How to build a retro looking bluetooth speaker - part 1/2

  • Hello guys!
    I made a new bluetooth speaker with a retro design using a few components from my first bluetooth speaker.
    But now I invested a lot in new tools and materials, because I want the final product to be much better. It has a lot of improvements over the old design and I want to explain the entire build process in great detail. So I will split the project into 2 videos, because it will be very long and complex.
    A big THANK YOU to all my patrons, especially to: Max Rice and Anthony Ortenzi.

    You do a great job without using lots of tools that most people won't have access to. And I appreciate your reminders about basic safety.

      What do you mean? Not every one has the perfect sized drill bit or a routers. But if you’re right if you meant tools that people don’t have like cncs

    Excellent project and I’m very impressed with you woodworking skills. If it were me I’d have picked up a real antique radio and gutted it as they are very cheap these days. Keep up the great work 😀👍

    I first thought: here we have a project in which just some components are put together, but then I was yet again surprised by very interesting improvements in the details and had a lot of fun, thanks Sorin!

    To separate the frequencies for a woofer and a tweeter using an output from an amplifier, you can create a passive crossover network using inductors and capacitors.
    For the woofer (for low frequencies), you'd want to create a low-pass filter. This can be done by connecting an inductor in series with the woofer speaker and a capacitor in parallel with it. The values of the inductor and capacitor will determine the cutoff frequency, allowing lower frequencies to pass to the woofer.
    For the tweeter (for high frequencies), you'd create a high-pass filter. This involves connecting a capacitor in series with the tweeter and an inductor in parallel with it. Again, the values of the components will determine the cutoff frequency, allowing higher frequencies to pass to the tweeter.
    Designing a crossover network involves selecting specific values of inductors and capacitors based on the desired crossover frequency and the impedance of the speakers. It's recommended to consult a crossover design guide or use crossover calculators to determine the appropriate component values for your specific application.

    Frumos proiect.
    Eu as fi folosit vatelina sau pasla textila, se gaseste la metru sau la bucata de 50x50.
    Anyway a ieșit fain.
    Spor.

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  9 месяцев назад

      Salut. Pasla textila e mai calitativa, dar nu cred ca se poate lipi, trebuie prinsa de placi cu un capsator pentru lemn.

    • @dragosmihaimoraru7433
      @dragosmihaimoraru7433 9 месяцев назад

      @@Sorin_DIY se poate lipi si pasla. Avand in vedere ca ai folosit mdf chiar daca nu e asa gros merge mai greu capsatorul. La pasla eu am folosit pistol de lipit cu batoane. Chiar si vatelina am prinso cu pistolul si a rezistat bine in timp. Cel mai mult am mers cu vatelina, e mai ieftina si la dimensiune are 1m latime si lungime cat dorești.
      Fiecare foloseste cu ce este obișnuit.

    Yeah but at 10% THD the sound quality will be very distorted
    Realistically you can maybe achieve 2-2.5w at 1%
    I suggest upgrading to at least a 10-20w amp
    For the best results my friend

      Hi. even though the speaker drivers are rated at 15Wrms, they are almost pushed to the limit by this amplifier board. there is no need to use a more powerful amplifier with these speaker drivers.
      I have several amplifier boards with TPA3118 and TPA 3116 and bigger speaker drivers for future projects.

  • @L-Coder

    I want to make a smaller compact speaker using a pair of 3 watt full-ramge speakers. But i need help about what amplifier board to use ??? The (single IC) pam8403 stereo amplifier has a very noisy and bad quality amplification 😢. and Bluetooth module too?

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  8 месяцев назад

      Hi. you can try the MH-M38 bluetooth module, it should be better than PAM8403 - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCmuIK1

      @@Sorin_DIY I found one with 12 INR Delivery charge. This link you provided has 4000 INR Delivery charge. I guess its due to country? Or is the cheap delivery one fake product? The amplifier module though is the same price of around 110 INR. Please help me out..
