I'm off to the Dominican Republic, a Spanish speaking Caribbean country and I'm excited to try the food and beaches. Caribbean flavors are very pronounced so I'm expecting good things. I also want to see how people from other Caribbean countries live and to improve my Spanish a bit a long the way.

I’m Dominican and I’ve always wondered why we all visit big countries but we never visit each other in the Caribbean. It should be the norm!

Blessings Steven. Enjoy the DR. A Dominican breakfast I usually enjoy is called Mangu Completo. It is boiled green plantains crushed with milk & butter then topped with a tasty sauteed onion sauce. This is served with fried cheese (yes fried cheese) fried eggs, and fried salami. I never take the salami as I'm mostly vegetarian. That goes down well with copious amount of Cafe con Leche. BTW, I enjoyed your short story on the Japanese fish. Nuff Blessings bro.

There is shopping but it's nothing that you cannot buy in Jamaica for comparative prices. Good food, good night life and great mountain hikes. In fact, they have greater mountain range/heights than in Jamaica.
