  • Some IVF failures may be due to problems with the immune system. Suppressing the immune system with medications like prednisone has been used to improve the chance for IVF success. Does prednisone increase the chance for embryo implantation in IVF? Does it reduce the risk for early or later pregnancy loss? Is the chance for a live birth better with prednisone? Dr Randy Morris MD-The BOARD CERTIFIED fertility expert explains the most recent research regarding prednisone and IVF success in this episode of InfertilityTV. Dr Morris is "America's Most Trusted Fertility Doctor".

I think it’s important to note that this study is not based on people with recurrent pregnancy loss or bio chemical pregnancies. I think more studies need to be done with steroids on women who are in this category. Also another thing to take away is it did not affect implantation so perhaps no harm in trying for women experiencing this problem until more conclusive trials have taken place. Love these videos on fertility. Most informative, scientifically based on the internet xx

After 5 failed implantation failure , I tried prednisone and had healthy pregnancy two times.
There is definitely something with prednisolone for people with high nk cells and implantation failure

Congratulations on your persistence. So called NK cells in the blood or uterus are not a cause for implantation failure or miscarriage. Watch this video ruclips.net/video/jrbTsp6EtTo/видео.html

Very valuable information! Thank you. This is what I was suspecting too..
How about Tacro to be taken for 2 weeks between embryo transfer and first pregnancy test??
Some clinics use it, some don't.

    Very informative video.
I had 2 failed IUI & 3 implantation failure with very good grade embryos and very good lining. At my 4th FET doc added prednisolone 5mg from 5 days prior to transfer and 10mg from day of transfer. I got my first ever positive beta but sadly it turned into a biochemical as beta dropped significantly in next BT. Still wondering I should continue to take prednisolone for my next Transfer or just stop? There is no underlying healthissue to prescribe Prednisolone it was just a precautionary measure by my doc!!

I’ve tried prednisone in past IVFs and always had to stop it because my body would not tolerate it.

So how do you suppress the immune system?

My first FET just failed completely-no implantation. I was on 20 mg of prednisone per day. After watching this video, I will remove prednisone from the protocol for my next transfer. Doesn’t seem like it’s worth the risk and there’s no benefit.

Hope u see this comment, I read that full bladder during IUI increases positive pregnant than empty bladder. Is this true?

My first two FET failed. On my third, prednisone was added to my regimen and resulted in a positive. Unfortunately in my case it ended in a blighted ovum but it worked. I had implantation which I didn’t have before. Good luck and wishing you tons of sticky baby dust. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Loss of a pregnancy early on after implantation is known as a biochemical pregnancy loss. This study demonstrated that the chance for a biochemical pregnancy loss was significantly higher when prednisone was used

May be a coincidence, but the only live birth I had was after a FET with 5 mg prednisone I took from the first day of my period.

    Hi dr.
I watched your video and try to understand. I'm ivf patient failed first ( fet) bec of low hcg levels. But I believe my first transfer failed bec of wrong timing 😢. My dr. Tried to control my ovulation but I ovulate.
My period cycle is regular. Every month I ovulate ,everything is good . I don't understand what's wrong i do.

hCG in the blood means that an embryo has implanted. After implantation, a pregnancy can be lost which is called a biochemical pregnancy. Watch this ruclips.net/video/kdwvojU-KNQ/видео.html

WHOA. I’m about to adopt an embryo and do my first transfer after 4.5 years of infertility and 3 miscarriages. My doctor offered me the choice to use prednisone and I was going to do it, maybe I shouldn’t now? Do you think it increases the risk of a chemical pregnancy?
