A while ago I built (most of) a rec/community center in Kiyomatsu Point (50x50). I got the idea while I was doing the stolen parents scenario and wanted a place they could go for activities and community instead of an empty house, and have a warm shelter if in theory they lost the house. I used the community lot from Eco Lifestyle, and because Shigeru(?) doesn't want it developed, I challenged myself to not move/delete any of the trees, and keep the above ground building minimal. So it's basically all underground with an elevator down (everything except the climbing walls was designed to be wheelchair accessible), and skylights fit between the trees (that are permanently snowed on and dark T_T). I probably spent the most time on putting together a spreadsheet of all the plants, and having a program organize them into seasons (three greenhouses and an above ground garden for winter). It has a gym, yoga room, meditation room, a couple massage rooms. A crafting room, and sell tables where you can donate your crafts or buy others' to help fund the center. Locker/shower room, pool (with a small room on the side for the toddler pool), sauna, hot spring. A community kitchen for cooking classes, but also a place to make your own food using all the produce grown there, and serves the cafeteria. Cafeteria is great for parties, and comes with a stage for musical/acting performances. There's a library/computer lab, with a behind-the-bookshelf room for the owners. Two rec rooms - for kids, and adults. And emergency housing rooms with storage lockers and laundry facilities. There's also a space for strays to stay out of the cold, and the snow jungle gym above ground. At first it was just kind of a branch here, a branch there, sticking skylights and the rooms where they'd fit between the trees, and just connecting them with hallways. I ended up using almost every tile of that lot 'XD
I mean, she built this on stream which btw was pretty difficult, there’s a lot of unwanted comments, i could never do it myself, so let’s appreciate her for that too!
Just watching you build this is making me want to build a recreation center of my own with a pool, separate toddler and kids’ playgrounds, basketball courts (both inside and outside) and a designated skill building area for any skill I can think of that would be commonly used/considered useful aside from the required skill building items.
I love my 64X64 lot. I've made it a family lot. Main house is now the adult/grandparents house, another rouse is for all the kids and the main family. I have a camping area, abbar/gazeebowith pool, the roller and ice rink, music area with it, farm animals and garden, with a green house. I love it!!
One of the first builds of yours I will DEF be downloading! I have all of these packs and have been too lazy to build my own rec center. Thank you for making an unrestricted rec center, I absolutely love it!
All I could think of in the beginning was how you at 3:46 missed the opportunity to use the expression "...and all of that jazz" in reference to the music room 😂😂
My thing is that I hate how all the big lots are usually already dedicated to something community-based, and are situated dead-center of busy areas. There aren’t enough large residential lots. They don’t have to be 50x50 huge…but maybe 40x40 or even 40x30? 30x30 and 30x20 lots seem so small to me. You end up having to sacrifice either house space or land space.
My current legacy heir meets with her "after school art club" at the rec center! Its such a lovely lot and it's clear how much thought you put into it!
I live next to a rec center and in fact, my school has gym class in the Rec center. And this is not over done at all. My rec center has all sorts of things. A roller skate rink, multiple gym areas, multiple pools, an art room, a skating rink, multiple party rooms, multiple day care areas, two cafeterias, an indoor basketball court, indoor volleyball court, gymnastics room, ballet room, an overall dance room, a yoga room, and probably more that I don’t know about. It’s huge, with a huge parking lot as well. It’s got a lot.
I LOVE this build. I needed something for a toddler play date and this is perfect. Its so nice to be able to have somewhere to bring Sims and every age group has something to do.
They should come out with a gym pack which includes more equipment like squat racks, weights, benches, machines and generally more workout equipment/interactions. I would definitely buy it as i make alot of my sims pretty gym orientated.
Love this build! I created a couple of clubs using Get Together, one for music class ( activities are playing music etc) one for art class etc and I set this Rec centre as our hangout. It’s makes this lot the best place in the world!
As a parent, I am obsessed with places that have random pack and plays. ESPECIALLY in a family washroom, cause then I don't have to put my baby on the ground while I pee 😅
You did a great job on the Rec Center you did for EA and I love this one too. Will definitely download this. You're so talented. Snap is a cute kitty. I love seeing her appear in your videos.
Sometimes I wish you’d post the sped up footage with nothing cut out and just relaxing music or something over it as well as these videos. Because you always say we don’t need that, but I’d honestly love to see it, it really helps to see other people’s methods. I love your content anyway, just saying what I personally wish for.
At the rec center I work at, we have a weight room, a pool, an indoor basketball court, 2 meeting rooms, and above the basketball court there is a track to walk and 2 ballet studios for like yoga classes. Outside we have an outdoor pool with water slides, baseball fields, and a playground that is built for kids with disabilities
this is one of my favourite lots you've done simsie, it's so well done and i love how it literally has everything that your sims could do. if i had all the packs, i would download this in a heartbeat. amazing job! :D
I loved it, it's AMAZING! We needed this so bad! I was kind of expecting to see the climbing wall that is SO hard to put ANYWHERE. Totally gonna add it when I download it!
Honestly, I love the ball pit. It gets the toddlers motor skill up so fast! I only got the base game update for infant stuff, and I am so upset that the playmats didn't come in the base game! And the changing table. Ugh, but i am playing a legacy challenge now and can't wait for my first infant! I just built a baby room! Thank you for all that you do!
I love how Kayla says “no one needs to sit here and listen to me talk over footage for an HOUR straight”…. As if I don’t sit and watch her videos for over an hour at a time
I would watch you build rec centers once a week for the rest of the year. This is great content and what a good build. I especially appreciate all the pack incorporation
I love the rec center that you built for the pack, but absolutely added a ton of stuff to it with the other packs. Toddler park equipment, gardening stuff, swings, even a dog agility course. I go to this lot with my kids and pets and inlaws and neighbors, etc, ALL THE TIME. I cannot wait to place this one in my game. I love to see what simmers come up with using new packs and base game, but I love the renovated versions everyone comes up with when they can use more packs. Like James Turner's high school lot? Gorgeous. Or your main lot in the magic world. I rarely play with spellcasters but I use all your lots for that pack because they're SO good.
Honestly, this kinda reminds me of the church I grew up going to. Like obviously the church building was there but they had a whole rec hall where there was a cafeteria that wasn’t staffed regularly but you could use for events, a big hall for wedding receptions, a gym with basketball and volleyball, outdoor basketball courts, a stage in the gym, an outdoor play structure, a prayer garden, plus a whole ass elementary school etc. like you could really do anything there and I think that’s kinda the idea of these rec centers, just secular which I think is awesome!
Okay with Kayla using the ballpit in this build I kinda wanna see her try and build a McDonalds play place/chuck e cheese kinda fast food restaurant now (using the ballpit of course)
The tragic clown painting has been a thing since sims 1. I’ve been playing sims since the very first sims 1 ep (livin’ large) came out. There was a lot less for sims to do at that point, if you can imagine, so I had the clown visit on many, many occasions. (Plus I was a kid, so I, of course, thought it was the funniest thing ever!)
Getting these small fun behind the scenes glimpses like the last minute clown painting request from simmers who've built lots for the game is so much fun, even though I don't think anyone's ever going to beat that time a developer just stole James Turner's terrain paint and put it outside the lot 🤣
The rec center in game reminds me a lot of the two rec centers in the town I live in. Originally built to give families something to do and somewhere to go, but also a good resource for the homeless and people with a little less money than others ❤
8:02 thank you so much for mentioning the basketball bug! I was beginning to think it was just me wanting to yeet my sims into oblivion every time they'd stop cooking mid meal to go play basketball 😂
I love imagining what it would be like to live across from this place in real life... After school every tuesday you go to swimming lessons or art club or piano class. When you're done you head down to the cafeteria and you beg your mom to buy you a simi capsule every time but she only does it if you did extra good in school that day. When you get older you go down by yourself to play board games against the local elders who teach you life lessons you never forget. You and your friends paint big murals and splash each other at the pool....
You should have put in the climbing tunnels (or the whole toddler structure) it would have taken up more space. Also exterior could have been taken up by a splash pad.
Now this is amazing! My computer may want to blow up from using it but hay I love it with all the stuff to do on one big lot😊 Not sure about the cow plant.. those things creep me out but I know most people love them like you do! I know as long as you don’t eat the cake you’re fine but they still give me shivers 😂❤
This turned out amazing! I saw some of the footage live and I am honestly impressed how well you endet up handeling all of the ideas and "critiques" in the stream. It partially was really mean, but you made something incredible out oft it! Adore this!
I feel like the "kids/toddlers/infant" space is more like the "daycare" portion of the Rec/Community center, even IRL. A lot of time parents are coming for their own needs and drop their kid off for an hour or two in the daycare space, especially if they don't have classes for the kids that line up with what the adult is there for. My local Y also has an after school space which is unstructured activities for the most part. Kids can get help with homework/do their homework on their own and if they don't have that, the activities for the day are random. Everything from playing on the playscape to obstacle courses and relays out in the field or just tumble time in the "soft gym" indoors if the weather is crummy. The Ys where I live are pretty amazing. I admit that. But for the cost of a family membership, you get access to some amazing stuff if you have kids that would cost triple or quadruple the cost if you had to pay for them independently.
i immediately downloaded this, kayla. other versions were too much, I like how simple this is, although I did add more gym equipment. ❤❤❤ thank you so much
this rec center you built here is def much more realistic to an actual rec center. i would go to rec center every day for a few summers as a kid. now i want to re create the rec center i grew up at!!
I have an idea for a Sims challenge that might be fun to try out 🤔 Move into a house, whichever size you want to, but the house is completely empty and you need to furnish it. The rest is kinda like rags to riches, except that you are not allowed the usual tricks of any successful get rich quick schemes, so no painting, digging for treasures, frog breeding, fishing etc. You are only allowed, at the start at least, to earn your money via your job, which you start at lvl 1. Then, you need to furnish your home in a realistic way, meaning, you cannot buy a, f.e. tread mill before you buy the basics (bed, toilet, fridge, oven, shower/bath) and you can buy those in any order you prefer. Next you are allowed to buy things that will help you gain skills you need to lvl up in your job, like a mirror for charisma (you are not allowed to use community lots or other sims' houses to upgrade your skills; if one wants to be more cruel toward your sims, it could be fun to have the additional challenge of not being able to use things like toilets, showers, beds, kitchens (or any free food for that matter) from any other lots than your home) You can eat your meals elsewhere, so long you can pay for them - no stealing from other sims or eating food that other sims make!! Only then you can buy other items like a PC or an easel (and only then you start to earn the money via painting, writing, programming etc). If anyone ends up trying the challenge, I hope you have fun!! 😊
I live in Australia and down the next street is a recreation centre type of property, in the main building is girl guides, youth recourses, a gym, martial arts and gymnastics club next closest building is a bowling club and then the other side is a badminton centre, a tennis club and there’s two big open fields one is the sporting club for footy, soccer cricket ect and a smaller one for the junior football club
Wasn't watching some of your newer videos because I had a 18 hour car ride. I wanted to save them for! I am absolutely happy I did because I now have something to do!
This is amazing! Should've added the photo booth in the party room, I'm sure your sims would like a pic with the sad clown :> You brought up malls so mall build when with a basement arcade and a rooftop cafe... rooftop cat cafe? yes please. :3
I saw the original build video first.. this one was hard to find. I wish it were linked in the comment section of the original video. Thanks so much for the update on this lot. You have done a fantastic job.
Imagine they made a 120×120 lot, imagine how chaotic but creative making a lot with that size. A Pure Legacy Lot with Generations with a lot size that big would literally be a dream with Rags to Riches as well.
I used to have an awesome rec center in my old town. It has a basket hall court and a video Game Center and lots of other stuff. Definitely a community hangout spot.
Omg yes the basketball court/hoop. I had put one on my home lot, and any time I told my Sim to paint (in a greenhouse in the backyard), she would walk to it and COMPLETELY IGNORE ME and go play basketball. They would make food while their hunger was so low and just put it on the floor then go play basketball.

This would be so good for the 100 babies challenge. There’s stuff for all ages so that the kids can gain skills while the mom can work out or paint
I mean... You could also use them as residential lots and build your own community lots on smaller ones or download some off the gallery :)
I love it when you use multiple packs! Even if they are ones I don't have, it's much easier to swap things out than re-make lots myself !
When I read the title I was like "oh no, not the rec center again" hahahahaha omg those livestreams!!!!!
pls get ur cat a mini-computer! cats tend to walk over your stuff because they want to be doing it with you (and also it'd be iconic)
I love seeing her appear in your videos.
the inside of this feels so nostalgic, reminds me of the YMCA we'd go to when i was a kid
also i love building on 64x64 lots, such a fun challenge!
Sometimes I wish you’d post the sped up footage with nothing cut out and just relaxing music or something over it as well as these videos. Because you always say we don’t need that, but I’d honestly love to see it, it really helps to see other people’s methods. I love your content anyway, just saying what I personally wish for.
This building is amazing! I don’t have some of the packs but I still downloaded it and modified it. It has everything!
A 64x64 lot is a nightmare lol 😅
This is such a really pretty build! OMG! Kayla you've really outdone yourself I love it and will use it all the time!!!😻💕😭
At the rec center I work at, we have a weight room, a pool, an indoor basketball court, 2 meeting rooms, and above the basketball court there is a track to walk and 2 ballet studios for like yoga classes. Outside we have an outdoor pool with water slides, baseball fields, and a playground that is built for kids with disabilities
I think the chandelier looks beautiful! Especially with the high ceiling. The entirety of your decorating looks Amazing!
this is one of my favourite lots you've done simsie, it's so well done and i love how it literally has everything that your sims could do. if i had all the packs, i would download this in a heartbeat. amazing job! :D
This build looks so cool and I love all the little details, like the sink in the art room or the barre in the music room!!
I loved it, it's AMAZING! We needed this so bad!
I was kind of expecting to see the climbing wall that is SO hard to put ANYWHERE. Totally gonna add it when I download it!
I really enjoy seeing you use those random items from various packs in something like this. Makes the game feel more cohesive than it often seems lmao
I love how simsie is embracing and seeking out the discomfort of trying new thing 😂✨
Oh, skating rinks, I put one in mine too, and one in every neighborhood. It's so cute for dates and for family get togethers
I resonate with 1:01 so much 😭 I’m happy building on comfy cubby😂
I love this oml. I swear though, if you wanna add anything else, a dog activity course would also fill in more space.
Kayla this is the best lot ever!!! Placing immediately, can't wait to have my artist nana do the mural while the kids build skills and baby naps 😍
Yeeeeesss! This is amazing! I've been wanting something like this! Love when you build without resteictions, the outcome is incredible
I was hoping you'd do something like this! I think the original lot is great, but I have most of the packs so this is gonna be more fun to play in 💛
I love all the little details like the sink in the art room
I was kind of spacing out while dual streaming, and I came back into focus to GIANT SAD CLOWN. So jarring, I snort laughed.
As a former YMCA Child Watch employee... this is VERY accurate. (Baby crib included.)
That fountain looks like a mansion model. You could build a house that makes the fountain's format!
i love how you rebuild all your builds you do to make them how you want!
did y'all know you can resize the mural blueprints and they'll still work!! and the paintings will be scaled as well.
Good to know! Thanks!
This was way to fun to watch 😊😂 I also love how she just does these kind of things for us to watch 😁
I love this!! Can’t wait to use this in my game
Now this is amazing! My computer may want to blow up from using it but hay I love it with all the stuff to do on one big lot😊 Not sure about the cow plant.. those things creep me out but I know most people love them like you do! I know as long as you don’t eat the cake you’re fine but they still give me shivers 😂❤
im so impressed with this! you don't build many big lots but this one feels so full and cozy!
i think this is my favorite build ive seen you do! it all looks so nice together and you can clearly see the effort you put into it
This turned out amazing!
I have an idea for a Sims challenge that might be fun to try out 🤔
Move into a house, whichever size you want to, but the house is completely empty and you need to furnish it.
will definitely be using this one from now on, so much more to do when you add pack stuff
I've used the gym decals from growing together waaaaaaay more than I thought. Anything with a gym they look great in
Wasn't watching some of your newer videos because I had a 18 hour car ride. I wanted to save them for! I am absolutely happy I did because I now have something to do!
This is amazing! Should've added the photo booth in the party room, I'm sure your sims would like a pic with the sad clown :>
You brought up malls so mall build when with a basement arcade and a rooftop cafe... rooftop cat cafe? yes please.
Skate rinks aren't debug; you can buy them in build/buy without any cheats (unless you need a money cheat to afford it)
You have no idea how much I'm going to use this build-
So many cute family pictures and stuff will happen here!!!
I am actually impressed by the fact that the first reaction wasn't "BOWLING ALLEY"
I genuinely love the kitty cameos :D I wish I could afford all those dang packs so I could get all your pretty builds !!
