    I have used the Clinique one for years. Every time I’ve tried other balms, im disappointed and come back to it. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin/eyes or break me out more. Also, it lasts forever. Love love love.

    About mineral oil: I have sensitive skin and have used straight up cosmetic grade mineral oil to melt my makeup. Mineral oil as a cosmetic ingredient is (to the best of my knowledge) completely benign and won't have much of any effect on the skin, for good or ill, because the molecules are too big to penetrate the skin. The only exception, as with any product, would be if you specifically have a sensitivity to it. According to a couple of dermatologists and cosmetic chemists I follow, sensitivity to mineral oil is relatively rare though.

    • @EgoBrain1
      @EgoBrain1 5 лет назад +38

      You are completely correct. It's one of the moisturizing ingredients that are least likely to cause sensitivity. Mineral oil is great.

      Esther Herzog My acne prone skin loves mineral oil. Too bad it's not environmentally friendly

    • @mary419
      @mary419 5 лет назад +16

      Thank you! Mineral oil is one of the few oils that doesn’t break me out. A lot of dermatologists actually recommend it for people with sensitive skin because it’s so non reactive!

    • @brideofsnape2046
      @brideofsnape2046 5 лет назад +31

      Exactly, same here. There's a lot of misinformation about mineral oil. People talk like you're putting gasoline on your face or something. Another currently maligned ingredient is lanolin, but there's nothing like it for healing damaged skin. It's a crucial ingredient in some old school creams like La Mer, Nivea, and Lancome's Nutrix. It's derived from sheep's wool, and so just as some folks are allergic to wool, so lanolin can also cause allergic issues. Plus, some decry it as a by product of the meat industry, but even if people stopped eating sheep altogether it could still easily be processed from sheared wool with no harm done to the sheep (unless you think shearing the sheep hurts it, a matter of opinion; I'd disagree as there's plenty of evidence out there that unsheared sheep can grow such a thick/huge coat that it's injurious to their health.) Lanolin is about the only thing besides hardcore cortisone and major dietary restrictions that helps my eczema. All just FYI. ;-) Note also that some vegan or vegetarian ingredients, like shea butter, can be harmful/allergenic--shea butter is derived from a tree nut and we know how some people really react badly to those, etc. It's all quite individual!

      Esther Herzog I have sensitive skin and I've even used coconut oil to take off makeup. Mascara definitely, and used to put it on at night and then wash it off and not once did it break me out. And certain foundations break me out within a couple hours of putting them on.

    This whole double cleanse ‘craze’ makes me smile. ‘Double cleansing’ in the spa industry has been normal procedure since the dawn of time. It’s even how I was trained in college in 2000. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to buy or use two separate products for cleansing. You can cleanse twice with the same product. That’s what I’ve always done during facials, removing each application with a hot towel in between. With regards to people using coconut oil or worrying about having a greasy feeling afterwards, a proper cleansing balm should NOT do that. A key ingredient in cleansing balms, following the oil or butter is an emulsifier. You should apply your cleansing balm onto dry skin, massage it all over the face and eyes thoroughly to break down makeup, then gradually introduce water onto your hands and continue massaging. This activates the emulsifier and the balm will turn milky. This is then very easily rinsed away or removed with a hot towel or muslin cloth with NO greasy residue left behind. I hope these tips have helped someone out there. Personally I love cleansing balms. There is no more thorough method for cleansing. My favorite is ESpa’s or the Emma Hardie balm. The Body Shop’s Chamomile balm is a great, more affordable alternative. If you prefer a creamier formula, I cant recommend Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish enough.

      @sarahgrey5953 Год назад

      I’ve just got Clinique take the day off cleansing balm (discounted prices obvs 😂) and I worked out tonight that adding water makes it milky. It’s lovely. Not sure if you are in the UK but Superdrug has a Naturally Radiant range which are Liz Earle dupes and the cleanse and polish is just as good and only £4.49 / $5.60 which is amazing!!

    For anyone that is new to or interested in cleansing balms or cleansing oils: they’re amazing. I have oily/combo skin and I’d never use any other makeup remover. BUT they’re actually best used and should be used (like almost all skincare) outside of the shower. That’s because shower water can be overly drying to your skin. Besides that, cleansing balms/oils work best on completely dry skin, and then you can rinse it off super easily with your hands which will be the least irritating to the skin. I do makeup removal, cleansing, and exfoliating before I shower, and when I get out I tone and do moisturizing steps. Skincare is meant to help maintain skin temperatures which can prevent breakouts and irritation. Hope this helps someone 🤗

    Clinique one was my HG until one day traveling I realized I forgot to bring it and had no choice but to go to the drug store. I picked up the palmers face therapy rose cleaning oil and I was hooked! Seriously, If you like cleansing oils, you should definitely try it. It is AMAZING! It takes away absolutely everything and even though I always double cleanse it’s not necessary because it doesn’t leave a residue whatsoever. It does smell like rose but it doesn’t bother me. I deal with it because it seriously is that good and so cheap.

    After you mentioned PF in your fav video I bought it. CVS has it but it wasn't in stock. Next stop was Walmart. Lucky me, there was only one left and the price was a few $ less there. First time I used it was in the shower. I wasn't impressed. Decided the next day to use it out of the shower and wow, what a difference. I loved how well it cleaned my face (it took everything off!!) and how soft it left my skin feeling. No greasy film, no burning eyes, no bad reaction, nada. I know you don't get a lot but in my case using PF vs Clinique just makes sense. I only wear makeup maybe 5-7 days out of the month so the PF should last me a long time. Thanks for the rec'd Taylor. I no longer have to sit there and waste quite a few pads and micellar water. I now only use those to clean on non makeup days. Great video... 👍

      Some ingredients, such as certain plant oils or extracts, can have a really pungent or unpleasant smell that brands want to mask to make their products smell better, but to me it makes no sense? Fragrance can irritate the skin, and I would gladly take a product that smells funny but is non-irritating over something that smells good but really aggravates my skin. Especially since most smells in skin care products don't linger for more than a minute, if that. So there's no harm in having a product that doesn't smell good and there's minimal benefit to adding fragrance, but they do it anyway. Actually I just remembered one moisturizer, the GlamGlow Glowstarter; it had such a strong orange-creamsicle smell that just didn't go away and it gave me a headache. Luckily it was just a sample tube from Sephora that I never touched again.

      dindaire albolene worked fine, but you do need a wet towel to wipe it off. I prefer balms that wash off clean with just water, but if one doesn’t mind using a towel, it’s a good deal. I’ve been watching Dr. Dray too. Bought several products on her recommendation & they’ve all been wonderful.

    Can you and Kristi please do a collab together? She gave an amazing "review" of you. I feel both of your subscribers would thoroughly enjoy a video or two of you guys together doing literally anything.

    My favorite cleansing balm is the Heimish All Clean Balm from Amazon. I've gone through a shift wearing a tinted sunscreen and sweating buckets outside in the heat and that balm removes everything. It's amazing.
