Here's a challenge for Taika Waititi. Make another short film, with the same actors, meeting 10 or 15 years later as young adults.

I think this perfectly gets those times when you’d become fast friends with another little kid at some event or park, then one of you leaves with your family just as quick. No contact info or parents meeting each other, just goodbye. “Probably see you later” “Yeah, probably”.

This is the most "New Zealand" thing I've ever watched.

Waititi is a master at capturing the simple, subtle sweetness we have, particularly as children - even in so short a time as this film takes.

I really felt like a kid waiting for his parents to come back in from the store while watching this short. Truly exceptional.

This was great. Stylistically consistent, unique and intriguing. Felt like a little world in a snow globe, very self contained.

This kids are such naturals at acting, the main boy looks a lot like a little Taika.

Now that Taika Waititi has done many big budget productions, it would be amazing to see him write and direct an independent film (or series) in New Zealand again!

How simple a story, yet so beautiful can be. Taika Waititi is one of few who does unique and awesome movies. My favourite director.

Man this is real life on the east coast of the North Island. We waited in the car while the olds got trollied at the local DB tavern. Good times
