Nice way of putting it all. I started mostly playing a year ago and slowly built up DLC starting with aquatic and then working up to more of the ones I wanted during sales. And here I am now with all DLC and doesn't feel like a chore to have bought when instead of getting a coffee or 2 I get some cute animals in game. But DLC 100% not needed unless favourite animals locked behind
Personal preference for specific animals as you've discussed. If you live in New Zealand, you'd likely buy the oceania pack, if you live in Europe, you'd likely be keen on the European DLC. I have every DLC. It's glorious.
I have gotten every single DLC this game has released. I do it for the animals. There’s a ton of animals that could be in this game and I can tell you that each of them has had an animal that I could use. Yes, some are much better than others but at least you’d have more animals to use in a game that literally has the word “ZOO” in its name
I have been playing since the game came out, and I have bought the dlcs because there is always an animal that I like in them, like the example of the Jaguar, but it is true that they are not 100% necessary to play, it is a very complete game. Great video
Really good video. Like the flamingo habitat. I strugle in the past with stress and designe. I think you are right, but personally i think the base game had a little bit strange focus. Africa was fine, still important animals like pinguin, meerkats and dromedas was missing. But india could have been easy a DLC. Good that it was in the basegame 8maybe because of the campain), but the colourful peaces are really different from the rest of the basegame. Also strange to have two elephants (out of two), three bears but other animals was missing.
i had the base game up until recently when there was a sale on the DLCs i snagged a few of them and now im actually sitting down and TRYING to build pretty exhibits that also fit the needs of the animals, its difficult and rage inducing. I love it. LOL
A fun thing about flamingo exhibits! Most of the time, their shack isn’t all that big, maybe half the size shown in the video and usually floored with grasses. I just wish they had gulls or spoonbills to put with flamingos as they get along really well with those birds
The only pack I didn’t buy are the European and Asian pack But indeed every pack has 1 species that really stands out for me it was the polar bear that I bought the pack or the anteater for the South American pack
Personally, I'm just waiting for all the DLCs to come out. Once they're all finished but the game will still keep going, I'll buy the deluxe edition and all the DLCs. Plus, maybe download some mods too.
the funny thing is is that i bought most of the dlc the day i bought the game because i know frontier almost never dissapoints with dlc for thier games
Я новичок, и купил сразу все длс и пожалел, и вернул деньги и снова купил игру но только с одним длс, в котором есть утконосы. Огромное тебе спасибо, что помогла определится!
On sale the complete collection on steam was/is $94 (I bought the game with the most recents sale but didn’t initially buy all the packs). Which is a lot for a single game but I honestly think it’s worthwhile if this type of game is your thing. I just got the game and have played for like 60 hours, and I’m just at the tip of the iceberg.
Or you know. Buy a steam key for the ultimate edition for 8 bucks. But that aside this is a really good video. People always feel like they need the dlc’s to play the game the way it’s intended, but there’s a reason it’s just dlc is because there’s a base game that is meant to be playable as is.
But if you really think about it, no DLC means no cultural or continental representation, and you can't build a proper Lion King zoo without animals like the blue wildebeest, black rhino, and meerkat, among others and DLCs like the aquatic pack really bring life towards the game.
Well howdy there. I've seen a few of your videos and I like the way you make them; the editing is fantastic. Hopefully one day I'll be justy as good. I just wanna say that I completely agree. PZ DLC, while amazing, is totally not needed for 99.9% of the gameplay (although the underwater plant feeder and the walkthrough exhibits [WEs] are practically useless without DLC😢) Well anyways, I haven't really played it without the DLC, but I'd say thay the Base Game alone is probably a 7/10, while DLC elevate it to a 9/10, only for the content that it adds and how they vary the roster. But, yeah, $160 seems very steep for a new player ($45 dollars seemed steep for me when I bought it almost 3 years ago😅)
I just downloaded the arctic, Australia, conservation, Eurasia, and barnyard packs because I wanted the polar bear, red kangaroo, amur leopard, wolverine, and alpaca
I luckily got like...13? Of the DLC (as of the recent one) either on sale through steam or through a third party site that's trustworthy (to my knowledge) for around $5-$6 each. The rest I bought full price on steam, so. But I do it for the animals and the "completion" mindset...even though I don't play terribly much? Idk, I ONLY have this mindset for this game specifically lol. I tried modsing before, but it gets tedious sometimes and you do always have recheck after updates to the game or mods, snd if something breaks...hooboy, hope you didnt bulk add multiple mods, now you gotta weed smth out.
The one i really want is the Twilight pack because i want to make a bat cave! I'm holding out tho cos i'm still fairly new to the game so there are a lot of animals i haven't played with yet
So far ive bought the ones that have alot of animals or have unique ones, i have the aquatic, south America, Australia, artic, southeast asia, twighlight, endangered, and the maned wolf one, i dont see the point in most of the small ones like the latest one which is oceania that has a reskin of a penguin and another bat
She's saying that you basically don't need the DLCs (I actually agree), and yet the comment section is filled with nothing but people telling us that they bought all the DLCs. The irony... I don't like zoos anymore. I've seen way too many animals in zoos that clearly showed signs of not being very happy, especially the lack of space for the animals was often shocking. Yeah, that "playground" for a few rhinos might seem big to you, but it's a joke to what they're used to in real life. Some species can handle smaller spaces and still feel good, but other animals get totally depressed. No, I don't want to be reminded of all all those zoos while playing this game, that's why I would never buy it. Don't get me wrong, zoos something are needed to educate people, or to protect species from extinction, and that's great, but some of those animals really don't belong there.... period! And one last comment; I don't by the bull.shit that zoos help people to be aware of what nature has to offer to us, and that it helps us to get more support to protect that same nature. I'm not seeing that, it only gets worse, every year many species go extinct, and do the zoo visitors care? Nope, the huge majority just move on with their life.
the thing is, these dlc practices are layed out to trigger the FOBO of people. this is something very real and something these companies do very consciously. of course you dont need all the dlc and you can have fun with the base game. but a lot of people will have FOBO and with time they will just not have fun with the game anymore because of that. id rather have no dlc and have the stuff in the game from the beginning or big expansion packs like back in the days rather than 20 dlc's which would cost me around 200 dollars full price...
I hadn't planned on ever getting the dlc when I was gifted the game, but I saw that the grasslands pack had maned wolves and it was all over (for my bank account) now I have most of them and plan to get the rest come next sale
Right now my favorite I will right now I’m trying to make it I was. I’m trying to work with some things, but I’m extremely limited on animals because I don’t have all the pack so it’s kind of annoying.😊
And for my fellow pirates out there, Koalageddon is a on brand, yet non moral way to get your favorite DLCS. Only work in Sandbox and Challenge, though.
Nice way of putting it all.

It certainly can be a challenge! I usually turn welfare off ahaha
the south america dlc is my favorit dlc... for the exact same reason - giant anteater! (My Favorit animals of all time)
You have great taste my friend!

"Do you really need DLC to enjoy the game?"
Modders: "allow us to introduce ourselves "
Really helpfull, i will Start with the Basic game soon and than eventually add dlcs later if i like it
fun thing is that my friend got me most of the DLCS cause they have a lot of money on hand. i got the artic and south america pack by my own.
as a jwe2 player i didnt even know how planet zoo could need freebuild lol

it just depends on what you wanna do in the game!

Nah, i needed the dlc. The base game doesn't have any penguins, that's my favorite animal.
european and south american rosters in the base game are pretty crap but mods make it better
I just bought the game and I could easily see myself buying all the dlc.

i love the twilight pack! I'm a sucker for those medieval looking building pieces
If you still dont have it, there's a massive sale on steam rn
Yeah this video is actually amazing
Thanks so much!
I have question:
are capybaras dlc or base game?
wetlands dlc
I really love this game and I watched a lot of your videos u wanted to play too but I’m broke XD
Now we got barnyard pack its so cool 🎉😎
I only buy the DLCs that I really like
That's the way to do it!

I don't believe they're at all necessary to have a good time but man I couldn't just keep playing without maned wolves, knowing they were out there
Yes! We all have an animal which makes a dlc irresistible!
Not me who got all of the dlc’s and watching this vid ;-;

Can you show how to Get Moss from steam workshop?
75 animals?? 52 habitat and 33 exhibit animals. thats 85 if im not wrong..
I never considered mods! Thank you for saving me a few (much needed) bucks ❤😂
