I learned from living with a traumatized addict that he suffered from PTSD from the childhood trauma (molestation) he experienced. However, in turn, he gave me secondary PTSD due to his extreme up and down, manipulative, passive aggressive, etc. behavior.

If you're not supposed to blame the addicted spouse for most of the marriage failure, how is the addicted spouse held accountable to change their behavior?

They have to either get completely hopeless or loose something of value is what I understood. I think it then puts their addictive behaviour into perspective (for them) that their addiction is the root cause for the problem in the marriage. Then they can accept accountability. 💜

What if your spouse has an "acceptable" addiction like food/sugar? What can you do if you've mentioned the issue but your spouse doesn't acknowledge it as a problem?
