    I thought it's ALWAYS supposed to be remove -tve first. Why is it ok to remove +ve first here? Doesn't it cause sparks or damage?

      In this case, the positive is so far out compared to the negative, it just makes sense.
      In general though, you're right, you remove negative first because if your spanner accidently shorts between the negative and the body, it doesn't matter. By time you then remove the positive, it still doesn't matter if you accidently touch spanner to body as there is no circuit (because the neg bat terminal is already off).
      This car is unusual because the negative is buried so far back. Just be a bit careful.
