Yeah he doesn't tell you all that. I rebuilt then I had to go put everything back in order with folders etc. Then went to resume the copy and what before was maybe a 30 minute wait for copying turned into an hour and a half re-download plus another copy.
TIP: after looking through tr he comments if some one is thinking of doing it dont! Rebuilding the database mid copy or update will reset the update, make you redownload the entire game or lose saved data. However recommended you do rebuilding you database if you system is feeling sluggish since it can very well help it out.
I’m about to try this, I hope I have the same luck as you. I have faster internet than the guy in the video, my updates take five minutes at most but my copying takes at least one hour. It’s so ridiculous!
I have the SSD I bought and put in my PS4 Pro. It was really fast, copying too. It’s gotten very slow lately, like old Hd times. I rebuilt the database thanks to your video. It took me 20 seconds but I hope this helped my issue. Thanks for the video!
Guys, rebuilding the database will only speed up the copying only a tiny bit to the point it makes no huge difference. The bigger the game in size, the longer the update files will take to copy. PS4/Pro is running quite old hardware for todays standards and the read/write speed on its disk is just very slow. If you truly want quick file copying/load times then invest in an SSD for your PS4/Pro or buy a PS5.
THIS WORKS! *BUT* It will entirely delete the game and you will have to re-download immediately afterwards. So it will not make your current session faster to play. But it will make your future copying much faster. Looking forward to much faster downloads in the future. 😁
if your game copying it will restart the whole download and take so long to download but you’re ps4 will drastically improve in speed download/upload mbs and it will run way faster so it 100% worth it
The thing is, you stop at (lets say) 34%. The ps4 already saved that 34% so when it says 0-100% it’s actually downloading the other 66%. It’s a weird feature i know.

Is this really true I put my ps4 on rest mode after it was done 10% copying and when I turned it back on 40 min later it started copying from beginning at 0%.
@@halo199393 it shows the % of what is left to copy not the whole file, meaning if the ps is in rest mode then whatever downloaded/copied in rm isn't counted in that %
@Chic 'N' Stu you're lucky, but before this copy system got introduced if someone's power goes out while installing the update there would be no backup and they'll have to reinstall the whole game
When you do the rebuild database method, make sure you currently aren't installing any updates for a certain software. For example, I was installing an update for Overwatch and GTA V and went to rebuild the database. What happened was that both games had to update from the beginning (like when the game says Ready to Play but isn't fully installed and in the notifications it's still updating) yeah, don't be stupid like I am.

Just buy a PS4 Pro and switch out the hard drive to a solid-state drive. PS4 Pro has SATA3. granted I can’t take full of vantage of the solid-state drives potential but it doesn’t help a lot better than just the vanilla PS4. My copying never takes longer than 10 minutes now for a modern AAA title. Used to take 40 minutes to an hour before.
DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO REDOWNLOAD YOUR GAME. I had a 600 mb update that took 2 minutes and the copying update file got to 20% in 30 minutes so I did this, and I am now redownloading the entire game.
Rebuilt my database and it deleted warzone app off my library...not only did I have to wait 1hr to redownload 77.266 gb...I also had to wait 2hrs for the game to copy it again....Thanks a lot dude...next time I guess I’ll just be patient instead of listening to a random RUclips video

Rebuilding the database is the same as defragmenting a PCs hard drive, as you use your device, adding and deleting files, they get put on the hard drive wherever they can fit, you do it enough and your hard drive is kinda like 'Swiss cheese' and new files or games are going to be split up in different 'holes' on the hard drive. Not as efficient as having all your eggs in a basket. So this put all your fragmented files on the drive and shuffles them to better organized and make it easier on the system so it doesn't have to read one thing and skip a bunch of things just to get to the other Swiss cheese hole lol.. I hope that helps
I've got a White PS4 PRO with a SSD installed, still having extremely long copy times, also have the original PRO standard without SSD upgrade and they both copy at pretty much the same speeds.
Yeah this I have multiple PS4 pros in my home some have a sshd some have a regular ssd and they all copy at nearly the exact same speed I've compared them. The ones with the ssd would complete about 5 minutes sooner than the ones with the sshd's.

So this put all your fragmented files on the drive and shuffles them to better organized and make it easier on the system so it doesn't have to read one thing and skip a bunch of things just to get to the other Swiss cheese hole lol.. I've got a White PS4 PRO with a SSD installed, still having extremely long copy times, also have the original PRO standard without SSD upgrade and they both copy at pretty much the same speeds.
Yeah this I have multiple PS4 pros in my home some have a sshd some have a regular ssd and they all copy at nearly the exact same speed I've compared them. The ones with the ssd would complete about 5 minutes sooner than the ones with the sshd's.
Same problem with latest Apex update on my pro with 2tb SSD. 1min download for a 600mb update, going on 20 minutes of "copying" at 50%...
Well thank it removed my game.
