There’s a MAPA version you haven’t seen. Kalayaan 2021, filmed at the Metropolitan Theater where MAPA Band Version was recorded and Josh filmed Yoko Na. It’s a beautiful version and the outfits were chef’s kiss.
I rarely comment on reactors but, you deserve to be comforted. All along the video, it’s very noticeable you just keep it in. I’ve been in your shoes where we were told that my mom only has a few weeks left. I was still, I think, at that time, in denial. Death is an unpleasant part of life because there is certainty you will not see that person anymore. It’s hard but just because you won’t see them, it doesn’t mean they will leave you in the mercy of circumstances. My sister also passed away just 3 years ago and she stood up as like the mom for us for a time, and her passing, was sudden. Either way I know they guide us, my family through trials. I will always remember the things they taught and passed down to me. And I will pass it forward to someone else.
Be strong and let things be. God will also guide you along the way.

Mapa is a difficult song for me to hear. I have to be in a good place to listen to it. My mom passed away in 2020. I am forever grateful to her and will never stop missing her. Stay strong. Sending love and hugs your way.

Stay strong @raionhime and know that everything will be alright. Make sure you spend everyday you can afford with your Mom. Use "MAPA" as a motivation and assurance to your Mom that you are ready to take on the wheel and charge towards everything life will throw at you. The Mahalima for sure intended this Song to inspire and remind everyone how valuable love, honor and respect is towards our Elders and family. MAPA holds a special spot in my A'TIN heart.

Lyrics of this song is so beautiful. "Tahan na" or "ta'n na" is not simply stop crying in Filipino. It is a phrase exclusively used by parent/guardians. You say "tahan na" to your kid to tell him/her "it's okay/I'm hurting too when I see you cry/your Dad/Mom is here now, no more worries" It is a verbal equivalent of a parent's hug.
You are not supposed to tell an adult to "tahan na." It's never said by a offspring to a parent. But MAPA is just something else. It is a reverse-role lullaby (Lataratrara). That is why it hits hard.
