Cool little piece. Tricky covering much of an arc on a minimal budget but interesting and quirky characters make it work. Catherine Pham carried it very well with a great and fierce look. Think she has a promising future as an actress. And the Temu shop masks for respirators were hysterical. Have one in my garage and no, it don't filter much so good thing Mordos was breathable!

For example, mine was made as a passion project when one of our fans donated some funds for it. A lot of these films are probably proof-of-concepts for larger projects filmmakers are using to find funding for.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Sci-Fi short. A dense storyline crammed into 15 minutes and every scene added depth to this short film. It's a killer movie, with zero unnecessary filler. Great work of art. Thanks for sharing.

Extremely professional short film, great acting, great star sequences all top notch, as good as it gets, but what happens next? You need to make a sequel !
Loved the android protagonist. The actress really nailed that expressionless, robotic, monotone demeanor in a way you rarely see when real people play automatons. She hit it out of the park with this performance! Can't wait to see more! The whole thing was like one 30 second teaser trailer evenly spread out over 18 minutes, and just as thrilling.
Modern cinema is running out of movie ideas and there are literally so many different movies that can be made out of these short films it's laughably annoying
There not running out of ideas, the big studios have found away to do what's known as Recycled Entertainment, basically they can do a remake on a story and script they already own, bring on a screenwriter or two to help punch it up, and it can be a recognizable script meaning you see it coming out and think oh this is a flat remake or it's kind of like, they save money by paying half for what they already own including music, and cast under contract, they pay out very little, risk tiny, and hopefully rake in millions on a low investment. Only time you see a real original story is when someone like Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas, David Fisher, and the like cut out with a story either their own or actually pay for the story, and of course it just goes BOOM, oh what a creative mind, nah, public is just tired of remakes, like watching a variety of pink colored paint dry. And so it makes it hard for good storytellers, screenwriters and Authors like myself to get a job or sell a story, even though I have hundreds of original stories, Big Studio doesn't want to pay a lot and risk a lot. They like their proven formula of small investments on already owned property, little risk with high rewards. We've been in a Remake War and Recycled Entertainment since about the early 2000's. And when the WGA goes on Strike, that doesn't help things, they had a really long strike back in 2015 then 2017ish and Disney is like Hey, I know, let's do live action remakes of all our Animated stuff, 101 Dalmatians Beauty and the Beast Lion King Lady and the Tramp Jungle Book See already things they own. Then if it's not a remake or a recycling, you get this Mirror Finish is the other One this one hasn't been popping up as often as it once did. But an example of this is remember that comet movie or Astroid movie with Bruce Willis, Armageddon, by Universal, then Paramount came out with the same thing but called it Deep Impact. Titanic Poseidon adventure Marvel DC comics The James Brown Story Ray Another name for that could be Oh Yeah!? Yeah! Lol anyway, yeah I've been trying for years, and I get the same song and dance you need and agent, can't get an agent unless you do something, but you can't do anything unless you got an agent. So, I go the other route, published Books, this is where someone else takes all the risk and if the book is selling and people are loving it then hey, Hollywood says let's make that into a movie. And then they do 1 or 2 things 1 they hire the author to write the screenplay and it goes just like the book and it's just freaking magical, or 2, they hire someone else who has kind of read it or his wife did and he just kind of does his own interpretation that doesn't go like the book in fact people can't even believe it's the same story.... That's another one that can happen. Well, if you made this far, thanks for reading, and I bid you adue and cheers.
But isn't that very similar to "if you read the expanded novel, you'll understand." Shouldn't this set up what the story and world is about? It should if that is what appears to be viewers issue.
@@richardadesmond I mean, this short sets up the basic premise of the world and sends Ava on her tumultuous journey of revenge, which is the impetus of the series that goes much deeper and has many layers and turns. With the time, budget and constraints we had, that was about as ambitious as we could get.

But if you're trying to explain to people what is to unfold, I wonder if you're putting off your best stuff in the saga till later, instead of earlier, and that would get the audience really engaged. Maybe? Put the great stuff in early and escalate from there. I know it's hard, I'm a screenwriter, myself.
@@richardadesmond it's tricky with the budget we're at -- if this were a proper TV episode, we'd show the full ambush Ava and her father experienced by the Duster gangs on the moon -- the Duster gangs have hover bikes and Ava ends up gunning some down, then manning the turret on their mining ship and taking the last one out on his bike. Obviously we can't do all that. Another route would be to go SUPER contained on this, make it a 5 min short and laser in on Ava as a character, likely when she was a little girl and was abandoned on the streets, then breaks into her foster-father-to-be's apartment in search of food and show how that relationship begins.

I liked this. It was cool! Cool outro music too. Catherine Pham was a great lead! Judy Nazemetz was a great admin clerk, too! I do think, thought that the Starrunner character would have worked better as a 40-ish year old man. Not that Ms. Shah's acting was bad. It was great. But for authenticity, I think a man cast in that role would have worked better. Just my armchair directorial $0.02. Thanks.
Interesting note - in the machinima series this is based on, Jade’s character is actually the daughter of corporate royalty - she’s literally a princess - which is something we don’t touch on in this passion project. You might enjoy the original series on our channel.

"Revenge is a dangerous business" . . . this is a pilot piece for a potential series, or feature film. There are some glaring technical holes in the story, but the core concept is definitely there. Catherine Pham captures her character perfectly, I hope y'all can get funded to develop this further as it should be.

More like a sort of comicbook type of story and characters, definitely made for a younger audience, but in that context, a nicely produced project, fun to watch. Story telling without having to rely on extreme CGI to make the point, much to be said for that. The part that was a bit distracting was the "evil" laughter toward the end. Was this someone her stepfather had known, or even a real "person" at all, or some sort of weird virtual demon? Well, at the very least, Ava's character would definitely be an interesting date, and then some.
So (spoilers ahead) Jade is the daughter of a wealthy family, trying to prove something to herself out on the frontier by making her own way -- she gets her brains blown out in front of Ava, which sends Ava into a downward spiral which -- well... the machinima series this is based on truly goes to depths you'd never imagine.
No They Want To “Terra-Form” Mars & Make it Inhabitable For Humans To Extend Our Species into An interplanetary Race…. But There Will Be Areas Mined & Changed With Human infrastructure But Not For Exportation More For Growing Food, Plants & Water Generation etc…. Hope This Helped 😇

More like a sort of comicbook type of story and characters, definitely made for a younger audience, but in that context, a nicely produced project, fun to watch. Story telling without having to rely on extreme CGI to make the point, much to be said for that. The part that was a bit distracting was the "evil" laughter toward the end. Was this someone her stepfather had known, or even a real "person" at all, or some sort of weird virtual demon? Well, at the very least, Ava's character would definitely be an interesting date, and then some.
It was like love island crossed with Beverley Hills 90210 does science fiction.... 😁🤟🤜🇬🇧

So (spoilers ahead) Jade is the daughter of a wealthy family, trying to prove something to herself out on the frontier by making her own way -- she gets her brains blown out in front of Ava, which sends Ava into a downward spiral which -- well... the machinima series this is based on truly goes to depths you'd never imagine.
