Good question! I guess, for extra safety, you could bend or make a tiny hook or angle at the very tip of the wire that you press into the clay for support. After this you might need to smooth out the surface there a little bit, if there is a dent.

Yes. The temperature is not high enough to affect the wooden toothpick. It acts like a skewer in the oven. Thank you for your kind words..
