I love trick plays so much. I know they are rare, but honestly as a fan they are one of the biggest reasons I watch football. This sport is just as much mental as it its physical, and I love it when the mental aspect of it takes center stage every once in a while.
@ Olivia Zuver I will never forget that game. 1976. I was 14 and in 9th grade. That was Bo's 1st win in Columbus! People were coming out of their homes on my street beating pots and pans, horns were honking on Telegraph Rd (US-24). Unforgettable! Your dad showed some speed on that play! I remember it vividly. That play demoralized the Buckeyes!
When McMurtry threw that pass to Calloway on a reverse, Monte Clark - who was the radio announcer at the time, and a good one - saw what was unfolding way before anyone. He just deadpanned "This is going to be a touchdown" almost as soon as McMurtry got the ball from Boles. I was at the game with the walkman on, and had no idea what he was talking about. Neither did the Indiana defense. Then it happened.
I love how EVERYONE at the stadium including the players think its a turnover because they didn't score, and the Michigan coach is yelling FIRST DOWN, GET OUT THEIR while waving his offensive players back onto the field. guy knew what he was doing. 3:08
Gillette did a pooch kick off that was received in stride by a Meechigan player. It was a designed about 20 yd kick. Don't remember who we did that against.
It seemed like in 2001, Michigan ran a ton of trick plays. But I remember reading in The Wolverine that Carr was quoted as saying only the play at Iowa was an official trick play. What happened in that one? Also, we ran a fake punt early in the Orange Bowl against Alabama.
@dunnyb41 The closest thing to a "trick play" that RichRod ran during his head coaching tenure at Michigan was having quarterback Tate Forcier punt against Notre Dame in 2009.
Yeah dude I like the idea, but what do you think? Gardner at the slot or Robinson at the slot in those situations? Personally I think it would be better if we ran like PA Screen Pass to Robinson, either he throws it or takes off.
Right now the trick plays make me cringe just because RichRod had forgone some basic football fundamentals at Michigan. Of course the team has a great foundation now. Good video.
@krnbballboi616 "too bad rich rod doesnt bring any creativity to the current offense." This is a joke right? You do realise that he CREATED the ENTIRE offensive scheme right? You do realise that nobody before Rich Rod ran a zone-read-option spread right? Talk about creativity... He litterally CREATED the ENTIRE scheme himself. You don't have to like him as a person. You don't have to like him as a coach. At least give him credit for what he has done.
There is not a human being alive today that has witnessed Michigan beat OSU more times than they've lost. Doesn't matter if you were born in the 1910s, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, or 2000s. Your Michigan team has a losing record against OSU. THAT IS SAD!
I was at that MSU game when Gillette faked the punt and scored. A thing of beauty.

At 00.18, when they announce Jerry Zuver, that man is my father!! Proud daughter of a Michigan football player. :)

Thats totally bad ass!
That was a huge two points at the time. Huge!!
@@jamesbowen8960 I was a junior at Michigan in 1976 and listened to Bob Ufer on the radio (the game was in Columbus)

Even the ref wasn't expecting that fake punt! LOL
6:36 I love that the punter sells the hike-over-the-head just to throw the defense off even further.
WolverineHistorian...Can't thank you enough for all the time and effort you do putting these videos up! They are awesome! Thanks and go blue!
Great stuff. Fun to watch.
The one against Florida...wow! What a strange, gutsy, interesting play.
5:30 DOUBLE REVERSE
That play with Bellamy at 9:20 was amazing. I've never seen anything like that.
That was the most mobility I've ever seen from John Navarre.
i loved this video! thank you for posting
I miss these dayssssssss
Awesome, I love this channel.

No wonder Illinois hates UM lmao

I guess the double reverse is effective because the single reverse is such a staple of the Michigan offense
MIKE GILLETE IS THAT BEST PUNTER EVER
at 9:42 i just love that sound of football an the band playing in the backround dont know why just love it
@nhra456 Looks like two santa's. That 1992 Purdue game was played on Halloween day so I guess some folks decided to dress up?
excellent video!!
Love the excitement. The commentator has a voice crack lol

Wow!! Deserves way more than 61 like. Nice job!!!
The fake field goal against Ohio State in 1991- some people forget about that in general, because of the famous pose.
Damn that punter was fast
@tbmike23 We didn't really run any trick plays with Rich Rod here. Which is a damn shame cause some of them could have worked this year
Bob Ufer = Legend
He was awesome.
What the, the second play looked EXACTLY like Antwaan Randle El's pass from that Superbowl o.o

@kazbo1 I don't remember that. When in the game did that happen?
Lloyd did a few trick plays.
The punter scores a touchdown on you...I can think of only one worse shame and that's if you gave up an onside kick that was returned for a touchdown.
Who was the annoucer during the MSU highlight?!
@Illusion666 Wow, they're pretty much identical. Crazy
8:15 i would die if we saw that play next year. i was hoping to see it with the denard jet formation this year... someone get borges a VCR.
It didn't work, but do you remember the screen pass from Henne to Jake Long? That was nuts.
@slimj091 that would be so sick especially since they have shoelace and Gardner. It would be perfect.
Brady faking an injury is epic
Why cant we do the trick plays and go rough now???
what the heck was Drew Henson thinking?
at 2:01 that isn't Joey Galloway is it
whats with all the string and tp hahaha
10:04 Buffalo Stampede

Chris Calloway.
I didn't like that flea flicker! War eagle! Nice reel though. Five star.
00:50 the first time a trick punt worked
@TheTimCantu a pity...I would have never let that happen
And they said he was Conservative Carr. Motherfuckers, Carr was one of the highlights of my childhood.
7 people are Ohio State fans... i feel bad for them...
all i got to say is that their o line was too mean!! back then!!
10:54 "Cavemen is all new on tuesday" Look at the bottom line
Poor Illinois...
@shsbluejayforever06 Wayne Larrivee
I think in every play there is a roll of toilet paper thrown...

This video is a representation of the "stupification" of sports commentary.
watch the ref at 1:20 haha
too bad rich rod doesnt bring any creativity to the current offense.
hahahaha 9:20 rape
obviously fake
