As have said elsewhere, I think commentators underplay how often the blood oxygen sensing on Watch is used and by just how many people. Remember, we just came out of a three year pandemic that directly involved lung function. I think a lot of people were very grateful to have an on device measurement utility for plotting trends and lung function. I think a lot of people still are.
It really isn't used by most regular people. If it was it would be on the Apple Watch FE. I have asthma and I don't even use it. It's of very little use to me because I actually have proper lung function tests on a semi regular basis, as most people with asthma do

7:40 any responsible parent will have a pulse oximeter at home, or several. Those things are so inexpensive now that they're basically stocking stuffers.
To answer you question re: O2 sensors… me.. asthma +covid. The numbers match the medical devices within an acceptable range of error that I used in my respiratory therapy.

Jobs did not do anything, really, that blackberry hadn't already done, essentially, but somehow managed to convince people it was not only better but mandatory. Likewise with iMac, iPod etc

It'll change nothing. Regular people don't care about AR/VR and not even Apple will make them care, especially with something that looks as goofy as this does. Maybe they'd have a chance with glasses but not with these ski goggle things

Remember that Apple doesn't innovate at all (intrinsically), and hasn't for more than two decades. (Nor does any other big tech company)... Apple acquires I think roughly one tech company a week (dont remember the exact numbers here, but this is secondary to the point)
I would argue that innovation is dead and marginal improvement is the name of the game. The preponderance of evidence for the last decade is on my side - Apple doesn't make cool things - Apple locks people into services on the cool things they make (Apple Pay, App store, Music, TV+, etc.) and even then, the things and services themselves are simply not that groundbreaking.
Tell me, honestly, in your heart of hearts, is this not the best explanation of why you have felt a disenfranchisement with the whole endeavor of being a tech RUclipsr over the last few years?
So that argument is that... and, to be honest, we have to consider the history of Apple finding a way to market tech pivots that nobody else could... (They didn't make the best PC, mp3 player, smarphone, etc they just convinced everyone they'd done it, and done it well enough that one merely need not concern oneself with the competition) but we have to ask ourselves about the very nature of the product itself when it comes to AR/VR... the idea is not to accept that we've created a product that provides the best iteration on a device that does something in the real world, but that the fact that we're selling our walled garden as the best iteration of the real world itself.
In that sense, my biggest fear is not that you're wrong, but that you're right, and that the future is an interactive AR world, served by Apple, where the way we view the world must be necessarily filtered by their profit motive, after all, if they don't succeed in this project, they are surely doomed to the horrendous realm of becoming a company whose P/E ratio is 15, 10, or God forbid, 4 or 5 like the airlines...

These are false equivalencies and not even the same tech/purpose.
What makes you think the examples you've given are even equivalent? Totally different systems and goals. You have one comment on the channel. Try lurking more so you make less of an ass of yourself. 😊

To anyone saying that these are "false equivalencies", please elaborate. Each of those were VR and/or AR headsets, some of which allow you to operate in a virtual multi desktop environment... so, besides the very specific Apple-isms, and that its more recent, it does seem that the comparisons are warranted, at least a bit.
Meta has not failed, they have been making decent progress. I have seen more quest 3 adoption and actual use at this point. They will always be held back by their desire to make a mass market product though.
Apple is going all out with first gen, it is not a sensible product (from a price perspective) so they are not targeting mass adoption right now anyways. They just want to mature the tech and get the apps and experience ready for when the tech becomes cheap enough to make mass adoption a reality. Apple is in a position to take the risk, no one will spend 3.5k on a meta headset but Apple has more trust.
For cameras/processors/lenses/display to be cheap enough for mass adaption it will take like 4-10 years. At some point in that period the price of new products and the utility they provide will make sense and that is when mass adoption will become a reality.
The Vision Pro will be a commercial failure because it has no killer app. It is a $3,500 content consumption device that is uncomfortable to wear for prolonged periods and has unacceptably low battery life. How do you type or enter data? With a keyboard. Whether that’s an onscreen keyboard or a Bluetooth keyboard, it is still inferior to using an iPad, and really inferior to using a Mac. Touch is great for content consumption, but not as accurate as a cursor for content creation. Why would a customer buy a Vision Pro instead of an iPad or a Mac? They wouldn’t. What can Vision Pro do better? It can allow me to turn to my left or right, or turn around completely, and place windows and applications all around me. Will most customers find this worth $3,500? No. This isn’t Minority Report. And by the time you add prescription lenses and an extra battery pack, you’ll have spent $5,000…and now VP is REALLY not worth the money.
