground in TLOU2 was just using Anthony caliber’s speedrun tutorial and using the routes he showed for the encounters and searched the non-encounter areas for materials
Yeah, his speedruns defo helped me too!
Such a boring way to play games, just play naturally
@@user-exuytv sorry not-sorry but I just wanted the trophy. Plus it was fun doing speedrun stuff without actually trying for a speedrun, so no it wasn’t boring for me. If it makes *you* feel any better it was the only difficulty I did that with.
I’ve beaten TLOU on grounded and pt2 on whole game permadeath but I’ve been scared to try it on grounded. This video has been very helpful for starting pt2 and I wish I had it when I was doing pt1!
I find the hardest modes in games like this make me the most immersed as the harder it is, the more life like it begins to feel, I’m currently plaything the last of us 2 on grounded permadeath per chapter cuz I want them achievements I don’t care if it takes me years
I definitely feel you, even if my sentiment isn't quite the same. Good luck on your permadeath journey!
Just finished the same run, did u have success as well ?
@@KeepingItFishy not yet 😂 gave it a test for a while so I can go back when I’ve got the patience, playing res evil village atm :))
@@rutherhood5961 yeah definitely requires more patience then skill 😭😭😭
@@KeepingItFishy 😂😂
It's always a pleasure working with you, bud.
The one and only Elijah, thank you so much for the captions, my man, I know this was an epicly long video. You are the BEST and your captions are super high quality.
@@WolfofThorns Thank you so much.
Same as me, i used to play games at easy-normal difficulty but now i play towards the hardest options.
Same. I agree 💯
I love the tip section!!! You'll make a grounded player out of my wimpy ass one of these days, I promise!!!! Thanks for another terrific TLOU video! 💗
Hahaha, you can do it, Lanie! You can do it! We believe in you
For me the rat king on permadeath is easy, it’s that part with all the clickers with lev and Yara in the abandoned building that’s a challenge.
Great video bro keep it up
Just beat part 1 Grounded with permadeath per chapter. Very satisfying. Looking forward to doing so on the 2nd game
Btw the last part before you finish the game with a bunch of infected and bloaters it’s possible to do with out a shiv just have be sneaky that’s it and use the bottle’s to distract everyone and then you can sneak over everyone all I wasted on that part was an arrow cause there was an annoying runners in a tunnel that had some materials I wanted but not and it’s possible to kill quietly but much easier and consistent with arrows
yeah that's what i do, i throw a brick or bottle as far a way as possible and sneak to the box and quickly jump up
Hard is a good first play through plenty of ammo you can still shoot through most segments and you still have listening mode.
@@micahbonewell5994 You are certainly very passionate.
That left path for the suburban sniper i did it in first try. Thank you for sharing❤
16:40
So I actually had like no ammo on this part and I remember that you’re able to actually sneak up to those three guys by the door and stealth kill them all in a row!
These difficulties arent as challenging as they easily leave what you need hiding in plane sight 💯✊🏻🤝
you don't need a shiv for the clicker tunnel you can sneak by or trow a bottle
Late to the party here but I’m newish to gaming. I’ve come back after quitting around the PS1 launch. So it’s been a minute. TLoU is what brought me back to gaming and I’m itching to beat all 3 (TLoU, TLoUP1 & Pt 2) on grounded.
i think i might have found a new top youtuber
Played tlou 2 for the first time on hard then I completed on grounded for the second time ……. The hospital was the hardest part for me in grounded ( had no materials lol )whilst hillcrest was the hardest on hard mode lol 😂
I started hyperventilating when I first played the rat king boss fight I didn’t know that enemies take double damage when on fire and take a fuck ton of fire damage so I didn’t use my flamethrower and didn’t have anything incendiary shells so it took ages
Honestly the hardest part of grounded for part 2 was the rat king, everything else is a cake walk
I have never ever ever seen abby do a kicking animation until this video? 😅
I belive it’s because of how well they made difficulty scale with these games. As opposed to bullet spongy difficulty increases that cheapen difficulty level increase gameplau
In my opinion this is the TLOU games from least to most difficult:
1. TLOU Remastered
2. TLOU Part 2
3. TLOU Part 1
4. TLOU Left Behind
One thing I learned playing grounded the hard way is to not throw brinks and bottles Willy nilly. Those things seem soo rare
Guess that tlou remastered grounded difficulty still has the glitch. I used it and boom, got all the difficulty-related trophies.
Might do the same for tlou2 for trophies reasons.
The clicker in the last infected part u don’t even need to shiv I just slow crouch past him
yeah i just throw a brick or bottle as far i can away from the van that you have to boost ellie up on and just run quickly and jump up
Sad fact that on my first grounded play through I missed the upgrade bench in bills town, aka a pretty crucial bench because the next one isn’t for a while. I also missed the toolbox in his town too so bye bye to level five tools. I somehow killed the school bloater with 1 Molotov, and no bill didn’t even shoot either and I still have no idea how it happened (probably a glitch) that was also my second play through ever in part 1 as I started in normal, I had not used the health upgrades or health kits until the long Ellie battle before David (and I beat David in under 3 mins)
So there’s the ups and downs of my first grounded play through, the game is always going to be easier and harder for other people and that shows that I did make mistakes early on but I made sure to work my way up to permadeath (currently working on)
ngl grounded permadeath was my 2nd playtrough on part 2. lemme tell you it was PAIN.
I can well imagine!
HUGE tip: In the final room of the coal mine, you can shoot one of the bloater's legs as it's jumping down and it will die instantly
In the sewers when ur with Sam there’s a room with some ammo a melee weapon and some material don’t miss out on that
I like the challenge of killing all the enemies on grounded.
I haven't played Part 2 on Grounded, but in my recent playthrough I just ran past everything in Hillcrest lol and it worked
That's a very effective strat for Hillcrest!
I enjoyed the subtle shot at the "Soulsborne Fanboys" when he said "I support people playing a game their way when it doesn't impact anyone else".
Left behind and part 2 were easy to me but I'm currently playing part 1 on grounded and it's harder than I expected, right now I'm currently in the sewers where you fight the stalkers
Did you run through like I did in the video? Let me know how you made out, Sydney, and yes, TLOU1 is the hella harder grounded!
4:20 actually, I dont really even use it, I just forget its even there
this was great! so entertaining too!! congrats on grounded :)
cant wait to play the games on pc part 1 next month part 2 hopefully comes out this year
thats crazy, i found part 2 to be infinitely harder than part 1. i havent beaten part one yet, but im at the pittsburgh hotel and have SO much more ammo than pt2. 9 for pistol, 18 for revolver, 5 shotgun, 9 bow and 8 for rifle. on pt2 i was going insane conserving ammo. ig it was harder bc i killed every enemy i could in pt 2 and didnt run through, but i like it better that way.
Funny because tlou1 on grounded was really easy for me but tlou2 took me a lot longer though by even by the bloater fight I found it just as easy
@@AKblackandredYT Also, keep in mind that NG+ will give you ZERO advantage in the Coalmine, since Ellie's arsenal and skills exist in a vacuum
@@WolfofThorns oh yeah. I'm just thinking I'll at least get two trophies for the price of one...
just follow the speedrun strat specially on that basement generator, I used anthony caliber video regarding that strat, its very easy after that so easy that you doubt this is actually the scary part of the game.
Last if us 2 on grounded 🤬🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️ rage for days
Guys here’s a tip for hotel basement, after you turn on the generator, wait a few seconds and the bloater has a higher to spawn downstairs
Cought a sub here brother nice work!!
TLOU had the best combat and it was hella fun
When it comes to beating it and looking for Tun through spots I looked to speed runners for the dam and the sniper portion
cool vid, i like your commentary
Stealth was so easy on tlou1 you could skip entire sections
I beat the 1st game on ground 3 times the original remaster and now part 1
The last of us Part 2 my 1st play through was on ground until I bout to Abby when ur trying to escape the forest with lev I was so frustrated playing as Abby that I switched it to easy to get past her part 😩 going to replay it soon to beat it on grounded
I beat part 1 on survivor and am doing a grounded run soon.
however, I just cannot be bothered to do it for the dumpster fire that is part 2.
im almost finished survivor on part 1, its hard but i think im ready for grounded
