So I just got to level 9 with my mage, made an on Target drain health spell that does 100 damage. Only cost 24 Magicka to cost. This crap is broken as heck. It feels a little too overpowered so right now my main spell is a destruction spell (fire) damage 75 points on touch with 94 Magicka to cost. Still great freaking powerful but a bit less overpowered. I only use the other spell in tricky fights and such. I think it's safe to say mages are the best build. I'm really only just starting to get in the game. That said to be honest if I put a 10 percent shield enchantment on all my elven armor, wore my ring if aegis and used mainly my drain health spell I think I could take on max difficulty. Not that I want to. Sticking to normal for now.
Once you get to have enough mana to cast simple spells you can pretty much dominate Cyrodiil... I think they thought this was broken and decided to remove the feature from Skyrim while making the good spells that much more unique when you got them... dunno.

Use a drain fatigue effect instead, it's less costly and has a similar effect. When your fatigue goes under zero in Oblivion you enter ragdoll mode until it comes back up. Instead of freezing into place the NPCs will ragdoll and faceplant, falling unconscious.
@@StarLink149 use drain with weakness for stacking for an effect like paralysis if used continually Paralysis if you want an instant stun Tho for me id just make a curse elemental spell Go invisible then touch your target and go invisible again and watch them die
Another thing that was underrated about Oblivion that Skyrim removed was the fact that you had a spell button. They were equipped but not in your weapon slot. This made combat feel a lot less clunky when playing a 2 handed battlemage. Sure it was nice to cast them at the same time in Skyrim, but Spells felt so much more fluid in Oblivion with their system.
I remember i moded a ridiculous amount of magic and made a spell that was basically a gigantic fire blast, I loved sending that to the bottom of a cave or if i saw enemies in the distance and seeing how the tiny fireball suddenly burst into a super nova.
I went on a Thor style lightning bolt rampage the other day, and I wish I'd been recording because I managed to get three NPCs to yell "HELP SOMEONE'S BEEN MURDERED" simultaneously.
One of my favorite spells was some sort of combination of fire damage over time and paralyze since if you balanced it right you could get this horrifying result instead of the normal paralyze where they fall over for X seconds this would cause them to melt into a pool and die over time like their character model would fall into a puddle of themselves and die...It was pretty badass
That bug is a classic! Paralysis usually does the trick under certain conditions but I have triggered it in different ways in the past, can't remember them though :(
@@ThatsCoolDude One thing you should check out that I dont see often posted is the Skyrim Paralyze bugs go find a cow (My favorite result and plenty outside of Whiterun with an open area) Paralyze it then wait until it runs out and paralyze it again as the animation of the Cow getting back up is playing and it will fly incredibly fast through the sky doing loops and its great
I miss Spellmaking. I can't believe they removed this godly feature in Skyrim. This is why I prefer Oblivion over Skyrim, their skoomas are over the top than water diluted Skyrim ones.
I guess I understand why, it was utterly gamebreaking in every game it was in (daggerfall and morrowind got even more wild with spell breaking, a late game mage in Morrowind literally felt stronger than using console cheats)
There is a mod that brings back for Skyrim legendary edition it’s called grimy skill expansion. you can combine it with other mods to get a similar experience
I liked creating a spell that would require for more magika than you'd ever normally get. Then creating spells to fortify my magika in increasing stages in everyway possible. Sitting in the middle of a city buffing yourself over and over and then dropping a nuclear spell on the city was too much fun.
I created a spell named "Now it's a party" in my recent run using god mode to cast it. It combined frenzy, rally and blade buffs on maximum area of effect with 100% chameleon on self. Cast it in a crowded area and you can watch the show undisturbed... or just zap everyone at once with unlimited power if you're still bored. Possibilities. possibilities...
I remember making wacky spells, but the one I remember in particular that I also used a ton, was a spell that summoned a monster and then made you invisible
Most fun thing for me was creating (8) Fortify Acrobatics 100/Fortify Athletics 100/Fortify Speed 100 spells, and then stacking them all together. I would use this method to jump from Frostcrag Spire to the Market District in the Imperial City. Since I play without using fast travel this became my fast travel haha.
The strongest finger of the mountain spell can easily shoot horses over the city walls. It also works great on bears and wolves. We had a lot of fun with it back in the days
Those are some pretty insane custom spells, a love this about Oblivion so much! You can literally do creative nonsense spells. That invisibility + light + damage on target is a very funny one!
