love that you go straight to the point
You don't know how much your videos have helped me this last year since I started watching your channel!! Thank you so much and have a great day! 😊
Happy to help!
Ashleigh King told me to follow you. And now I know why should I. You are amazing. For the first time, I came to know how to simplify while painting a hand.
A little trick I do is take a picture of my painting and the subject if it's not a photo. Then create a GIF that flips between the two. If you align them properly it'll show perspective errors like a red apple on snow. ❤
I paint with acrylics, not oils, but I always appreciate your concepts and methods. The phrase you use about "pushing and pulling" especially has helped me overcome blank canvas anxiety, and tight painting due to perfectionism. Thanks for your videos 🙂
Great video, I always leave the hands and/or feet last. If they are part of the focal point (like holding a torch, sword, spoon, glasses, etc. near the face) I put more details. If they are away from the focal point I don't put that much details I suggest form and leave it. Detailed hands away from the focal point will draw there eyes there. So I only do it if the hands are the focal point. ( blacksmith smithing a weapon or something. Even though the hands are away from the face, I still want people to focus on it as well because it's a point of action of his skill)
I just started oil painting a few weeks ago and thanks to you I have made great advancements really fast
Appreciate all the sharing on values...and color you have filmed in 2023.
Happiness for 2024. Ann, Florida fan
I love the way you explain things. You make it very easy to understand.
Thank you.
Thank you. I've been following your channel for a while and now I've recently began oil painting. I look forward to further instructions.
Fantastic video. Loved your spot on explanations and am inspired to do some hand studies in my oil sketchbook.
Thanks. I always look forward to your videos.
I’ve been painting with water mixable oils for many years on and off, just recently found the channel and after a day worth of diving into many of the videos I’ve had several ah ha moments. It’s sparked me the need to pick up the brushes again. Great stuff.
straight to the point. good explanation. keep up the good work!
Thanks I've learned another one today.
Always a good job 👍🏼

I was like why is he not posting!!! Here u go the video i needed the most 👌
Love the video. Thanks
Excellent!
Nice and informative video, I really dig you approach. I'm not sure I can ditch precision altogether, but open to the idea. Anyone else torn between the meticulous and paddle-powered painting styles?
great tips, thank you!
Thank you. 👋🌝👍
great video! thanks a lot! hello from Russia!
how do you thin paint without using paint thinner or oms? love your work and the way you help struggling artists
Hey, thanks for posting amazing videos as always. I'm a beginner painter and learn so much from you. I have a question about canvas/brush size, I paint on A4 size sheets of oil painting paper, would you recommend this size for beginners? I can't help but feel the details become way too small when attempting a portrait for instance. Perhaps I don't have small enough brushes. I would really appreciate your opinion on the matter. Thanks!

Thx dre hazes jr
Legit!!
Good instruction! A topic I would like to SEE is student vs Artist grade paint. There is a plethora of video's DISCUSSING this. But video is visual. A simple rule of filmmaking is SHOW don't tell. Two paintings, (not just blobs side by side) simple but with a few features to show light shadow zones, bright areas to show pigment power between the two etc. Let the viewer SEE the differences, mention how much paints was required. But empirical trumps feelings/opinions/discussion every time.
Thanks for your time and expertise.
Didn't like my suggestion huh?
I wonder what if we don't have any reference? for example in 3:33 - we can't use this method then.
Thank you.
Now, I'll go tear my hair out and when it grows back, I'll try to finish my painting.
Hypothetically speaking, if paint companies sell paints made with inks I want to try pigmants. How do I mix up the medium? Can I just use linseed oil and Sansador? What should I use as a binder.
Say Chris..
...had a question...
....did you spend some time in Southern California....say....around 1999 to 2000??
I just go with Mickey Mouse hands 🤣🙈
