Thank you SO much for this free tutorial video ,the way you explained is easy to understand!! I finished in one day I love it ! ❤
Yayy I'm so glad you enjoyed making your balaclava 🤍🫰
Thanks for this detailed video on how to not only make the squares, but also clearly showing how to sew everything together!
I found a different granny square pattern that I've wanted to make into a balaclava, and I was lucky in that mine turned out to be the same size as yours! (Looked in the comments and found that you said they measure 15cmX15cm).
Having each section split up by chapters makes it really easy for me to skip ahead to the instructions that I need.
hii, you're so welcome! What squares did you make? I'd love to see it if you can share via instagram 💕
Great tutorial. My color combination was green and blue. I even made a fleece lining because it can get rather cold in Sweden
ooh fleece is such a great idea! 🤍
está hermosoooo
I made this! Thanks to you I was able to finally learn how to do granny squares and the tutorial overall was easy to follow. 😊
hi Julia, i'm so happy that u enjoyed it, hope your balaclava will keep you warm! x
Hello!! I love this video and today i completed my 4day old project. However I used acrylic yarn and tried to wash it for softening and good fragrance.. can you suggest any advice in keeping balaclava or any crochet project clean and routine for regular wash cycle?
Que lindo!!💜🌹
NEED MORE VIDEOS.....love it. Easy to learn. I am going to try this soon
thank you, Tonia! hope you'll enjoy wearing it
Thanks 😊 ❤
you are so welcome, Tala ❤
Thanks❤❤
it looks so difficult to make and you made it so easy! thank you
Hello, love your tutorial! So easy to follow, I was wondering if I were to make this for a 6 year old how many squares should I make? As obviously their head is much smaller xx
Oh, what a cute balaclava🙃
Hehe 🐝
I made this but mine came out HUGE! I don’t know what I did wrong. I really love the tutorial though, it was so easy to follow- thank you!
Im sorry to hear that, probably our granny squares have different sizes ☹️ mine was 15*15 cm btw
Me too ✋ how could it happen if we did everything exactly the same
Great video! Could you please show us another granny square that is not double 🙏
Amazing tutorial! I made it yesterday and wore it today :)
Can you do a granny square cardigan tutorial?!?
hi Sophia, that's so great!
I do have an idea to make a granny cardigan or kimono using mohair yarn or something ❣
you're absolutely amazing!! I wish more people would do long in-depth tutorials. You made this easy to follow and enjoyable!!!
aww thank you! I'm so happy that you liked the pace, my aim was to be as understandable as i can 🫡

This was my first time ever crocheting something, thank you so much for your clear and detailed explanation! I love the way it turned out 🫶🏻
Hi Mieke, I'm very glad it was helpful and thank you for writing such a sweet comment 🥰
How much yarn did you need? I dont want to run out 😅
@@StarsPuppyLove i used a single strand of yarn and ended up using 100gr of black wool and 100gr off white wool (both 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 UK hook size)
amazing, very in-depth tutorial, thank you for the video!
you are so so welcome 💓
Thank you so much!! I finished today, but think I need to make the squares tighter because mine turned out HUGE 😂
Haha yes, for reference my square are 15×15 cm, head size 56 cm 🫰
i love this tutorial! around what size head would the balaclava fit? i'm thinking of leaving the granny squares at 4 rows for a smaller size
Hey Marcela, it fits adult head size (55 cm - 58 cm or 21 3⁄4 - 22 3⁄4 inches)
Thank you for the clear tutorial, as a total beginner, I can't wait to start making it!
hi, Milly, you can do it! ✨ good luck 🦋
Such an amazing tutorial!!! Thank you so much for explaining EVERYTHING 🫶🏼 very much needed
You're so welcome! 🥰
as a hijabi thank u so much for this💘🫶🫶🫶
You are so welcome, Fatima 🤍 I hope it will keep you warm and make you feel stylish ✨
Une toute jeune magicienne avec un crochet comme baguette magique😊c'est magnifique.merci.mamiannie🤗
Thank you for a great video! I’m definitely doing this! I was wondering what the measurements of the squares are?😊
Hi, the size of each square is 15×15 cm, or 5,9 × 5,9 inches 🤍
!! hey!! thank u so much for making this!!! i never understood how to make,, well the ''granny squares'', but seeing u doing it and explaning it made everything click!!!!
sadly i wont be doing the balaclava :/ going to be honest i was just curious about seeing one being made, and clicked. but then when watching i thought ''wait a minute,,,,,,, lets try it''. Well it did take me uhhh about 3 hours and a half to make one (1) [singular] granny square, but i mean!! thats progress right?! :D!
im really happy with it!! thank u again!! u are really sweet!! 😸😸
hii, that's an amazing progress, I'm so glad you enjoyed learning! The granny square is super versatile, so it's great that you have other ideas ✨ what are you planning to make from these squares?
@@daylahanh ahmmmm! im trying to make a bag kinda? so far i have made (almost, its a wip thing yet my hands couldn't do anything after 5 hours doing crochet) 4 granny squares, i have yet to decide if its going to be 1x2 or 2x2, if that makes sense? like
ΠΠ or just ΠΠ
ΠΠ
at first i wanted a menssager bag u know? my-i have always loved that type of bag, but i dont know really 😕 can i survive doing 6 more granny squares? i have no idea 🕴 talking abt having no idea- i have no idea how i'll make the straps thing, but we will cross that bridge when we came to it
my mom said that i may have to do like a inside cloths for the inside of the bag- since the granny squares has quite a few holes i will tell u. Again i have no idea how i will do that, but its ok, despite all that and the princy PRINCY yarn, im still having a lot of fun. Its amazing creating something out of "thin air", i love the felling of it so im happy with whatever results i can came up with :)
my i talk quite a lot dont i- YET i still want to thank u again!!! thank u for teaching me how to change colours!! thank u for teaching me how to do a granny square in detail!!!
I finished this yesterday!😊
I’m Japanese so I’m not used to English tutorials but it was super easy and quick!
I bought the yarn from a hundred bucks but it looks great!
I’m using my cutest handmade balaclava today and it’s very warm and confident 💕
I’m sorry if this comment doesn’t make sense. Anyway thank you for making such a wonderful video 😊🌸
thank you for taking your time to write such a lovely feedback ❣️🥺
this is my first project and your explanation is really simple so its easy to follow
thank you so much! reading your kind comment makes me elated 💗
thank you so much for this tutorial!! I love how you explain every little detail !! I finished my balaclava and I absolutely love it!!!❤️❤️❤️
oh yayyy, so excited for you! What colors did you choose? 🥰
@@daylahanh i used dark brown and beige one and it turned out to look so nice!!
Lindo!!!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️🥰 I wonder, if this balaclava is warm? Like it's below zero and windy, won't it be cold in it?
hi, Alice, I'd suggest using thicker woollen yarn (to make holes of granny squares smaller) and/ or add a strand of kid mohair to make it warmer ❄️☃️
Hi! What size does each square have? I think I made mine too big because of thicker yarn. Thank you!
Great tutorial! I was just wondering what the measurement is of one square, because I’m using chunkier so I’ll probably need to do one less row. Thank you!🤍
thank you! Each square is 15×15 cm 🤍
Thanks so much!
Hi ! Tanks a lot for this amazing tutorial! Has I’m using a different size of yarn, I would like to know the size [in cm] of one square (they look huge). Thanks and happy christmas! :)
Hi, the size of each square is 15×15 cm, or 5,9 × 5,9 inches 🤍
Wow wow wow❤ molodesss
💕spasibo
yay i finished!! Mine was a light and dark purple! Ready for cold winter nights
Thank you for the video!! To use two strands, are you using two separate balls of the same yarn at a time?
I’m using the same yarn from one skein (1 center pull and 1 from outside)
Love this tutorial! I'm trying to make the same one using the colors you used :) just want to make sure I use the same color white, but did you use cream white or plain white 5ply milk cotton yarn? thanks
Thank you! I used milk white 🤍
Hi I'm new to crochet and knitting and I'd like to know how much yarn does this project require?
Thank you for the awesome tutorial, I was struggling with crochet until I found you!
Hi, I used ~390 m (220g) of both yarn in total, so you'll probably only need 200 meters for each colour. Hope it helps! x
so how many stitches across should each side be?
Hello:)
Making this balaclava atm:) what are the measurements of this piece according to your video?
thank u for the tutorial!! i have a question ~ do you know if i used 4 ply yarn instead of 5 would it make a huge difference? ty!!
hi Lizzie, they are in the same category of yarn, so I think the difference would be insignificant🦋
Omg thank you so much !! 🤍🤍🤍
I’m really new to crochet and I just did my second crochet piece with your video and it turned out really great !
Your instructions are very detailed and helpful, I just finished my balaclava in 3 days and I love it ! 🥹
Thank you 🤍🤍🤍
🥺❤️ I'm so happy to be a part of your crochet journey, especially in the beginning!
Hello! :) Thank you for so kindly for sharing this video. This is the first time I'm attempting grany squares. At 3:14 you place the hook through the loop, and pull that 3rd loop back onto the hook. Which loop is it that I'm pulling back on? I've slowed down the video and watched several times but cannot tell. :)
hi, in 3:10 i made yarn over which gave me the thread and i carried it with me to insert the hook through the loop and have 3 loops on the hook. Also you can keep watching and see a few more times how i make double crochet, so you can practice along 💖
Very good video! What size should one square be?
Hi, the size of each square is 15×15 cm, or 5,9 × 5,9 inches ✨
So lovely baraclava! I'm just wondering how much total milky cotton yarn do i need for 1 baraclava? (ex: black 2 yarn, white 2 yarn? Is it enough? ^^) i can't wait to make a baraclava! 😊
hi Vicky, 1 skein of black and 1 skein of white will be more than enough to make this balaclava 🤍🖤
You think that 2 mts for each colors will be enogh?
What size was each granny square in inches? I’m making a balaclava using a strawberry granny square pattern and I’m not sure if it will be large enough! Your end result size looks so perfect!
Hi, the size of each square is 15×15 cm, or 5,9 × 5,9 inches 🤍
@@daylahanh thank you so much!
Terrific great tutorial. I live in Sweden and I wonder what 5 ply milkcotton is like. Is it DK, light, nr 3? Those are the only specifications I am used to I am afraid 😢❤
Hii, I'd suggest try medium-bulky yarn and using the according 5 mm hook size if you are planning to crochet with 1 strand, if with two - then light. Hope this was helpful
can you share gauge info? what are the dimensions of one square? i’m using a thicker yarn than what’s recommended but i want my gauge to match!
hi, my square is 15*15 cm (5.9 *5.9 in) and my head circumference is 57 cm, i hope this helps!
Should I put the grannys in a blocking board before stitching them together?
Hi Aurora, I think for this project it is optional, but blocking would make your squares neater. In my case I didn't block
I would love to try this tutorial! Just one question, how much yarn did you use for this entire project? (in meters?) :)
Hi Dorothea, it's approximately 220 m of each colour (black & white), but I used scrap yarn, so it's just a rough estimate, hope it helps!
@@daylahanh thank you so much!!
Hello, may I know how many cm is one granny square please?
this is such a cute project! im working on it right now but my holes/chain spaces are really big. what am i doing wrong?
Hii 🤍
Maybe try using a smaller hook size?
i just finished the project! thank your for making such a clear and detailed tutorial😊 i can't wait to gift the balaclava to my friend for xmas
heyy, thank you so much for the tutorial!!!! how big is one square supposed to be? :) i use a diffrent yarn and make larger stitches so i need to know!! :)) TYSM
Mine is 15*15 cm (5.9*5.9 in) 💗
@@daylahanh ohhh thank you so much for the fast response! 🌸
