The RoadOne Aethon MT - Is It A Steaming Pile Or A Deal

- This week I'm reviewing the RoadOne Aethon MT and ask, is it a steaming pile or a deal? The RoadOne Aethon is made in Thailand, and is a bottom barrel tire, but has a look and a price that make it worth looking at. Let me know in the comments if you think it's a steaming pile or the real deal.

sooooo, the reason for hating on it is because it isn't an overly complicated, over priced, and hyped up doughnut sold by the big name brand sponsors? sometimes you don't want the fancy features.... sometimes you just want a good tire that is going to do the job without paying an arm and leg.... and a tip, most of the fancy features from the big name brands are selling points and do not work for anything other than driving up price... simple is always better.... and it's a mud tire, it's not supposed to be super silent... if you want silent then stick to street rubber...
Heard nothing but good things about them, from people that ACTUALLY run them.
Failed to mention these are made in a pirelli factory on pirelli equipment, that’s a solid backing for these tires in my opinion
I've had the Roadone Calvalry 265 75 16 which is almost identical on my lifted 2005 Jeep liberty for just over 2 years now. I live in Denver Colorado and have used them in the mountains on harsh roads, heavy snow, mud and sand, and a lot of highway driving. We get cold winters and hot dry summers and these tires have held up very well. The noise is lower than any m/t I've ever owned and at approximately 17000 miles i have well over half tread remaining. I spent $598 for the set of 4 and another $100 for install and lifetime rotation, balance and flat repair. I would give these a 10 out of 10 rating. If the Aethon are equal to the Cslvalry i will be ordering them for my lifted 02 Silverado 1500 LS. I would recommend these tires to anyone.
How can you review a tire without actually using it? That’s just some snarky biased judgment on those “overseas” tires.
Bought these for my jeep, I haven't gotten stuck yet 30000 miles and I'm not even at half tread, drive 1000 miles on the highway every month
I dunno. My friend is a distributor for these and talked me into try a set for my 2012 GMC Sierra Z-71 about 2.5 years ago. Mine were the Roadone Calvary M/T in a 305/70/17. Honestly, I didn’t have a lot of confidence in such an inexpensive tire but he promised me my money back so I tried them. The bottom line is they’ve been pretty awesome! Very little road noise. Great traction in mud too. They ride just fine. They seem to be wearing evenly too. I drove this truck with these tires on several 200-300 mile trips with no problems.
I had a set of these in a 37 on a 20 and I will say this guy has no clue what he’s talkin about cause they were the best tire I’ve ever ran lasted longer then any other mud tire I’ve had literally had these tires on pulled out the shop and was driving down the road and they had 0 tire roar and never had any issue in any mud hole I went thru with these even on a 2wd suburban still made it further then any of the 4wd trucks could I love these tires
I have been running them for about 3 years (on my second set) and after running bfg's and nittos my whole life ( I'm 47 been offroading since I was 16) I am truly extatic about these Chinese tires. I will admit that they don't last quite as long as a set of nittos but I can buy two full sets of five ( I run a full spare on the back) for what I pay for four nittos. Now I get that there is no road warranty which is why I buy 5 tires so my warranty is a full spare on deck at all times which is a way better scenario to me. These tires are also known as crosswind MTs and I highly recommend if your over paying for over priced bfg's.
I've had the crosswind version witch is the same an honestly it was good. Performed well off road. Lasted about 40k. Just hard to balance out. But overall good tire.
I had a set on my f350 6.0l. I pulled a locked up 40’s coupe up a muddy hill with no issue. The work great in sand and rock as well. They are fairly quiet. Low hum. But it is a very good tire at the price point. The longevity is about what you would expect for a mid price range mt. We didn’t have much snow when I had them, but they did pretty good in about 4” to 6” from experience.
I have these on my 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Very quiet for a MT and get around great in the snow and mud. Not sure on longevity yet because I haven’t had them long.
I had this tire for 4yrs now and they doing good
I could see putting these on a farm truck or a hunting vehicle. Thanks for looking at them and peeling back the curtain on how these tires get to our market.
I have the road one Calvary and I love them. Was looking at these for my next set of wheels just because they don’t have the size I need in the Calvary’s.
These tires are perfect for low end consumer looking for set. My amp is so loud it will drown out tire noise 👍..
Got these on my silverado and love them. They are actually quiet.
Looks like it may be good for a light farm wagon, like a hay kicker wagon or smaller gravity box. Looks like it could help with sliding around in the mud on a side slope. We used to be able to get LUGRs a heavy tread skinnier tire that worked great on side slopes but cannot find them now for many years. Tires like everything are expensive but I still try to get something made in the USA if I can.
If you could start adding tire weights and tread depth to these reviews that would be awesome
Love this real world test
