Very informative video. I had a long argument with someone who believed that mods would no longer be free. Hope more people see this video and lose their confusion.
Also extra note. I did see one weapon in the presentation that actually had unique mechanics and use the auto axe from F3 in F4. If they add a whole new class of weapon in a chainsaw type thing I'd consider paying for that. If it is just another mace and has absorb health on it. No. Just NO.
scalpingsnake I feel like they went about this the wrong way. They have to do this in a way that leaves almost everyone at least ok with the system. The coin purchase system feels like they are trying to hide the fact you are paying for a mod
Sithis 0402 I think they are trying to avoid telling people you are paying for a mod yeah because of what happened back in 2015 but you have to realise that whatever Bethesda say to make you love/hate this it doesn't matter, you can pay if you want to and like the idea and play free to play mods if not I just dont think you should hate for a difference in opinion.
I will say I don't fully understand why they went with the Credits as a way to pay for content. That does say money grabbing to me. The, "Why have people pay 4.99 when they can pay 7.99 for the smallest pack of Credits. They may use the extra credits eventually, but they still give us more money" kind of thing. Could be wrong, we don't know the value of credits or whether or not they are bought individually.
So far you are one of the very few RUclipsrs out there who opened with a discussion instead of going nuclear on skeptics. Be it anger, confusion or even language barriers, many couldn't or did not voice their concerns rationally and understandably so, Bethesda seems to be probing and reaching their way with mods and people are getting sick of it to be honest, the least they could have done was explain the CC better. With that said, I'm all for modders being paid for a well made mods, the bit that got me was Bethesda jumping in on this, they could have just settled with helping community creatives and 3rd party devs get their creations through CC, but they did say they're getting in on the action as well, so it really does bother me that they'll create content for CC, it could translate into many things, would they hold certain armors and quests back from their games or dlcs? am I paying now for a full priced game, a season pass and more quests through CC? would that affect their delivery of said games and DLCs? unfortunately not many people, especially RUclipsrs are asking these questions which makes people question whether they're in Bethesda's pockets or not Get Bethesda's creations out of the CC, let them take on the role of support for Devs and modders and we'll accept this as it is.
That was something at the back of my mind when looking at this. People would think of this in the future as Bethesda holding content back for sale on the Creation Club. Of course, I'm pretty sure that's not the case for Skyrim & Fallout 4 as they were mostly "complete". I've seen the argument that they are rolling this out for those two games so as to see if this will work for future titles, and that makes sense. I suppose the best, more reassuring thing they can do there, is not release the Creation Club until after their future games' DLC is all out. But like you say, it could translate into many things. My hope is that we'll see very few weapons and apparel on the service, at least those not part of large packs.
The Creation Club should be restructured a bit. For example no selling of Armor,Weapons,Items,Spells, By themselves. Instead they should focus on working with Modders to create Far harbor size DLC. Why would anyone buy a set of armor when i can get hundreds of armors for free off nexus same with weapons. They need to direct their work into Expansion packs aka DLC.
Could encourage collaborations. If the talented weapon modders, for example, wanted to be able to do it full time, they could join teams working on decent sized DLC content and have their works included in those. Someone working on weapons, someone for armour etc.
No, it's the prices I have an issue with. ESO's microtransactions are incredibly expensive. 1,800 Crowns for a camel, that's roughly over £10. That's what I don't want to see in the Creation Club.
I just can't trust bethesda at this point. I mean I'd be fine if they were making things that couldn't be done without source code changes and new mechanics that aren't busted. I'd point to skyrim combat overhauls. They exist for free, but are more numbers based and usually don't fix the actual bland combat. It' pretty much always more effective to just slash slash slash and you'll win. If they can redo that as a mod/dlc then I'd gladly pay for it. Duel wielding in F4 I'd pay for it. Heck even just better melee in F4 I'd pay for it. Some might say that's too far, but to me it has to be something beyond the normal capability that I won't just see someone make a free version next week.
People are amazingly stupid (the least they could do is say something useful not just a 'fuck you') -_-. I liked the idea of paid mods back in 2015 but Bethesda did that terribly... I really like the idea of this creation club as I don't mod that much due to the risks and difficulty. So this sounds amazing with me paying money and having its basically risk free, this could be the future of mods buuuut Bethesda did a terrible job yet again but this time a terrible job explaining what it is they are actually doing... I really like the sound of modders working with devs making high quality content... fingers crossed.
The DLC politics that we have now are bad enough and you really think it will get better if we allow companies to put a price tag on mods / user-made DLCs? Mods are from fans for fans and it should stay that way. It is possible to donate to modders if you want to give them money. We dont need greedy companies in between who will do almost no work and get money for it
XellDincht you are saying that basing it on what happened in 2015 not what this is. This looks like Bethesda are going to be doing a decent amount of work which means better quality mods but most of all means we have a CHOICE - free but lower quality mods or pay and get high quality mods.
+scalpingsnake that they let their fans work is bad enough. I doubt that will put a lot of work in it. They will probably check if its work and that's about it
Very informative video. I had a long argument with someone who believed that mods would no longer be free. Hope more people see this video and lose their confusion.
Yeah, it would have cleared a lot up for many had Bethesda shown what's in the F.A.Q during the conference.
RedBeakRaven I wish Bethesda explained this situation better at E3... now everyone hates them
Mods that you pay for = paid mods
No shit.
No no, it’s not paid mods, it’s instead ...mods you pay for
I'm slightly worried bout this, but open to seeing it in action.
I agree with it as long as the content creators get most of the money
Well its been fun bud.
Let me guess, unsubbing because you disagree with his opinion?
Chad Punilsk probably just wants attention.
You caught me friendo

So much for not taking a side...
Sithis 0402 dude do you even have an argument?? he looked at it from different perspectives and then gave his opinion.

wait you mentioned the crown store in ESO? do you not agree with how mmo's stores work?
No, it's the prices I have an issue with. ESO's microtransactions are incredibly expensive. 1,800 Crowns for a camel, that's roughly over £10. That's what I don't want to see in the Creation Club.
RedBeakRaven ah ok.
If i can go to the steam workshop and download some random banana sword mod for free, than it is not paid mods.
True... ;)
Don't understand the dicky comments from some people. Ya would think people would be mature -_-
StraightUpIrish Yeah, but that's people on the internet for you.

What's funny is, Minecraft Community Marketplace was shown off at this E3 and people are complaining about Creation Club!

First video I have ever disliked in years
