    Awesome channel and video! My mother gave me several old quartz watches from my father that haven't run in over 16 years, and I've recently delved into doing some minor DIY repairs. This is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you for the detailed, concise steps! I have a Seiko kinetic that needs the rotor repaired, and this is perfect for it.

    would the custom rotor work on an SW200-1?

  • @Rodsrib1
    @Rodsrib1 3 года назад +2

    In Seiko watches, does the rotor wind the watch by turning clockwise, or counterclockwise (looking at the back of the watch). Or will the rotor wind the watch by turning in either direction ?

    • @DIYWatchClub
      @DIYWatchClub  3 года назад +3

      The seiko rotor winds in both direction with the help of its "magic lever". It's pretty cool, go check it out

      It's quite difficult to get a precise measurement but I tried my best to measure it with a caliper. The result comes in at around 0.25mm. Hope that helps!

    Hi! I have an Invicta with 2650 chainese movment, the rotor sound really cheap, and I dont wear the watch often. So I thought on remove the rotor and make it manually hand movment. What you think? Its will work?

    • @DIYWatchClub
      @DIYWatchClub  3 года назад

      I don't have hands on experience with 2650 movement. But theoretically, yes you can do this, and it will work

  • @djdelarosa25

  • @bertonedes
    @bertonedes 2 года назад +1

    Amazing. all those movements are replaceble, this is so is nice! What defines a water resistance in the construction of a watch? Why is one 50m, another one 200m? Is glass impornant, dichtung-s,...crown?

    • @DIYWatchClub
      @DIYWatchClub  2 года назад +1

      It's the entire construction, from crystal thickness, to crown structure etc. One point of failure means total failure, so everything has to be up to par to the particular WR rating. You can read more on WR rating here: diywatch.club/en/blog/true-meaning-of-water-resistance-rating-on-watch

    2:54 aligning the "dot hole" of the rotor with the "dot hole" of the rewinding wheel (green one) would help for the efficiency of the auto-rewind
    - same direction for "right handed" watches
    - opposite direction for "left handed" watches (as on the video ? also its a right handed watch ?? well ...)

    • @gregs7519
      @gregs7519 Год назад

      How so? I don't see how lining the holes up would make any difference. Can you please explain?

    • @SQueme
      @SQueme Год назад +1

      @@gregs7519 depending on the "most commonly" used hand positions, the rotor movement will correspond to the magic lever maximal amplitude ... think about the elbow movement for a left handed watch vs right handed watch
      at least this is what seiko gives 🤣

    • @djdelarosa25
      @djdelarosa25 Год назад +1

      @@gregs7519Read the manual. It's a thing.
