Timeless song just as true today if not more so. ( young people carrying signs- mostly say Hooray for our side. )We got to talk to each other , try and understand each other. Don’t buy into the people keeping us separate by scaring us or feeding us lies. ( paranoia runs deep, into our lives it will creep) I have wished many times a young artist would revamp this classic for the new generations ☮️
This folk rock band was formed in 66-68. It included Stephen Stills & Neil Young. This was their biggest hit & is considered a protest song. The group disbanded in 1968. Stephen Stills went on to form the supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash with David Crosby of the Byrds and Graham Nash of The Hollies. Neil Young launched his solo career and later joined Stills in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in 1969.
"What a field day for the heat; a thousand people in the street." The heat was slang in the 60s for the police.
Mugs, sorry for the mistake. I read this song was written about a protest in LA about a restaurant closing. I think this is a better sound than I sent. "Singing songs and carrying signs, mostly say hurry for our side" But it could fit many other situations too. Thanks again.
That is Neil Young on guitar.
It seems relevant today, doesn't it?
Steven Stills witnessed the protest about a curfew along with PF Sloan.....and wrote this song about it.....check out PF Sloan....
I can't hear this without thinking of Muppet animals in the woods being stalked by hunters and freezing in their tracks when they sing "Stop!".
The song is about the Sunset (Blvd - LA) Riots in the late 60's.
What a field day for the heat, The heat was the police. Legendary Stephen Stills. For one of his best solo pieces listen to "Treetop Flyer" its about a former military pilot during the Vietnam era who ran guns and drugs for a living after leaving the military.
That's a great frickin song. 🔥
I’ve heard this song a thousand times, and I never noticed that harmony. It’s one of the reasons you’re my favorite reactor.
This song was written about '60s L.A. scene for pre-drinking age teens.
Steven Stills, Neil Young and Richie Furay what a great 60's band.
Tremolo pedal gets that guitar effect you're talking about
Great songs and great musicians are timeless
The song is about a teen club that was closed down by the local government in Los Angeles.
Thanks for this video. As a Gen X first model year this is a big, important song for me. I like to hear what you are thinking about it as you listen. 👍🏿🙏🏿🏆
Thanks for the reaction.
Public Enemy's He Got Game featured Steven Stills and might be where you heard this song previously.
