My grandmother was Canadian and used to make them all the time I haven't made them in 15 years at least. I've got to go looking for your recipe!

I just read in your bio that your parents were boat refugees before immigrating to Canada, my sister in law was a boat refugee from Vietnam, the boat was supposed to come to Australia but they ended up in New Zealand. Her family stayed in NZ but she came to Australia as a young adult eventually, met my brother in law and had two beautiful children with him and became a successful business woman 😊
