Frustrating as hell too! I found that once I knew how to abuse the auto-aim/lock on system, the game became a bit easier. The driving segments are some of the most frustrating moments in gaming for me. 😂
They need both The Getaway games a remaster but sadly it wont take the attention it needs because most people(youngsters) dont even know it and still, they wont give it a try or even pay attention to it since its not a GTA... I'm sure it will be released as a classic after some years but until then...who lives who dies.
Sony is really sitting on a goldmine here, Rockstar is dicking off with GTA Online and us oldheads want more gritty crime games. This is a perfect opportunity to re-introduce The Getaway to a new audience, with modern features.

i really enjoyed the getaway and the getaway black monday, i had them both on my ps2 year's ago. i remember watching a trailer and it was real footage and for ages i was searching for the getaway movie on dvd but no luck there lol apparently this short movie was just for the trailer only.

I loved the first game! I played a bit of the second game but didn’t like it as much as the controls were a lot different and it felt to me like it lost its magic that the first game had, especially with the driving and the combat and some of the storylines.. and yasmin as an npc ally from the first game was the best thing ever.. having a pal get in and out the car with you and shoot cops with you was so badass!! I’m currently trying to emulate the ps2 on my laptop so I can play this game over and over without the disc breaking and the game stuttering and the game crashing on the start up menu lol!! Good times!! #2000’sbaby
As someone's who's been replaying Black Monday recently, the thing thats aged the worst by far is the 3rd person cover ahooting controls. Its very stiff, and outside of an absurdly inaccurate auto-aim, you can't move and shoot, and its surprisingly difficult to actually take cover against an object (whilst there's also no crouch button).
It's crazy reading this because Black Monday is such a huge improvement imo over the original in the shooting controls. But by modern standards, yeah its still incredibly stiff.
Sucks to know The Getaway 3 was cancelled to shift focus onto games like Singstar etc lol They NEED to Remaster/Remake The Getaway and Black Monday. Also True Crime Streets of LA and True Crime NEW York City. Both amazing PS2 classics l miss.

This might be a similar story for GTA 6 if the son/daughter rumors are true Lucia and Jason doing what they have to do to save their kid. We had a tiny taste of a similar premise in RDR2 with Jack and the Italian mob in Saint Denise

I find rhis game utterly impossible. When popping out of cover you cant just be holding auto aim, you need to eait until your pop out animation is over and then hold r1. By then you have already taken at least 1 shot. Wanna auto aim? Good luck, you can only walk whilst aiming and there is no reticle. Thay said the attention to detail in the game is incredible and made me very sad the game is simply WAY too hard, in my opinion.
I'd settle to just have both of them on the PS Plus bs. How they have the ps One/2/3/psp games etc. Just to be able to play them again (on a PS5 obv) would honestly be enough. The fact is, ATM, you either play via emulation (which is trash IMHO but to each their own) or PS2 and why? It was never ported/released on anything else, ever. So f "remakes" I personally am also very highly AGAINST remakes. (If people went back and played games, if they were true fans, n more games just got backwards compatibility etc. u wouldn't NEED trash remakes period.) As they just slow down progress.
