- Hey guys! Did you recently get married outside the U.S. and looking to sponsor your spouse? Or are you stuck in the process of sponsoring through a CR-1 Visa? Is your spouse a U.S. Citizen or a GreenCard Holder?
Then you can definitely enter the U.S. through the process of CR-1 Visa, which is the United State's Spouse visa category.
In this video, I'm sharing the list of documents and other details regarding the third step in your Visa Journey, which is Interview Preparation for your interview at the local embassy. This step concerns the Embassy and is very important in processing your CR-1/IR-1 visa. Please do your own research as well. This video only illustrates my own experience, as I am not an immigration lawyer. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding U.S. Immigration.

For the CR1 Visa interview: do we need to take original I-864 signed with black ink or a submitted scanned copy printed out would work? Its not mentioned anywbere clearly and is causing a lot of confusion. Please help me out❤️ Thank you!
Thank you for such kind words. I just took my scanned copies of I864 to interview. My husband uploaded original on CEAC portal. It worked:) Updated I864 must be uploaded as well.

Not too needed. Main documents are marriage documents and civil documents like beneficiary birth certificate and evidenced of bona fide marriage.

Thank you for super video. I have few questions as my Spouse is scheduled for interview. My attroney paid the fees for Application. I dont see Invoice ID number. It has only Case #. At present my spouse is in india how is it possible to pay visa fees & affidavit of support. Do i need to give my US acc #?? Can you please clarify. Thank you. Hi Rajesh, thanks for your question. When your case is sent to NVC, you (or your lawyer) will get the Notice of Immigrant Visa Case Creation email from NVC. In that email you will have the Case ID and the Invoice ID Number. You need both of these to login into your CEAS (NVC) website. There you have to pay the Affadavit of Support fees and the immigrant fee. The fees must be paid online through the same page portal in CEAS, you cannot pay externally through a bank/credit card.

I have only one name NAVEED in my birth certificate and only one name in my passport when I was filling DS 260 form it mention write last name then I will write last name end first NAVEED NAVEED write down it is issue or not? Hello @Ramsha it’s very informative video. Thanks for sharing your experience. Actually I have a question you didn’t tell about pay stubs. We need most updated pay stubs or previous pay stubs which we upload at USCS or NVC. Please guide me
So my petitioner submitted his most recent paystubs once at the time of USCIS initially and later 2 weeks before my interview he submitted latest ones too cuz it was almost a year difference. I took all of them as evidence to my interview as well.
Also as my petitioner changed jobs during this time. He uploaded paystubs from both jobs as proof of earning

They’re not defined just whats easy to handle and enough photos to show you and your spouse with friends and family and with each other. Also if u get a chance uplaod of ceac website some pics too before intervoew

Hello Sana, thanks for your question. Humne sab se phele I-864 upload kia tha jab humara case NVC me pohoncha tha. Phir uske 1 year baadh jab interivew ka time aya, toh iske dauraan mere husband ne ek new tax return submit kia uss saal ka ( unki job aur salary bhi change hui thi islie bhi). Toh iss liye interview se 2 weeks phele unhone naya I-864 form fill karke upload kia tha CEAC website pe (in Additional AOS supporting documents section mien). Nae tax documents bhi upload kie the r W2 bhi kuki ye cheexen safe side pe rehne kelie latest chaiye hoti hain. (Whatever his last tax return is) Aap ko I-864 form mil sakta hai iss link se:

Walikumsalam Kamal Hussain! Thank you for your question. So it takes around 2 to 3 months for NVC to give you DQ (Documentary Qualified) Status. And after that due to backlog these days its taking another 6-7 months on average for interview.

Salam! You mentioned about police certificate. I’ve uploaded that on the NVC portal but the police certificate is only valid for a year. Should I just take the same one or should I get a new one made?

Hey Ibra! Thank you for your question. I would say considering your situation kindly consult a lawyer for further and proper guidance. With my limited knowledge I can say that I have heard cases when already applied visas in any category do need a paperwork to avoid issues later on in the process. Good Luck!

Hi Rizwana, maine as such koi document attest nahi karvaya. Police certificate already government agency ka hota hai aur woh attested tha. Uski photocopy upload ki thi NVC aur original interview mein lekar gayi thi. Marriage registration certificate bhi NADRA ki taraf se hota hai toh already attested hota hai. Text aur video call ki detail maine interview se phele NVC pe upload ki thi. Good Luck!

For each sponsor (Main and Joint) you should submit on CEAC portal:
- Appropriate I-864
- Most recent Tax return transcript (or tax return), plus last 2 years as well tax return
- W-2 (or 1099)
- Proof of U.S. Status (green card, naturalization certificate, etc.)
- Proof of domicile (I.e. Driver's license, utility bills, etc.)
- 3 most recent months of pay stubs
Interview mien sirf Updated I-864 lijaana zaroori hoga for every sponsor, yeh saare supporting documents nahi (sirf upload karna zaroori hai on NVC.)
Should we get original documents like affidavit of support, tax returns or w2.or only copies..bkz my spouse who is in US has all documents.
He will send you emails and you can just print those and take them to interview. All your original docs have been uploaded at NVC stage.

For Pakistan? NVC doesn’t require police certificate for Pakistan. If you still want to upload you don’t need to attest it

Hello, you should inform the consular office at your interview of the mistake and ask to have it corrected. Also, make sure you have your ds-260 confirmation page printed.

I think if he logs into CEAC portal it will still give him an option to download. Its better to have Affidavit of Support with you at the time of interview just to be ok safe side. They didn’t ask for mine tho but I still kept it with me.

Hi Harpareet! As per my knowledge you need police certificate from different countries if you’ve ever lived. Within india it should be one from where you are or have been living for past 6 months. But you must definitely call your regional passport office and confirm this situation to clear any confusion.

Yes you would need UAE police certificate if you were over the age of 16 when you lived in UAE. The rule is if you lived in a country for 1 or more year after your 16th birthday, you need that country’s PCC.

What is Petitioner W2?
Hi Arsalan, thank you for your question. The petitioner is the person in U.S. sponsoring their spouse. The W-2 is a document that their employer issues, which is needed to submit yearly tax. It contains wages, taxes paid, etc. all the financial information NVC needs to see if they can financially sponsor a person.
