I was very patient with her and tried really hard not to slam the organization or go on rants about them because I knew she wouldn't respond favorably so I was very careful about how I approached topics and was tactful about presenting ideas and questions to her so as not to argue and explain my position. Yesterday she was talking to a sister and found out that one of the elders wife's father had passed away and that when the sister offered her condolences she was told by the elder that they weren't mourning her loss because her father had been disfellowshipped. Now she sees the cult aspects to it and can't just make excuses for it. She was very upset and apologized and thanked me for not giving up and just leaving her in the cult. Now I have to be supportive to her as she goes through the process of severing her ties and healing. I was always turned off by their red flags and resisted going against logic and reasoning to accept those teachings which led me to search the history of the organization and stop reading their propaganda. My wife and I are in our late 40's and didn't get our children involved because it's their personal choice especially because they're all in their 20's. Fortunately over the last 4 years I would point out their culty wording, teachings and general overstep in your personal life to her and she was able to see the nonsense. It came to a head for me over this summer and there was absolutely no way I could go try to convince someone else to join the cult so I told them the truth and that I didn't get the truth from them so I disassociated 3 weeks ago. I used to be a Jehovah’s Witness, born and raised and baptized at 15 in Stanley theater. I left when I was 18 and one of the things that always astounded me was that they claim they are not of this world. They claim that they are the one true religion, and even call themselves the truth. Babylon, the great, all other religions that are not Jehovah’s Witnesses, are spoken down upon, and perceived as part of Satan’s world. Ironically, almost every religion in Christianity, and I’m not going to say Christendom because they use that term as a slur against all other Christians, provides volunteerism for the community, food, financial resources, etc. Jehovah’s Witnesses are the only religion that do not take care of anyone but themselves. That is opposite of what Jesus taught us. The good Samaritan is a perfect example. He was a stranger, perhaps of a different religion and was still treated as a brother. this is the worst most selfish most narcissistic religion I have ever dealt with. I will say it again, a true Christian helps anyone regardless of their religion yet these people will never help someone else unless they know they can get hours in field service, a Bible study, or a potential convert. These are the least Christian Christians the world has ever seen.

We were on a Bethel tour in Canada & I gave the sister what would be a SIZEABLE tip for her time. I had no idea they basically had nothing money wise. Being a 20 something sister, she would have monthly "needs". I thought she was going to cry 😢 & that made me sad too.

In the days of old church donations were not only for the church but also as a savings for the poor when disaster strikes. Now that money is sent to WT & ‘alms for the poor’ come from worldly organizations.

This is something that I think about, too. Sadly, my parents won’t have much to leave behind because they’ve given their entire lives to the WT already… but what little they do have left at the very end will be given, too, despite them having 4 children and 7 grandchildren. For decades I’ve thought about how much their lives (and thus our entire family) would have been if they would’ve spent even a fraction of the time/money they gave to the WT to advancing their educations or professional careers… My mom had a full ride scholarship to MSU that she squandered to go into the “pioneer work” full time after she graduated high school. So we lived hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck, for the entirety of my life (until I moved out). I’m just grateful that me and my siblings were bright enough to get the f**k out of that trap and go to college, despite having no encouragement or direction from our parents about our education.

Years ago my family received a letter from Reverend Ike. The letter said stand in the foot prints pray and send it back along with at least 10 dollars so God will hear your prayers. And ultimately, now that the organisation isn't even printing much anymore, the donations are mainly used for the following: Buildings they don't even need (I uploaded a video about this yesterday) and propaganda videos (which are all made by unpaid workers anyway, so they cost fuck-all). Finally, JWs worldwide are effectively paying for the Watchtower Society's out-of-court settlements of CSA cases, which they tried and failed to cover up. This is wrong, wrong, wrong - on so many levels. Ordinary JWs get NOTHING back from the org. It's beyond disgusting. And this alone is indisputable proof they are NOT the true religion. They're not even a religion. They're just a cult - and a very evil one. I hardly ever donated 😂😂😂, I had volumes of kingdom melodies, movies, “books etc, for hardly anything, never felt guilty because I figured it was the spiritual food” that JeeHober was providing us because we needed it 🤷♀️.
I didn't donate much either. I figured when I 90 hr full time pioneered for six years, they got enough from me. And after I quit pioneering, wt still got little cash from me.
I also didn't donate much because I was a regular pioneer, but there was a huge stigma about this. Everybody was always talking in service field about how much this sister donates, and how much that sister gave, and I was regarded weirdly. They always know how much everyone donates. It was creepy then because I didn't understand why.

NO ONE gets to play there but Bethelites...and donations are suggested...It didn't sit well with me. They are expected to work for so little and have to pay to play!! Nothing fair about it. I recall during the pandemic, the most the Branch did in our area via the C.O was provide info on relief & food programs that local governments were providing. Also, I think the nail in the coffin for me, besides the theology, was the letter that came out regarding friends being told not to give to the friends in Ukraine independently, b/c it can cause “confusion & problems” w/ their local government, but rather contribute to The Branch who are making arrangements to take care of the friend’s needs. Come to find out, majority of that need wasn’t from a physical standpoint, but a “spiritual” standpoint. Oh, that along w/ telling the friends to live a simple life as the world is coming to an end, only to tell them to contribute to a new $400m project.

My mom is now 94 years old. She got babtized with 25. Now she lives in an elderly home, financed by the Church and the State. I asked a brother, why we do not run elderly homes for our Brothers and sisters, where they not stay with worldly people, who celebrate Xmas, eastern and birthdays? He told me, it would be too expensive. I answered, if he thinks nobody would donate, if we had installed an account, where you can give money for that matter? He said there would be many who donate, of course! So why the F… WT do not install this? Bro and Sis could work there like bethelites and the State would support these homes.
There are some unofficial JW care homes here in the UK. I read a report on one once by the care commission, the inspector was very confused that the only hobbies on offer for the residents were watching the meetings and writing letters about Jehovah.

They're already volunteering their time and skills, which is the same as giving money. Asking them to give even more says to me serious cash flow issues. Some of their biggest costs are staffing. Getting your staff to pay you cuts costs. Surely they know this will hurt morale and make people gossip and complain. This seems desperate and weird to do openly say "give us money" when they normally say everything in double layers of insinuation "we know that generous right hearted ones will support X" is usually how they phrase it, not "all bethelites are obligated to donate money$

I’ve just realised something. By using (donated) funds which they use to pay bethel workers a small allowance they have the ability to claim tax relief on the donations or claim extra tax on the donations

We were on a Bethel tour in Canada & I gave the sister what would be a SIZEABLE tip for her time. I had no idea they basically had nothing money wise. Being a 20 something sister, she would have monthly "needs". I thought she was going to cry 😢 & that made me sad too.

My mom would usually chime in how the organization wasn't like other churches that asked for money. My how things have changed. This is something that I think about, too. Sadly, my parents won’t have much to leave behind because they’ve given their entire lives to the WT already… but what little they do have left at the very end will be given, too, despite them having 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
For decades I’ve thought about how much their lives (and thus our entire family) would have been if they would’ve spent even a fraction of the time/money they gave to the WT to advancing their educations or professional careers… My mom had a full ride scholarship to MSU that she squandered to go into the “pioneer work” full time after she graduated high school. So we lived hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck, for the entirety of my life (until I moved out).
I’m just grateful that me and my siblings were bright enough to get the f**k out of that trap and go to college, despite having no encouragement or direction from our parents about our education.

Years ago my family received a letter from Reverend Ike. The letter said stand in the foot prints pray and send it back along with at least 10 dollars so God will hear your prayers. I was like what a scam sending to him will increase the chances of God hearing my prayers. Never ever would I believe Watchtower would do something similar.

Excuse my bluntness (although you wouldn't expect anything less from me) but this is fucking obscene. Bethelites do not have money, as you said. Their 'nominal' allowance is nowhere near enough, just for their basic needs (I do not know how they manage). And ultimately, now that the organisation isn't even printing much anymore, the donations are mainly used for the following: Buildings they don't even need (I uploaded a video about this yesterday) and propaganda videos (which are all made by unpaid workers anyway, so they cost fuck-all). Finally, JWs worldwide are effectively paying for the Watchtower Society's out-of-court settlements of CSA cases, which they tried and failed to cover up. This is wrong, wrong, wrong - on so many levels. Ordinary JWs get NOTHING back from the org. It's beyond disgusting. And this alone is indisputable proof they are NOT the true religion. They're not even a religion. They're just a cult - and a very evil one. They are unashamedly fleecing the 'flock' in the worst possible way - and they don't even know it (the flock; not the wolves in sheep's clothing).

I figured when I 90 hr full time pioneered for six years, they got enough from me. And after I quit pioneering, wt still got little cash from me.
I also didn't donate much because I was a regular pioneer, but there was a huge stigma about this. Everybody was always talking in service field about how much this sister donates, and how much that sister gave, and I was regarded weirdly. They always know how much everyone donates. It was creepy then because I didn't understand why.

I recall during the pandemic, the most the Branch did in our area via the C.O was provide info on relief & food programs that local governments were providing.
Also, I think the nail in the coffin for me, besides the theology, was the letter that came out regarding friends being told not to give to the friends in Ukraine independently, b/c it can cause “confusion & problems” w/ their local government, but rather contribute to The Branch who are making arrangements to take care of the friend’s needs. Come to find out, majority of that need wasn’t from a physical standpoint, but a “spiritual” standpoint.
Oh, that along w/ telling the friends to live a simple life as the world is coming to an end, only to tell them to contribute to a new $400m project.

My mom is now 94 years old. She got babtized with 25. Now she lives in an elderly home, financed by the Church and the State. I asked a brother, why we do not run elderly homes for our Brothers and sisters, where they not stay with worldly people, who celebrate Xmas, eastern and birthdays?
He told me, it would be too expensive. I answered, if he thinks nobody would donate, if we had installed an account, where you can give money for that matter? He said there would be many who donate, of course!

There are some unofficial JW care homes here in the UK. I read a report on one once by the care commission, the inspector was very confused that the only hobbies on offer for the residents were watching the meetings and writing letters about Jehovah.
There was a video produced awhile back that showed those elderly care homes run by WT were shut down. They were in such bad condition. You can probably still find it on you tube.

My whole family is messed up - 5 sisters, all witnesses and only one cousin is still attending the meetings the rest are screwed up.
They're already volunteering their time and skills, which is the same as giving money. Asking them to give even more says to me serious cash flow issues. Some of their biggest costs are staffing. Getting your staff to pay you cuts costs. Surely they know this will hurt morale and make people gossip and complain. This seems desperate and weird to do openly say "give us money" when they normally say everything in double layers of insinuation "we know that generous right hearted ones will support X" is usually how they phrase it, not "all bethelites are obligated to donate money$
I remember as a kid in the 80's living in Ohio (U.S.), people in our KH gave bc they felt obligated to "pay" for all the physical materials needed to publish and print the lit.
If I hadn't left in 2010, I'd be driven to insanity to have to watch these ridiculous marketing videos.
