A week since I left this comment and I'm still quite convinced that it is indeed the best I've heard, probably even above Korpiklaani (although only by a tiny little bit). There's also Be'Lakor which with is also quite on the same level, however they might have a few less genius songs than these guys (though otherwise they are very much matching the quality). It's hard to compare it to anything else due to sheer difference in it's nature, but subjectively speaking Eluveitie is at the top of the metal hierarchy.
+Bogdan Koldunenko You need to see them Live. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. I shed a tear during the show. I also caught one of Merlin's sticks :')
I saw them in 2006-2007 and they opened up with this, it was a Kataclysm show, they stole it IMO. No one knew what to do, I kept starting pits. I'd love to see them again
Both! At the same time! And I whole-heartedly agree with you. These guys (and girls) are the best folk-metal band I've heard. Every song I listen to gives me goosebumps.
Amazing how they compare modern and old instruments, and still make it sound like they belong to each other. This band shows that instruments can be used in harmony, now if only the humans could.. ^^
There was really great folk - music. And also, wouldn't it be one of the best music ever when you wake up everyday and hear the birds singing, leaves rustling on a wind, water flowing in the stream... (if we only assume that you'll live in a village, not in a center of oppidum.)
I stumbled across them on youtube lol but I LOVE there stuff, I reckon I have most of there songs now and search for more every day! I'd love to see them live playing Thousandfold or Inis Mona! And hey! thanks for finally showing me there's noce and like minded people on youtube! Rock on Metal head! Devil horns to the sky from Australia :)
I've heard of this type of music before but never thought that it was realy for me untill someone in out class at school asked a teacher to put it on and then I realised I really liked it, I haven't stopped listenng to it since. :P Rock on Eluveitie!!!!!!
this is the part where you listen to every song by them ever until you find it. no time wasted, because this band is fucking amazing.. then you will discover more by them. well worth it.
I met the bass player for this band while he was temporarily working the merch table for Korpiklaani back in 2009 in Budapest, Hungary. We talked about the bass part in this song and the little breakdown at 3:30 and how much fun it is to jam to. Very cool dude!
piya krish it's okay because i'm sure you make happy at lot of male with your picture (and maybe even female) anyway everybody's happy with a dance of victory enjoy it !
c est assez bien, j ai vous ecoute hier soir et vous etez parfait je suis de la republique tcheque et, mes amis, c est domage que nous n avons pas la groupe comme vous
i'd love go to switzerland, but i'm stuck in brazil..switzerland, germany for see running wild, blind guardian, eluveitie and others bands that i love..
Sure, for the majority. It takes a certain level of bravery to give up on it all. You can always bring in certain aspects of a lifestyle you hold close to heart. Nothing is impossible.
+Faizal Sy Songs by this band I recommend are: Inis Mona Uis Elveti Druid Slania's Song AnDro Tegernako Siraxta Havoc Call of the Mountains The Endless Knot Helvetios Song of Life
The sound of birds and leaves is great, indeed, but we actually have no idea of how music sounded 2000 years ago! We barely know what kind of musical instruments they had. Most of what we know today as "folk music" is just a few centuries old XD
Standard protocol for listening to an Eluvietie song you havnt heard yet: 1) Skip ad 2) Like 3) Favourite 4) Post comment on how awesome it is 5) Share to Facebook 6) Add to "Music I love" playlist 7) Listen to the song 8) Regret NOTHING =D
@SuperMusicHero Dide Marfurt on Hurdy Gurdy and Linda Suter on violin and vocals. Rafi Kirder on Bass and Sevan Kirder on flutes/tinwhistles/bagpipes. Not sure about the three others, i'd have to check. One more guitar i think and obviously no Merlin yet on drums. I think the guy in the foreground was even a singer. This is a VERY early bandpic from the times of "Vên".
Heh, looking at Chrigel now and then I gotta say he aged rather well during all those years :D I also didn't know they had a badass druid playing hurdy-gurdy before Anna Murphy ;P
By far the best band I ever heard.

Nightwish would be mentioned , but they have recently descended into absolute crap.
+Bogdan Koldunenko You need to see them Live. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. I shed a tear during the show. I also caught one of Merlin's sticks :')
Scott Robinson Yeah, but there is a bit of a problem...I'm in Sydney.

Again as i have said in their previous songs and vids.....the Celtic background embedded in the music is breath taking.
I can't understand why people don't love folk metal.

Wow awesome Song :)
glad to hear that one of my favorite Irish tunes (Dunmore Lassies) has found it's way into modern music once more :D
I'm Scottish/Irish and I definitely hear the Celtic influence here. Their fusion of eclectic styles works :) :)
