  • How fast will it go? My goal is to reach speeds of 60 mph. Thanks Mike for letting me fix this beast up for you. I may end up buying one for myself. Just a little side note I ended up buying a brand new Rustler VXL just now!

I just bought one a few weeks ago and the weather hasn’t been good around here yet to test it much. I did a little and she rips on 2s so I can believe 3s is a handful. Good testing.

You must live near me cause we've had nothing but crappy weather too for the few weeks. Congrats on your new purchase. I can't wait till mine shows up. I'll check out your channel later today.

Excellent video man! Love seeing it run stock!
On a underpowered shorty 2s my Bandit (well technically it is my sons) hit 33 mph and at 3s on a budget LIPO it hit 52 mph. It probably would have been closer to 56 mph on a faster 3s. Great job getting it up to 56 mph on a less than fresh LIPO! Nice wheelies too.🤙
I would take the rear wing off as well as adding some weight up front. I think that in combination with flipping that front wing all should reduce the tendency to wheelie. Maybe start with about 70 grams of weight up front (about 3 AA batteries or some lead tire weights) but as your speed increases you will need more (or some kind of a front spoiler).
Can't wait to see what you do with yours! No doubt with a 76t spur and a 31t or a 35t pinion will really start getting you up to 70 mph and beyond. Awesome you are getting your buddy some new rear tires!😄Those stock tires get eaten up!
    Thanks for the shout outs!

I'm pretty excited to get the new one in by the end of the week.
I would like to get one more run in on Mike's. I have to try some weight up front. I should easily hit 60 mph with a fresh 3s pack.
      Thanks for the tips.

I have the same Rustler you tested. Thanks for the suggestion of putting weight on the front to stop the wheelies. I'll give it a try. Speed is one thing but not being able to reach full speed because of to much power from a 3C battery really sucks. I'm surprised Traxxas hasn't come out with some kind of accessory to keep the truck from doing a wheelie at 60 MPH. Maybe there could be a firmware update to the transmitter or receiver to allow a less aggressive and gradual punch of power when using 3C batteries over a certain speed. (My Idea Patent 4/29/23). For me it's more fun to drive this truck at 45 to 50 mph with a NMHI battery and not loose control or burning out the tires.) Thanks for the great video. If you figure out how to keep this beast of a truck from doing wheelies so much and obtaining 60 mph please share it with us.

This Rustler belongs to a friend of mine that has me fix it for him and he wanted to see it on camera. I ended up buying a brand new one the next day. Sometime this weekend I'm going to start a video series on it. I have some ideas on how to keep the front down. Brian over at Brian's RC Stuff was using 4 AA batteries taped up on the front rpm bumper which worked great but I want to keep the weight more hidden. Stay tuned for the future videos on this beast. Thanks

31 pinion with a 76 spur on 3s should get you just over 60mph
