This show she is on was called the ShowMaskGoOn which she competes with other known singers in Russia, this one was the first she performed and has eight more that you would enjoy to watch. She went on to win this competition after performing Personal Jesus. My favorite of all the songs she performed on this show is called the “Crow”, which will absolutely blow your mind. Hello Aileen, thank you for your fine reaction. Diana has a very rare voice. She is a dramatic contralto and she is also polyphonic. This is a new TV show in Russia, you know. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won this competition. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. Here are the 9 songs:

She is singing since little child, auditioned for Voice Kids at age of 13 but got no votes (18M+ views on her Jodel time attempt making it the most viewed audition of any non chosen performer).
Then at age of 14 her "You are Super!" era started: they made a show for kids with tormented background, where they made funny, beautiful performances, like sailors dancing around them, etc.
Then Diana entered, with a voice of an Earth goddess. And since the crew was highly professional they did excellent job giving her the opportunity to shine. She took it,

I've followed Diana for years and she had that rich lower register at 14. She's incredibly unique. Her voice is so complex and has so many frequencies her voice almost sounds synthetic at times. She's one of a kind. You should explore more of her music. She has amazing diversity and sings in multiple languages.

I enjoyed your reaction. At this stage of my life I did not expect to discover a singer who would completely blow me away. I certainly did not expect anyone to dethrone Whitney as The Voice (NOT in terms of range or vocal ability, but in the way she touches the soul) in my private musical world. Hi thanks for your reaction, Diana is a extremely rare dramatic contralto with the ability to sing with polyphonic overtones. Her voice is literally one of a kind on this planet. Here’s a list of songs to react to. Crow. Wicked Game. Human. Daniere Dance.
There are hundreds of covers of this song and few touch me and come close to Elvis, but Diana and her trainers and musicians are smart and she makes her own song out of it.
Diana sang this song by Elvis Presley in the first episode of the competition 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMASKgoon). This was Diana's first adult competition in November 2021. She was the youngest competitor (aged 18) and wowed contestants and spectators with her first song.
Rules: 9 winners of the previous shows 'The Mask', 'Superstar' and 'You are Super' took part in this new format and had to sing in 9 categories: folk hit, song at the end of the 20th century, Soviet song, pop hit, song your choice, new music, song from cartoon or film, rock hit, Grammy

They said of their performance: 'Diana has no competition on the show - she amazes with her talent - it's impossible to tear yourself away from her - you want to listen endlessly, they're in tears and they're even afraid to blink' .
8 participants (Diana cannot score herself) gave Diana the highest score (9). She won the first episode... and later won the contest.

Also I had a project that I was wanting help on. Diana and her mother did a rather lengthy interview for some magazine and I wanted to try and do a video of it using female voices. Diana was born in May 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she abused the child and tried to drown it. One day this 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage.
There she finally found love ... by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist who treated the children from the children's home. Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared, but she could all sing songs from cartoons. A doctor recommended singing lessons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started …
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D6). Diana's voice also sometimes has a polyphonic undertone. You hear: Her voice sounds an octave below the singing voice. (But not everyone can hear that.) Diana also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions.
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a unique competition and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to RUclips and soon she had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.
Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment (37m²/398,26 ft²) in Moscow. There, in the small flat she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to begin her vocal training with the best teachers.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier than it is 'normal'. That alone shows how smart and hardworking she is.
She applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is totally normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts. Difficult to choose a favorite, but her rendition of "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone is amazing. She was only 14, doing a gig on a river boat, and it's just her on the small stage, no big production, so it really showcases her talent and abilities.

She's the rare true contralto, but it's the harmonics of her voice that really add the extra punch. She's very good at formant structure, clever vowel modifications, and creating a lot of space like a bass singer. She's mastered singing with a lowered larynx even when singing with a high placement. She also has wonderful overtones for that double voice sound. If you want to see her beginnings I recommend the performance of Rechenka when she was 14. You could then go in chronological order to see how she progressed. She became a contralto around 14 when the Rechenka performance occurred and was really insecure in head voice. Opting instead for her expertise in yodeling to use falsetto and chest heavy mixes instead. This elvis cover was very much a showcase of all the hard work she put in over the years to get her confidence back in full head voice.
This performance was her first song on a unique singing show last year. We got to see a performance every Saturday for 9 weeks. She did two rock covers on that show; one was Russian with the original singer as the guest, and the other was Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. However, the mixing was a little poor on the Depeche Mode performance for some reason. Maybe their primary sound engineer was out sick or something. She did a live set for the radio show "Autoradio" where she sang that cover again with her voice much more forward in the mix. I recommend that one if you listen to it. She also sang Rag'N'Bone Man's Human on that radio set as well as some of her originals from her new full length album. A good starting place for chronological viewing of her stuff would be something like:

For everything else I recommend seeing the newest performances. She did two radio sets last year for Autoradio. That's also where her most recent performance of Derniere Danse by Indila can be found. If you enjoy dissonance you will really enjoy this rabbit hole. Diana really likes harmonic minor scale and dissonance.
She has so many stunning performances especially from age 14 to now 18 and she has always possessed the ability to transport and mesmerize her audience.Her cover of Wicked Game at age 15 along with Rechenka to the newer Crow are a few examples that never disappoint.Add Derniere Danse to the list Russian singing in French

Diana is impossibly talented! Nobody else on earth can do what Diana does. Nobody. Watching Diana is like watching an epic movie soundtrack. She is 18 here. To really appreciate Diana, you need to go back in time. Rechenka, age 14. Wicked Game, age 15. Derniere Danse, age 16. As your Voice, age 17. The Crow, age 18. What a Wonderful World, age 18.
Love the raw emotion you portray when you first hear her. She makes me sad and makes the hair on my arm stand up at the same time.
I read that she's a contralto (lowest female voice type). Cher is also supposed to be a contralto, but I've never heard anything this low before. She's just incredible.

Diana is one of the few people on the planet who has a polyphonic voice for those of you that don’t know what that is. It comes from the Greek meaning. ‘ many sounds.’ Basically she can sing multiple notes simultaneously giving her a very unique sound towards the end of the song when she is singing in a deeper register with the power behind it. If you listen to that part over and over and over again like I have, you can actually hear that it is layered with different areas of her vocal tract and if you don’t believe me, it’s a very easy Google search to find out the truth, I have seen her perform live across, countries in Europe and she sounds even better in real life. I have been following her career with the rules of her song. Rechenka which translates as.’ the river.’ That she performed at 14. It’s also on RUclips you should check it out.

Seriously you need to check out her performance of (translated) Crow. You get to explore an aspect that many people talk about when they react to her music - it is what people often refer to as “shamanic” or something that is primal, or organic or natural. Diana has not had an easy life. Her mother abandoned her when she was very young and she was eventually placed in an orphanage. When she didn't speak at the same age as other kids, she was placed in a singing program where they thought it might help her to talk, so she has been singing from an early age. somewhere along the line, she learned to yodel, and if you really search, you might be able to find an early video of her yodeling. She has participated in a variety of Russian youth singing competitions, but this is her first adult competition. If you want to see some of her earlier videos, you might look for Wicked Game, Rechenka, or Danse Derniere. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, Spanish, and French so far.
I am blessed to be living in a time where I can enjoy such wonderful music as this from around the world.

She started singing from a young age as a way to overcome a speech problem caused by the trauma and abuse she suffered at the hand of her mother, who abandoned her at any early age with an injured collarbone on the streets of Russia. It is interesting to note that Diana Ankudinova was only 18 when this performance took place. This cover of the Elvis Presley classic, "Can't Help Falling In Love" now belongs to her and it really demonstrates that Diana Ankudinova has a true contralto voice, which is a very rare female voice type. In particular, Diana's tone quality, timbre, the fullness and roundness of her sound, her resonance, and the depth of her voice define her as a "dramatic contralto", which makes her one of the rarest of the rare types of contraltos. Diana is also a real polyphonic singer which in itself is also a very rare talent and is a vocal technique that creates two different tones at the same time which makes her sound like she has two different voices at the same time.
Diana does this through the resonance which is created by the airflow through the lungs, throat, mouth, and the placement of her tongue which is why some people mistakingly think she is using a voice synthesizer or a vocoder to manipulate her sound, or there's another voice singing in the background, or she is singing over a pre-recorded track, which she is not. What you are hearing is really just Diana Ankudinova.
Also, on average the majority of female singers usually don't reach their full vocal maturity until they are around 22 to 25 years of age. I am looking forward to what Diana will sound like when she does reach full vocal maturity because when she does she will have had 4 to 7 more years of voice training with her voice coach plus adding years to hone her live performance skills. When that day comes, there can be no doubt that Diana Ankudinova will be a wonder to behold and a force to be reconded with.

Interesting, but Deeana's composition is a cover of a cover of a cover. It is originally a French song "Plaisir d'Amour" from the 18th century. It was covered by Elvis Presley. After that Tommee Profitt made a minor key cover. And now Deeana did a cover on it.

At the age of about 13 she auditioned on a show for children and sang/yodeled. It is called 'Jodel Time'...really extraordinary...the audience absolutely loved her but the judges didn't turn their chairs around, even though they were obviously fascinated by her voice. They asked her to sing something else and she sang a French song acapella...but she was not chosen. What did she do? As the audience cheered her, she went up and gave the judges a hug! Completely captivating performer, even at the age of 13! I'd say watch her do Elvis' 'Can't Help Falling in Love' (fantastic -- she makes it an entirely new song). And also you could do 'Wicked Game' and 'Rechenka' both at the age of about 15 in singing contests... utterly spectacular voice! Also she sings a beautiful and uplifting 'Into the Sky!' At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment.
