Currently doing the same thing, minus the college part and with about 3 people. Its more like a passion project. Glad to see the start for people doing what we do. Good luck and looks like a great start!

Actually, the project is on hold. I'm thinking of bringing it as a story to the channel. But what happened was that the programmer who was with me left to work on another project for a few months. And I didn't know how to program anything in Unreal, I only knew the basics of object-oriented programming. With the project on hiatus, I started studying C++ from scratch, and that's what I was doing until a few weeks ago. Now he's back, and we're working on a smaller scoped roguelike to raise funds and try to formalize as a company before creating the Souls-like game. We feel the need to start with a smaller project and formalize as a company first because our country doesn't have a tax treaty with the United States, so we would easily lose at least 30% of our revenue if we launched the game informally.
Thanx for sharing. The movement in the Unity version seems to look more smooth than Unreal engine. Maybe im wrong. If you want to see how NOT to make a souls like - try Bleak Faith Forsaken. Clipping, super bad hitboxes and some weird effects that remind me of the first 3dfx voodoo era.

Pretty cool what you were able to accomplish in just 35 days!
3:00 you could have just locked the arm bone in place in the statemachine and then get rid of the shield mesh
But that would result in a completely immobile arm, looking 'petrified.'
So, in order to avoid that appearance, I decided to remove the entire arm
Beginner game developer but i have a passion for dark soul like games any tips when starting? Also how did you implement music into your game ?
we used FMOD to manage the songs
