Super cool to see that people are still interested in this game! I worked on it for about 5 years and it was such a wonderful experience. I met a lot of lifelong friends working on FAS :)

the m16a4 is actually an m16a2 due to the carrying handle not being removable and the old type classic handguard without rails and such

These were probably the most realistic firearms animations of the time (having said that 3.0 of the og hl1 FA mod was even more ahead of its time in this regard)
Having said that slightly disappointing that they did not go with the HK slap for the MP5 and G3 series!
Extremely underated and unapreciated how good the animations and sounds are.

It was crazy, our animator/technical person was relentless. I think there were around 200 animation files for one of the machine guns. The reason was we had to account for the reload animation depending on how many bullets were left in the chain when you reload if I recall correctly.
@@CanadianReset That's remarkable! You say "our animator/technical person", singular; did FA:S 2.x really only have one animator? My mind is blown by the amount of high-detail animation done just for that mod, among the rest of the assets, especially if it was one guy!
@@wetshoelace3338 Yeah I think he did about 95% of all the FAS animations. One of the most talented game devs I ever met.
I think he also may have done a few animations for FA2 and was also one of the creators of the original Firearms Quake!
Honestly I learned more from him than I did at college haha.

And even have more updated version named Customizable Weaponry 2.0
No amazing reload animation in cw as revolver got here though
May Sparkle not released in Steam. FAS 2.0 client uses only Source 2007 from Steam
And I thought this was a gmod addon.

@@GuardianStriker the old GldSrc mods were quite popular. I also played Firearms Source in its alpha stages. The problem is, that when they released this version, they released it far too late. It was in development for quite a long time and lost its following, and released in a time where source mods were already dying and had gone out of style. I never even played Firearms Source 2.0 because by the time it released A. I didnt even know it released. and 2. I was done with Source by that time.
@@BlindxSide It's a shame too because I actually played Firearms: Source when it still had a few handful of players. I sucked at it just like every other multiplayer game, but it was still an amazing mod.
why the mp5 only 15 bullets ?

ahmad bassam no they don’t standard mags use 15 rounds
There are short mags for the Mp5 to keep the weapon compact. C-Mags makes you look like you're about to rob a bank or something.
In-game, the MP5-K is considered a PDW, and as such, is equipped in the secondary weapons slot. The mod devs didn't want players to have what would basically be a primary weapon in the secondary slot, so they limited its stock mag capacity to 15 for the sake of balance, along with making it more expensive than the regular semi-auto handguns. You could, however, buy 30 round magazines for extra points if you wanted to.

The HK51 can be summed up as a "chopped down G3 fitted with MP5 furniture with a HK21 feed system installed". Its a crazy modification in the American Aftermarket crowd often called the "Vollmer Conversion" and is NOT officially endorsed by H&K.
