It's not even close. United-Chelsea 2005-2011 have more of an argument than Liverpool-City. I'd hesitate to even call it a rivalry because there is just nothing there. That doesn't take anything away from these teams of course, you can be two quality teams that aren't necessarily the biggest of rivals

I was born in 89, so the emotion of this rivalry was very raw. Butterflies in the build up before each game. Besides the penalty shoot-out in Moscow and the brief, [Liverpool] Torres era, i've never that nervous since. Maybe the games against the Galacticos - especially at Old Trafford. Just watching them in the tunnel made me feel like a soldier going to war. Mourinho evoked this bettee than anyone.
The FA Cup Semi Final Replay in 1999 may have been the greatest game ever seen. As an Arsenal fan I will never get over it. It had *everything* . And we could and should have won the double that year. Lost the league by a point when we battered Leeds at Elland Road and had about 30 chances - Kaba Diawara anyone?! 🤔 And the semi final which we should have won. Anyway United went on to win the treble that year and good luck to them but it should never be forgotten how different it could have been.

I can't stop smiling as a Gooner whenever I see anyone from either club reflect on what is for me the best rivalry I've ever seen. It truly was incredible...genuine animosity and fireworks, with brilliant players on both sides. And the storylines all the way throughout...doubles, trebles, winning the league at the rival's ground, both teams experiencing getting clawed back during the title run in, going unbeaten just to have it ended by their rival. It really had it all. Looking back at it longingly with Man U fans while sharing a laugh is always fun to do. Would love to see us and them battle it out like that for honours, but the way the game is played and the style of players these days means we'll never see anything like this ever again.
