Hi, nice video, tiny bit of feedback for you, bleed valves are normally closed for engine start so as to not make the starter work harder and so you don't pull fumes in to the cabin. Condition leavers go up in stages after start, first to the unfeather position, once they've unfeathered you go through the gate to min, once you're happy they're behaving themselves then to max, dont forget to set the standby alt when setting QNH. You set the required value on the COTT pre taxi/during taxi but you don't switch the system on at that point to avoid inadvertent take of power settings during taxi. You'd normally push the torque leavers through the 64 degree gate to around 20% below the set CTOT value on take off and then engage the ctot system. You're worried about asymmetric power application here as leaver position and gate position move over time and are never perfect. After departure you'd normally set climb power before running the checks which involves setting the props to approc 1230rpm, switching on the HP bleeds and if you've done a pack off departure LP bleeds too. You would also slowly wind down the CTOT to minimum setting, as you do this the torque will decrease until it matches the leaver position, then you disarm the system. Similarly on approach you wouldn't set the system to on, you'd just dial in the selected value you want and engage it on the go around. Inadvertent movement of the power leavers though the 64 degree gate and back again can basically trash an engine, cause a compressor stall or a flame out. Hope this helps, theses are basically Saab SOP. Small notes, we would also depart with 1/2 bank engaged and remove when passing 160kt, starting left engine first with ground power is generally the way it goes, GPU plugs into the right had side and starting the left purely draws from the GPU where as starting the right across the bus brings the battery into play. We also tend to do motoring starts as you get lower ITT's and longer engine life. HP bleed valves closed on approach to ensure full power available for a go around.
I agree. This Saab 340A is well worth the price and even more. It is so much fun to learn and very gratifying to fly and land. I’m flying it so much that I feel at home in the cockpit. Great tutorial! I learned some things.
An excellent tutorial! Thank you so much. I have been flying the Carenado version since the Les did not work so well. The Carenado version has all the edges sanded off..by that I mean it is smoother. I have always loved the LES version. I am glad they made it work again.. Thank you once again!
This aircraft is, by far, one of my favorite aircraft in X-Plane. Now that it has been updated to support X-Plane 11.5 and Vulcan, I'll need to dust it off and get it airborne! Thanks for this video!
LES are addressing some small bugs, one of which is that while the left engine will start with the condition lever moved forward to start without needing to lift the lever, the right engine will definitely require the lever to be pushed down into the detent position. It can be a bit of a fiddle to get it to drop down. Also if you set the IAS bug to take off speed, climb for a while & then decide to use the Climb speed setting, the aircraft will not increase to the indicated bug speed. You may then have to revert to VS climb mode. BTW, I believe that in RL where there is no available Ground Power, it is OK to battery start the right engine first. However with ground power attached it should be a left engine start so that ground personnel can be clear of the right prop. The left engine generator is used to provide start up power for the right engine. The pax doors of course would have to be closed during the procedure with a left engine start. Good tutorial video for the best turbo prop A/C available for X-Plane.
I'm happy to see that the upgrade seems to have included a much improved interaction between the cockpit controls and the mouse/cursor! Thanks for the update Q8, regards from the UK :-)
In my opinion, this aircraft is pretty underrated. It’s definitely a learning curve when it comes to learning how to handle the Saab, but I think it’s overall a really faithful rendition of the real Saab, system depth and all. Having owned it for quite awhile, I definitely enjoy it. Nice video as always!
how the mary did you get the throttle working? I cannot even grab it with the mouse and pull it back to ground idle. I have even edited the throttle curve for BETA and I am not getting ground idle or BETA :/
@@GreatYTShark I wish I could remember how (my sim is not set up atm), but I did get it working again! I think the fix was to map a new button (added in the saab update) that essentially unlocks the throttle, to a key on your keyboard or throttle/yoke. The idea is that IRL one would have to hold such a button to move the throttle past the fixed detent (if I remember correctly). Lastly, coming from someone with (albeit very limited) turboprop time, this addon really is the best on the market despite any bugs, worth the time to get it running correctly! Good luck and happy flying!
Hello people, when I arrive to destination airport at the gate and I open the Ground Support Equipment to activate the GPU it doesn't activate. Do you know what is this problem? Thank you
Interesting, I would really like to watch a A330 flight with the Kuwait Airways. Brother you are the best aviation RUclipsr every body should admit that. Your videos are my free time.
Good. Very instructional, thx Mr.Q8. Your APP Speed was actually 110 kts, not your announced 90. A bit much, captain;=) Those you only after having engaged Reverse ...
Great video, @Q8Pilot. Have you tried the new version of the LES Saab in VR as well? If so, is it working well with good support for the VR controllers?
Hello, how are you? good video, interesting, I only have one problem, I can't put the reverse, the power controls don't go back after they pass FLT-IDL, IT'S RARE...
@@Q8Pilot Well because of you once again i learned how to fly it just tonight and have completed 2 flights on FSE. However i have no working prop gauges at all. They spool up and work but the 3 numbers just stay to zero, even with full power applied. I have had this plane in my hangar forever until you. Once again thanks for the great videos.
Hi Q8, A few of us are wondering what scenery you are using for Monterey - it doesn't look like the version that's up on the Org because yours has orthophotos and that one does not. Thank you sir.
Just some notes, you set the speed bug to est. 102Kt, not 105, look at the indications, there's a short line every 5, a long every 10. Further, if you actually do the work and change the FO altimeter setting, at least change the standby altimeter as well, that's closer to the pilot :)
Hi Osamah. Would you consider booting up P3Dv5, to review and show case PMDGs triple 7 once it is released in a day or two? Would be really interesting to know your thoughts.
Well I just bought it and was VERY disappointed to find that I cannot "popout" the 530 GPS window to make it a more usable size. Every other X-plane aircraft I've flown allows this so why doesn't tis one, especially considering the price.

He's correct, whenever the CTOT wasn't deferred. Lol. On a side note, would've liked to have seen a B+.
Great remarks, Jim. Thanks a lot. I will copy paste that and will implement them in my procedures.

I can never stabilise the engines. They always fluctuate and its so annoying to fly

I’m a bit late on this one, but is there a set Vref and takeoff speeds, or is it something you can calculate?
You need to consult the manual for the Vref speeds based on aircraft weight.

Nice flight, this aircraft looks like good, what is the maximum altitude can fly this aircraft?
The SAAB 340 A has a maximum ceiling of 25,000 Ft.
In the real airplane, the start procedure is condition levers cutoff... spook the engine until N2 reaches 20%, introduce fuel.
Thanks for the info!
Which never works in the sim. Believe me i tried. Hate this plane
Same game is on Android version or?
no pc only
Anybody else's main altimeter not work?
