More About "Neo's Cleaning Service":
Our story follows Tim Bauer, a status-craving young man who is currently competing for promotion against his peers at Neo’s Cleaning Service - a privately-owned cleaning company that specializes in the social and individual cleanup of deceased or recalled citizens who reside within the Greater System. Tim lives in a society where every citizen is told to believe in The Atrium, an elderly utopia where all seniors would be relocated to upon their retirement. In reality, all seniors are secretly abducted and executed by the SSS (the System’s Secret Service) after their retirement or recall date.
On a daily basis, Neo-Cleaners like Tim are dispatched to former residences of senior citizens after their departure to the Atrium, commencing the disposition of their belongings and preparing the home to welcome a younger class of citizens. One day, Tim goes to the house of a recalled senior to perform routine clean-up. However, Tim runs into Paul, an expired senior who is still alive and well. Duty tells Tim to report to Paul to the SSS, but the more Tim learns about Paul and the story of his belongings which are about to be scrapped away, the harder it is for Tim to retain his belief in the System. Little does Tim know that the encounter with Paul is no mistake, as Paul has an unfolding tragedy of his own for Tim to witness; one that would forever change Tim as a person.

Hey guys! This is Floyd, director & writer of Neo's Cleaning Service. Just wanted to say thank you on behalf of my cast & crew for the warm reception that our film has been getting here on Dust. My goal as a filmmaker is to always create stories that we can all reflect upon and by looking at most of our viewers here, it seems like Neo's has been doing just that 🙏 So thank you all again and let's hope that this won't be the last of it! :-)
Nice work, Floyd. Watching on my phone from Buford, GA USA
To tell you the truth...
This was one of the more well-done and thought-provoking short videos that I have seen in quite some time.
I sure would be quite a ecstatic to see more of the kinds of work, writing and production that your company can do.

Why did you make the decision to you use ADR? I like this concept of this film, but the audio really detracts from the immersion.
As a parent, this movie hit hard.
Thanks to you and the cast and crew!
Sort of reminds me of Logan's Run, similar concept, but there, the expiration age was 30. Also, couldn't help but notice the UV-5R radio in the opening scene (I happen to have one of these). In any case, good story telling, without having to rely on lots of elaborate sets and CGI.
Man, this isn't a story. This is reality. We work hard thinking money, status, retirement is waiting for us. We neglect the people that love us, and run out of time for our parents as we are always too busy to visit. We think "When I make it I will have time for that." Or we just simply imagine that later will be easier for us. Then death reclaims our loved ones in the end. "Later" never comes and we missed the here and now. Love this short. Thank you.
Completely true:(
Can you say, "Cat in a Cradle?"

What you say sums it up perfectly. Thank you.
That ending was heartbreaking, and evoked a genuine emotion. Of realizing, I mean REALLY understanding and accepting the fact that our parents/loved ones are going to pass one day. I'm at that age where my parents are getting older, so this was so relevant. 9/10

At sixty one, the worse things I feel are being is feeling irrelevant. Un needed. FORGOTTEN.
After giving my life to my five children. I know everyone claims such, but I really did.
My mother died 3 months at the age of 89.
"Everything that has a beginning, has an end"
Yes, but what about us, the parents who are 60+? We spent our lives chasing dreams or trying to stay ahead of debts. Now, our children have grown up to live lives separate from ours, continuing the cycle of chasing debts, work life, and childrearing. They, like us, will realize too late that they've missed the opportunity for quality one-on-one time with us, as we are nearing our end. The cycle continues :(
A more crude but more realistic version of Logan's Run. Especially when you consider what happened a couple months ago in Canada when an army veteran requested some of her benefits to make getting around her house easier and the government worker suggested euthanization so she doesn't burden the system. Excellent job.
And those same people claim it's all "democratic"🤡
Did you miss "Wild in the Streets"?
If you gonna compare look back some.
This is quite a bit of difference from either but does drive home the point.
And they'll still tout their "free government healthcare".
That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
VAC has no affiliation with MAID. That worker was just a terrible person. And there are terrible people everywhere. Just look at the US and all the terrible suggestions some people have made that involve nukes, bleach, or exec**tions of elected or appointed officials. At least our VAC is investigating and dealing with that one awful person.
This made me cry😭. The part at the beginning where the poor guy got executed really got to me.
Let's get you some tea.
The bullet hitting the picture was extremely good symbolism.
When the daughter raised the gun to 'recall' her dad, I thought, "Why use a gun? It is messy, there is collateral damage, and noisy. Just subdue and inject him with poison." That thought took maybe a second. Then there was the poignant smashing of the family photo. Fitting. It was a beautiful reboot of the Twilight Zone episode, 'The Obsolete Man'. Kudos to Floyd & his crew for a well-done short. I look forward to your next film.
“Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the work, dignity, the rights of man, that state is obsolete.” Rod Serling from The Obsolete Man
@@uradragon Rod Serling saw some of that totalitarianism he writes about personally. He was Jewish, and he served in World War II. The Nazis were in control at the time. Very dangerous time for a Jew to be in Europe!
What Hollywood is missing: a great story line. Very well done!
Hollywood would ruin it!
Have you ever watched an old TV series called Logan's Run? Look it up if you haven't...
I hate to upset you, but this topic is not new to Hollywood. Look yourself.
Hollywood still has some movies with great story lines and good acting. It just isn't the fantasy/sci-fi/action movies.
Yes, this short definitely has tremendous potential. The script was excellent. I really enjoyed the plot, great cinematography and the director of photography was just awesome:)
Excellently produced short film. But more than that it hit hard. My parents are aging and I don't see my dad having more than another 10 years left. It feels like the period of life where they have the least amount going on in their lives is the same period that we, as their kids, have the most going on in ours. Reach out to them. Visit them. Do some things for them to make life easier. It means the absolute world to them to see that their kids still care.
I encourage all who love their parents and see their decline spend quality time with them. With the alarming rising number of people with dementia if you don't you may regret not spending time with them. Time passes in the blink of an eye. I ask myself constantly "how did I get so old so FAST??" I'm 77 but the years are catching up to me. What I would give to spend one day with my parents.
My children grew up and away from me. For a while I had wonderful grandchildren but they grew up and away from me. I'm enjoying the great-grandchildren but, if I live that long, one day they will grow up and away from me. Enjoy it while it lasts.
It's a terrifying reality of over population, especially when you see each persons life in detail and thinking about the powers that be initiating such a program.
As someone that recently lost a parent to cancer, (thankfully I was holding her hand as she went), this one hits different. Amazing story and very well done technically.
father just passed from Parkinson's ... I feels it too
I'm sorry for both of you. I left my beloved father to Covid in May 2020, 11 days before his 90th birthday. He'd never been sick in his entire life but thanks to the virus being "novel" (no human resistance to the strain), he'd still be alive. Everyone in our family has lived into their late 90's, early 100's. Still hurts every day.
F-129 is just Metal Gear Cyborg Ninja lmfao
This was good. Reminds me of the episode of the twilight zone “The Obsolete Man” written by Rod Serling
Fantastic job done by all. This piece is great standalone or expanded. The acting had me hooked. Characters were recognizable and relatable. What a great short!
Keith Richards says that a song has to get from A to B in two and a half minutes. This tightly edited story made the journey in slightly more time without a single superfluous word or second of screen time. Keith also says that the notes you don't play are more important than the ones you do. Congratulations Floyd you are a master storyteller.
And in the world of "Neo's Cleaning Service", Keith would've been done going from A to B many years ago...
Old people, matricial printer sound, wall paper, 70's chill music, wellcome to the Future
Well, this technically is already the case when it comes to senior neglect. BTW, wasn't this the plot of Logan's Run, only that life was capped at thirty or something?
There are similarities to Logan's Run, yes.

I was going to comment "has no one seen Logan's Run?". This is similar in plot, but much more powerful I think.
Perfect mix of technology to story. The gadgets are there but more as background props . Reminds me of the twilight zone episode the obsolete man 👍👍
That hit home big time !!!! I'm speechless this was amazing & so sad as we see what may lie ahead for us as we meet our fates. Awesome work on the writing & the acting . I never did trust the govt. ,ours or anyones.
I think it's more about how we can get so caught up in the rat race that we often forget or neglect things like family and friends.
As per usual this was amazing , and so true. Man I love Dust.
… wakes up, staring groggily at the ceiling, barely remembering the emotional semi that ran me over …
OMG, this has a full-length movie (or even series) written all over it!!
I would like to see this developed a lot further. Very interesting plot line and the acting was quite good. Make this a major motion picture, please.
It's a shame hollywood can't seem to pick up interesting plots like this, isn't it.

Thank you for reminding us what really matters, and to live for the *present*
This is not only a message for children, but especially for parents. Raise your children in love, money is not important, take care of them. God knows I tried, sometimes things don't go the way we would like, you don't want to experience bad things the hard way.
This movie is fantastic, it has a strong message and emotions. Its only negative is that it is short. 10/10
A perfect example of future life with Ai.
Well, we don't know how A I work yet. We still need to invent it. Perhaps in 10 years time. The so called data algorithm we have now can't even perform simple math or logic.
@@solucaoatende 'you'll own nothing and you'll be happy' very timely film.
Brutal dystopian stuff here. Nice work
Excellent job!! This would make a good full length film. Thanks to the filmmakers, Actor's &:whole Team behind making this short. Very enjoyable short 👌🏼
i got lots of Equilibrium vibes from this but like, I dunno in a different way or something. good little dystopian short film. Good job!
I loved "Equilibrium" for the main reason I had my eyes and mind opened. I discovered what a fabulous actor Christian Bale is. Until that point, I never thought much of him. After that movie, I realized he is one of the great actors today. I watch everything he is in.
The elderly guy is the spitting image of Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin! Wow.
Vibes of Logan's Run, and yet--it's own thing.
your right xD
You made it again guys. I just hope the creators of this one can get funds enough to make it longer.
I'd love to see this as a full length film with a lot of backstory and narrative exposition!
Wonder if the filmmaker would use another writer to make it happen :)
The "Cat's Cradle" song will now make me cry harder/more, or less/not at all? Yes.
This is one of the better DUST shorts and in my experience those are usually 1 in 10 or 20. Well done. Perfect SF short film. It was the daughter scene that made this film perfect !
Great writing, acting and cinematography. A++
This short film is absolutely brilliant because it shows the crucial dilemma of our society: We work and work to be able to buy the things we think we have to have because society tells us to. In doing so, we forget the people we love and who love us. At some point, these people are no longer there and we ourselves are old and don't even know what we actually lived for.... The only problem is: as soon as someone tells us that this materialistic greed for money and "status" is wrong and that we should focus our lives and our society more on people again, we chase them away as a "left-wing dreamer", "socialist" or "commi"...
There's a difference between seeking a more peaceful life for oneself, and stealing what makes others happy. That's what the left really does.
Very well executed! It would be nice if this served as a pilot for us to explore this society. I think many would be intrigued.
agree!
TREMENDOUS !
Great acting
Great story
Great......got something in my eyes...
Having lost both my parents, it's sometimes hard to tell the next generation that we should value the previous generation enough to spend our most valuable commodity on them (time).
Mesmerizingly beautiful. Love it, thanks to all.
Thanks for having CC enabled
I don't think I've seen a higher quality short film. Maybe I will, but this sure takes the spot. Everything from writing to cinematography was A grade. Just...👏👏

Brilliant light works, consistent throughout the whole Movie.
This is a gritty, dark film. Never loose sight of what's important, and always hope.
Great short! And this is actually where we’re heading as a society. If we let them… So, please, wake up, everybody!
When you realize you are a cog in a machine and the truth is not what you think.
There is a hope. At least some people can see what is going on in this world.
We're called Maga, Shillary thinks we need to be re- educated.
Sci Fi? This? Well, I wish it was.
Well, at least I wish the "fi" part was fiction.
😢
Believe it or not it's sci-fi
It is an updated version of Logan's run movie and tv series for the 1970's.
A masterpiece!
Thank you!
All I can say is, What a Great Story.... The ending was so touching..
agree!
Well played, touching, good dystopia concept. Worth to explore as a full movie ❤
2070, the writers optimistic. Probably more like 2030.
Challenges may be limitless, but so are the talents 👌 to conquer them 👏Bravo!❤️
Every now and them a good movie comes about,, and this is one of the good ones
Very well crafted and executed story. High marks all around.
I'm critical about movies/the shorts... This one is one of the best themed I've seen in a couple of years. Hope it gets made to full feature.
Amazing and touching story, this is a future we must avoid at all costs!
Those accents peaking through always break the forth wall in the best way.
Another outstanding effort.

Great story. Too bad about the audio issues. But still, I'm blown away by its potential. Congreatulations!
Reminds me a bit of Logan's Run. When you get old enough they put you down.
Good job, felt the emotion of the young man at the end.

Very impressive film. Please, consider expanding this story. Perhaps a series.
yes its great

Definitely dark, but realistic. The word "recall" reminds me of when a model of car has a design flaw and it's "recalled" to be fixed, or a product that's defective. We all need a "purpose" to live on, and if we don't have it, it runs deep in the psyche.
I recognize a Gray Fox helmet when I see one :D
IMO, this is like a twist on the movie Logan's Run. It's pretty chilling though...ageism to the nth degree.

Once again, an excellent short, solidly acted, and displaying imagination in story-telling far above the derivative crap being churned out by the “Marvel Universe,” and its ilk`
And with a touch of humor.
Why can’t we get writers like this into Hollywood?
Had a good laugh when the hand hit the floor next to his face followed by the broken picture frame. Oh boy!
👍👍 Floyd, best of the very best to cast & crew!
Although this concept has been done many times, this is still a very well done version of it. But the special effects really took the center stage, simple yet tasteful and don't look like a video game. This is just an other example that something is seriously wrong with hollywood.
Such an amazing work
