When your spouse cites financial insecurities as the reason for separating for purposes of divorce and refuses to seek wise Godly counsel, there are darker and self serving agendas. It defies common sense and basic logic, financially. Patience, grace, time to think, communication and wise Godly counsel is essential. The right counseling style and methods are available for any combinations of personalities and learning styles and other major factors that determine effectiveness and success with couples that both believe and trust in Gods plan for marriage. This all requires love, grace, forgiveness, compassion, commitment, trust, and God. These things give hope to endless possibilities for growth and strength in what is good and right. Lawyers, secular counseling, courts, judges, worldly advice, child custody, and divorce are all aimed at one outcome. Permanent destruction of marriage and family unity. One cost is the birth of your children's children into a "normalized" dysfunction. Your son's future wive's will need to be accepting of their future children being exposed to the worlds view of "divorce is acceptable and normal" since grandma and step grandpa "Steve" and grandpa aren't bad or wrong, just different. What a handicap to our son's. I like to call it the unnecessary divorce. The monetary cost pales in comparison to the real cost. Paid by two generations directly. The shame is lifelong. The memories of the past, all tainted. It takes a good strong Godly man to do the right thing and minimize the immediate impact of such overwhelming devastation on those that need a strong father, brother, and/or son and hurt when they see your heart is hurting...
