  • Tunde Onakoya and Shawn Martinez Break World record for longest consecutive chess marathon, playing for 60 hours straight in the heart of Times Square!
These two men captured the hearts of the world. Probably less for their master chess skill & world breaking record, but more for their brokenness, fatigue & fighting spirit. For 60 hours straight, they told us a different story, not through words but through moving chess pieces.
We had hoped to raise money and awareness for our global The Gift of Chess chess set distribution, but what we really did was raise the spirts of millions around the world, inspiring a generation to know that it’s possible to do great things from a small place.
We often talk about spread vs scale. You can’t truly ever scale, but you can spread. We can spread through sharing and inspiring the world and proving access to chess set globally. This past week, we certainly spread the word. Now it’s time to spread the chess sets too.
Support our efforts and table a piece of history. We have 20 signed Tunde boards left. We have 50 signed Russ & Tunde boards, and 50 signed Shawn & Tunde boards.
