I played through this game when I was in my early teens and I can honestly say that I have never found any game (with the possible exception of Ultima Online) so engrossing, enthralling and exciting. It was like playing an amazing book if you get what I mean. The music went a long way to achieving that as well as the fantastic depth of the characters (Anonmen and Yoshimo for example), the interplay between them and finally.. the great humour. What I would give for a true sequel!
Beautifully done, my friend... No matter how many games I have played over the years, nothing has lured me back to keep playing like this one's managed to do. I can't help but come back for more! The brilliant musical score is one of the reasons for this.
very good job my friend, baldur is tehe best game in the world, many many remembers... The music of the end of the throne of baal when you can read the stories of the group's character is one of the best i've ever heard
What can I say? The beautiful music, intelligent tactical game play, great story, and wonderful writting make this the video game saga of the ages. I can see why the Baldurs Gate series is so well loved.
Very well done. Brings back nice memories. I was playing this game long time ago...Best RPG ever! Incredible music! Variability of adventures depending on party members, ...Baldurs saga simply rocks!!
All those Bethesda lovers that come down on Obsidian (Started by former Black Isle crew) This is one of the many games they made What ahev Bethesda ever made that can even BEGIN to compare?
Hey, Bethesda did create a few innovative games. Just look at Morrowind. Sure, it's story and characters ain't got shit against Baldur's Gate, the gameplay and combat look awfully archaic and the animations are lacking. But it does have some great aspects. Just look at the magic and spells. Levitation, teleportation, some overpowered spells that insta-kill entire cities and much much more. As much as I love mages in Baldur's Gate, I preffer Morrowind in that aspect. Not to mention that Morrowind is probably the most open game there is. There is absolutely nothing to stop you from doing what you want. Invisible walls? Unpickable locks? Nope, not here. You can go to any place (even freaking final boss' lair) right at the start of the game (you will probably die, but whatever). "Essential", immortal NPC that prevent you from being an idiot who destroys his game? Nah, whatever, just kill them if you want. Aaand, despite rather mediocre story overall, TES Lore is incredibly expansive and in-game books could suck some book-worms for long hours. There's also Terminator, the first FPS game as we know them now. There's Arena, which, despite being rather average, started the open world RPG concept. Sure, Bethesda and their games suck balls now, but pretty much same applies to Bioware (not to Obsidian though, of all their games, only New Vegas is bad)
This game is almost TEN years old, and it still blows every single game out of the water. The most timeless classic of all time. We will never see something like it again...
i am very proud to have grown up on this game. I played games like BG1,BG2, Fallout, Fallout 2, Icewind dale when i was around 6-7 years old. Now im 17 and have my own PC and have them all installed to nostalgia all over the place. I still think ill never have better experiences in gaming than ive had with these masterpieces.
Aah! The memories! Although it's several years since I played Baldurs Gate (1, 2 and ToB), I still remember it like it was yesterday! Simply the best roleplaying game I have ever played together with Fallout 1 and 2.
one of the most epic gaming experiences of all time. few games can claim to really immerse you and make you feel something. this game does that so well.
This game is the best. Nothing beats playing it for the first time, the story and the world is so exciting. The game is a lot of good memories for me, I used to play it with my old friends and we had a lot of fun. When I bought Baldur's Gate 2 I didn't expect the game to be so epic.
what an amazing game. I've played through at least 10 times, with tons of different mods. One of the most immersive and most fun play experiences out of any game.
Ty! My favorite theme is the "aerie"-theme. She is so cute :) Best RPG and one of the best games ever. Nothing can beat it (in my opinion). greetings from austria
@szafker 1:11 "Marching Mountains" 1:47 "Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn - Romance 1 (music)" 2:35 "Baldurs Gate II Shadow Battle" 2:55 "Baldur's Gate 2 Mountain Battle music" Just search each of these to find the songs you are looking for. Sorry if I'm a few weeks too late. lol
No matter what I play, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, Baldurs Gate remains my all time favorite and it's a game I really love to come back to and play over and over again.
This game was almost perfect in every category, one of those categories was the music, years later i still find myself humming the battle score. Voice acting surpasses all other games.
Finished Baldur's Gate-along with tales of the sword coast- a week a ago for a second time after 7 years or so.Started immediately Baldur's Gate 2 ,then Throne of Bhaal and the 2 Icewind dales will follow.Thank you Black Isle and Bioware for this TIMELESS saga...
I love how in the character portraits in BG2 and other old D&D titles are so full of detail like high quality paintings. It stirs the imagination when playing on those venerable retro graphics. Much more effective than today's game graphics
This game in my opinion is the best game I have ever played they put so much detail into the story. And the side quests had a lot of detail too. it would take me like all week just to complete a side quest. But no doubt this is the best game that I have plaed and will ever play in my life.
I believe I replay this game close to 40 times and never got tired. But now I really need a break from this game for awhile. XD (One of the best game I ever played in my life)
@hurisija well PS:T is another classic by Black Isle, one of the unique in the game is, it allows gaming on both action heavy or story heavy...if we invest our skill points on charisma, we can convince most lesser boss to let us be, and if our intelligent is high enough, answer for puzzle will automatically generated for us, thus avoiding more conflict in steel;-)
Say goodbye to your life, RocketBird. This game utterly consumed me my first time through (well, probably the first three times, actually :D). And thanks to Nightlover69 for the nostalgic musical romp down memory lane. SO many great memories...
hi guignollette. couldnt help but notice ur post. Neverwinter nights 2 is a game i am playing currently (completed it before but decided to try it as an evil drow this time) the game is interesting. you end up serving neverwinter anyway but the means of doing so is up to you. there is banter, good character development, romances. everything you could expect from a DnD RPG. the music is not as good as the black isle games, but the graphics are really amazing, and help to draw the player in.
This is the best game I´ve ever played.I have beautiful memories on this "game".No,this is not a game, this is a masterpiece!ETERNAL GLORY TO THE BALDURS GATE!:)
@szafker oh srry didn't see "in game" part. For marching mountains it is in yaga sura's lair and the map area called marching mountains. For The Romance music you have to develop a romance in game which can be pretty hard. For the shadow battle and mountain battle, I'm not sure, Always get the battle music mixed up. They are definately in BG2 and not TOB if that helps narrow it down.
If you zoom Dragon Age out to the strategy view it looks just like BG. I don't know how they did it, but the art style is so similar its eerie. It's not D&D anymore but the fantasy lore, music, and NPC party banter is all still there.
Ah, Baldur's Gate II. The one game I can honestly say is the best game I have ever played, and I've played a lot of 'em. Finished ToB with Viconia's romance today, and got the epilogue. You know the one. Emotional stuff, that!
@Plissken07 The game takes your last saved game from the second one and all your equipment. Its actually pretty long, I mean not as long as the second one but I loved it because I have played all of them and it finally finished the story. I would say that it took me about 3 months of playing almost every night for an hour. Of course you might move faster than me.Such an epic game though.
The best game I have ever played. Amazing storyline, unforgotten adventures. What can I say... You have to try it on your own. :) Apart of that, I'm a big fan of Forgotten Realms and I did read all three BG books. Was SO worth it.
:p I play with Jaheira, Minsc, Aerie, Yoshi, then either Edwin or Viconia usually. The Aerie vs Viconia, and Minsc vs Edwin fights are amusing. I wanted to replay it again, but I've misplaced my ToB disk, so I've gone and ordered the DVD collection so I can have it all on one disk, which should arrive next week.
i am still fond of my friendship and romance with my followers...they prove to be so faithful following me around and making conversation.... really can't find those friends in real world...
@rocksoul89 I don't know what happened to RPGs in general, but last I heard, Atari had a stranglehold on the D&D liscense, and is both refusing to let anyone do anything with it, or do anything with it themselves.
@rocksoul89 there was the counter opinion, now im going to agree with u. games developers back then were entering new worlds with the open world exploration thing, on screen, so many of the ideas that came out were fresh and inventive, and held the real spirit of the world they tried to create. Nowadays its harder to come up with ideas, and all were doing is essentially remaking the same games for money. But better games DO exist.
Best rpg to date! nothing can top it, everything about it is great music, story, voice acting, gameplay and some even say they like these graphics better than other games which i agree with.
This game is simply the best ever. I need to play it again. By the gods, how can it be so good? So epic! I thought Bioware were starting to find it again with Mass Effect but compared to BG2 it had only some moments of brilliance...where as BG2 was constant brilliance! Why, oh why can't someone craft a similar masterpiece...I would so like to experience BG2 again for the first time :)
Take a good look. This is one, if not thee, greatest games of all time. I agree also that NWN was a let down. I was expecting Baldur's Gate in 3D, but it couldn't deliver. All that comforts me in these times of stagnant storytelling is that I have the complete set of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. I'll be playing them all again soon. I never beat Throne of Bhaal because I didn't want the game to end. That's how good this series is.
the mother of all real rpgs ,the game of the centuries i wish me back in the good old days where baldurs gate is released, the old days.........this were a nice time i miss them (sry for bad english)
I like baldur's gate 2, It really was a fun game. For some reason I barely remember what happened in the game, besides when you get to the underground with the mind flayers. Lol at the demon lord who appears "HAHAHA MOST AMUSING, THE BHAALSPAWN HAS TRICKED YOU, THESE ARE NOT THE REAL DRAGON EGGS EITHER!". For some reason I always found that to be an epic moment. The underwater city was pretty cool too.
@Ericzeppe I've played thru all of NWN, with the exception of the last expansion pack. It was decent, and I quite enjoyed the first one. MoTB was a bit short though.
Just a hint: You don't actually have to download the soundtrack. Just extract it from the game itself using the program acm2wav or listen to the acm music files directly with winamp and the acm-plugin.
guys,at 1:27 when you see the SoA world map, what are the 2 lower places in the forest (the one to the west on the coast and the one next to the mountains bottom east where the shield is) I dont remember seeing these in my games
Baldurs Gate is not only a game. It is a masterpiece. Brilliant music. Thanks for audio

Yeah, the good old days. Not worrying about anything just fully dive in the story and magical world.
Beautifully done, my friend...
No matter how many games I have played over the years, nothing has lured me back to keep playing like this one's managed to do. I can't help but come back for more! The brilliant musical score is one of the reasons for this.
Oh, dude, AWESOME. Thank you! I've been wanting to listen to these by themselves for YEARS.
Ugh, I just love the music for Aerie. Thanks alot for posting this, brings back nice memories:).
very good job my friend, baldur is tehe best game in the world, many many remembers...
The music of the end of the throne of baal when you can read the stories of the group's character is one of the best i've ever heard

Aka the proper music for the most epic ending, EVER !
Damn, I still shed a tear when I hear it :,-)
Very well done. Brings back nice memories. I was playing this game long time ago...Best RPG ever! Incredible music! Variability of adventures depending on party members, ...Baldurs saga simply rocks!!
Hands down, greatest game.
No game comes even close in comparison.
Thanks for shareing the music.
I played this game, again, again and again... and i´m still playing! Great epic story!!!

Vernon Roche
I stand at least partially corrected,
They DID some good games in the past.
This game is almost TEN years old, and it still blows every single game out of the water. The most timeless classic of all time. We will never see something like it again...

One of the best game soundtracks ever! Every Melody perfectly fits the situation and sucks you deep into the game! Awesome!!
this brings back so many great memories, love it.
i have pleasant memories of Baldur's Gate saga... fantastic gameplay, epic story, wonderful music...
one of the most epic gaming experiences of all time. few games can claim to really immerse you and make you feel something. this game does that so well.

I never grow tired off this vid!
Though I´ve only played NWN2 and tried out NWN1!
I´ve watched a friend play the other games!
gives me chills ;) love it and love baldurs gate sad they don't make them like this anymore...
what an amazing game. I've played through at least 10 times, with tons of different mods. One of the most immersive and most fun play experiences out of any game.
Ty!
My favorite theme is the "aerie"-theme. She is so cute :)

Great compilation. Thanks for your work. :)

This was my childhood game I loved this game when i was little and has always been my favorite game ever
This game was almost perfect in every category, one of those categories was the music, years later i still find myself humming the battle score.
Voice acting surpasses all other games.
Agreed, simply stunning.

thx for uploading..... SO EPIC!!
I love how in the character portraits in BG2 and other old D&D titles are so full of detail like high quality paintings. It stirs the imagination when playing on those venerable retro graphics. Much more effective than today's game graphics
The portraits are from the AD&D trading card set. Three different sets were made one for each year from 1991 to 1993.
thanks. love this game, and its music.
This epic music travel me in Forgotten Realms.Dungeons and Dragons forever! Baldur's game the best game ever!
This game in my opinion is the best game I have ever played they put so much detail into the story. And the side quests had a lot of detail too. it would take me like all week just to complete a side quest. But no doubt this is the best game that I have plaed and will ever play in my life.

greates rpg of its kind without question! :)

So much atmosphere in these games. They're the greatest fantasy games ever made.
This is the best game I´ve ever played.I have beautiful memories on this "game".No,this is not a game, this is a masterpiece!ETERNAL GLORY TO THE BALDURS GATE!:)
TIME FOR SOME CARNAGE!
Really good Job ^^

Started to play this game 2 weeks ago , i was big fan of RPGS since 1998. sad that i never heard about Baldurs Gate before.
1:47 Wow. I had totally forgotten what a beautiful theme Aerie had!
this game(bg1 and 2) and Final Fantasy VII are the only games i ever come back to play once a year.
Game of my childhood.. It`s so much memoirs :)
This game is just epic. I even use some of its lines in day to day conversations.
Great compiliation!
@Ashadow700 Yeah, that's Advanced Dungeons & Dragon's 2nd edition rules. They changed that in the third edition.
Ah, Baldur's Gate II. The one game I can honestly say is the best game I have ever played, and I've played a lot of 'em.
Finished ToB with Viconia's romance today, and got the epilogue. You know the one.
Emotional stuff, that!
A Skyrim modder made a mod that is about romancing Viconia. That does not end tragically. Payback is a b@#*&.
The music in this game is beyond epic!
@Plissken07 The game takes your last saved game from the second one and all your equipment. I would say that it took me about 3 months of playing almost every night for an hour. Of course you might move faster than me.Such an epic game though.
This, and Dark Age of Camelot while in it's prime, and I could stay in that moment forever, happy.
Baldurs gate series best rpgs ever , nothing has the thrill of feeling like your inside the game!
@Grigeral BG 1 and 2 developed by Bioware and published by Black Isle actually ^^
It's so sympathetic. I must install this game again! xD
This game reached a summit that no other rpg games have ever reached
I love this game so much. I was so sad when my BG1. BG2 and both expacs got nicked.
I've been looking everywhere for a copy of it.
I whistle these themes from time to time.
The best game I have ever played.
Amazing storyline, unforgotten adventures.
What can I say... You have to try it on your own. :)
Apart of that, I'm a big fan of Forgotten Realms and I did read all three BG books.
Was SO worth it.
:p
I play with Jaheira, Minsc, Aerie, Yoshi, then either Edwin or Viconia usually. The Aerie vs Viconia, and Minsc vs Edwin fights are amusing.
I wanted to replay it again, but I've misplaced my ToB disk, so I've gone and ordered the DVD collection so I can have it all on one disk, which should arrive next week.
Lol I like how during the Thron of Bhaal music there was that scene of party members killing each other haha.
my first, and my best PC game : ] lovin it
i am still fond of my friendship and romance with my followers...they prove to be so faithful following me around and making conversation.... really can't find those friends in real world...

@WhatevaChick2000 The first pic is of Laska, an Elven Bhaalspawn PC from a fanfic site that no longer exists. No idea who the other one is.
"You have been waylaid by enemies and must defend yourself"
It's called BG 2 music: the downfall of Saradush. It plays when you're in saradush, and you can find it on youtube
Got it :). Thanks a lot!
I maintain that the music piece starting at 0:36 is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard... It reminds me of some of the music from Conan.
I still play this game, best rpg ever made.
Best rpg to date! nothing can top it, everything about it is great music, story, voice acting, gameplay and some even say they like these graphics better than other games which i agree with.

I never beat Throne of Bhaal because I didn't want the game to end. That's how good this series is.
Love this vid still!
the mother of all real rpgs ,the game of the centuries i wish me back in the good old days where baldurs gate is released, the old days.........this were a nice time i miss them (sry for bad english)
Baldur's Gate II is one of the best games I've ever played.
Saradush's despair, If you type in BG 2 Saradush music, you can find a longer version.
Same. I like the music as much as I like her. she's my favorite NPC
Could anyone tell me what is the name of the track at 5:37?
guys,at 1:27 when you see the SoA world map, what are the 2 lower places in the forest (the one to the west on the coast and the one next to the mountains bottom east where the shield is) I dont remember seeing these in my games
