Thank you for the video! We bought an Air Still based partly on your advice. Using it for the first time right now. My question is, which I can’t find any answers anywhere for, is from the 700-800ml of 55% distillate you get from the 1st run, how much volume will be made from the second run? Let’s say we put 800ml at 55% back in a second time, how much will we get in volume at 80-85%? When will we know when to end the 2nd run? Thanks again!!
I found this info on the Lysol website think it should answer any questions you have if Lysol will kill the Corona virus www.lysol.com/healthy-home/understanding-coronavirus/
I have one of those, I bought it about 23 years ago, it is for distilling water, it came with no large book, so I didn’t know you could do anything else with it, I still use it today
Hi, first off thankyou very much for your information and knowledge, especially in this time of chaos and fear. I am interested in buying the air stiller so that can make hand sanitizer and cleaning products for my family since this is no sanitation products available. Would you be kind enough to let me know what are the products that would be needed to make sanitation cleaners, thankyou once again.
@@TimberTea Hello, thanks for getting back, would you please send me the recipe on what I need to use to make the ethanol alcohol for the Air Still. Thank you
So what does the ethanol percentage come out to in that recipe that you showed in the video after it’s all mixed? I’ve got everclear 92%, aloe and essential oil. Didn’t want to figure out the math. :) Thank you for these recipes!!
The air still produces 55-60% during the first distillation. How do you get it to over 75% (or higher) as recommended by the WHO? You mentioned a second distillation briefly but didn’t show the process. Any chance you could fill us in?
If you distill 5 Gallons of sugar wash you'll need to do several 1st runs as the Air Still holds just over 1Gallon, everything you collect from the 1st runs collect and pour back into the still and do a second distillation. This will produce roughly 80% abv.
@@TimberTea Thanks for all the helpful information. It is a desert out here when trying to get the necessary products to protect your family in these uncertain times. Thanks again.
Love the 3 methods. Do you have any suggestions for making into a more gel like consistency using xanthum gum or agar agar. Also, what is the recipe for the sugar wash in the still please?
I have been trying to find a home made sanitizer recipe to refill my "foaming" hand sanitizer bottle. Would this recipe work for my foaming bottle? Or, do you know of a recipe that would be appropriate? Any suggestions would be appreciated ;-)
We had a hard time finding Aloe vera gel too.. We ended up raiding my parents house!! My mom had like 10 half empty jars lol.. You can use glycerine as a substitute, you can find it in your local home brew shop, pharmacy or online. Here's a few links from Amazon where you can still buy it online: Aloe Vera Gel - amzn.to/2xViyfq Glycerine - amzn.to/2UqlcBD Hopefully that helps !!
If I want to run it through my still a second time to increase the alcohol % do I run the first lot all the way through until it stops dripping or just collect the first 700ml ? Also if I am only supposed to collect the first 700ml, do I only put this back into the still to do a second run or do I have to top it back up to the fill line with more wash? Thank you
@@TimberTea ok, thank you. I don't often use sanitiser, however, I wash my hands with diswashing liquid most of the time. I dilute it so it can foam in a foaming hand washing bottle.
So how much sugar and water plus the yeast. Should I ferment for 2 weeks? I did not see the recipe for that. I just ordered the distiller. Stores still don't have anything.
Ahhh Awesome !! I'd suggest doing a 5 Gallon sugar wash, and use Turbo yeast instead of bakers yeast you'll get a 20% abv with turbo yeast and it will ferment much faster. Check the the description for where you can buy turbo yeast online. Recipe for 5 Gallon Sugar Wash With Turbo Yeast ! - 7 KG Sugar - 1 Pack Turbo Yeast - 5 Gallons warm water 25 Celsius Let me know if you have any other questions !!
I have 70% alcohol and an aloe leaf that I can scrape some of the gel from, but how much should I add to a cup of the 70% alcohol? I don't have the glycerin so should I just use 1 tsp of the aloe in place of the glycerin? I have peroxide.
You need to be careful not to dilute the 70% alcohol.. The lower the % of alcohol the less effective it is at killing the corona virus... You can use straight 70 % alcohol as a hand sanitizer. Glycerin and aloe just add moisturizing properties to the hand sanitizer. The problem with aloe is that it can dilute the hand sanitizer down to much.. Instead just use a moisturizer after sanitizing with 70 % alcohol instead... Hope that helps !!
Con Artist If it’s 70% isopropyl alcohol you’re not supposed to dilute it. But if it’s 70% ethanol alcohol then you can dilute it because for isopropyl alcohol the lowest percentage that can still kill Viruses a 70% and for ethanol the lowest percentage is 60%.
I'd suggest you buy either glycerin or Aloe on Amazon check the description for links to all these products. Alternatively you can usually get glycerin at your local home brew shop if they are still open ! Anyone else having trouble finding ingredients ? Let us know where you bought your ingredients?
Some supermarkets or garden stores sell them as a plant. Or buy the plant online. People scrape the inside of the aloe vera plant with a knife or spoon to get the gel.
“Impress” everyone especially if they are “cute.” (Your Host) Put “Grain Alcohol” or “Jameson” separate unmarked spray bottle can touch off with “Gin” or “V-o-dka.” “Spritz & Blitz.” “Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler !!!”

Keep in mind the more sugar you add = more alcohol the yeast will make in the wash. At a point you need to use a different yeast as you use more sugar because the alcohol will start killing the yeast. If you want to maximize yield I'd suggest using Turbo Yeast - amzn.to/3bhUC4n it can handle up to 20%abv in the wash. Let me know if you have any other questions!!
