The reason people are saying it doesn’t work with Xfinity is because the Wii uses a really old wifi standard that newer Xfinity routers don’t allow. Xfinity will not let you change this setting so for many people it is actually impossible to connect their Wii to their router.
OMG i finally got this to work by manually setting up a connection. I had to go into my router settings and change it to 2.4gz and make sure to use the right WPA2 security type when putting in the wifi password on the wii
Can someone please help me? My wii cannot detect any wifi networks, not even my neighbors, and i tried changing some settings that will apparently fix it. But it didn’t. I even tried the manual setup and i kept getting Error Code: 51030. It said it couldn’t find the access point, and it said confirm the SSID and try again, but i checked the SSID and it wasn’t incorrect! I typed in my whole entire Wifi information! Then i tried using a phone hotspot, and SAME THING! Why can’t i connect my Wii to WIFI?! Well, i might take it apart soon, and see if there’s something wrong with the wifi chip/module. If you guys have the same issue and know how to fix it can you help me? If you do thank you. ❤
Its not exactly true that isnt only about the wifi bands The wii's wifi security protocols arent compatible with some modern routers even on 2.4ghz connections, the xfinity gateway being one of them. Your phone's hotspot isn't as strict with this TLDR the Wii's wifi security is obsolete and a wifi hotspot bypasses that

What you do is log into the Xfinity app ( idk if desktop works ) and at the bottom categories in between Security & Services click the Wifi icon. Press View WiFi equipment, go into “ Advanced settings “ and press the WiFi bands tab. Press the edit button for 2.4 GHz Wifi and switch the mode to b,g,n. That should do it : p
Thanks for posting this. The challenge we're having is that our current AT&T Fiber GB Router (Model# BGW320-500) does not show option to check 80211.B status. Our Wii does detect our WiFi network, but keeps giving the "51330" error code after trying to connect. Any advice?
your router is emitting a 5GHz Wifi network and the Wii can only receive a 2.4 GHz network. You can change your router settings, so it emits a 5GHz network for your phone and a 2.4 GHz network for the Wii, you should be able to look up how to do this, if you look up your ''provider's name'' and ''how to change router'' settings, the setting you want is probably called a ''mixed'' setting somewhere, and mixed meaning: emitting both 2.4 and 5 GHz at the same time.
but what I do: Only for samsung users, you can have a hotspot with Wifi instead of 4G or 5G if you want: Go to ''mobile hotspot and tethering'', click on ''mobile hotspot'', click on your network name, then click on ''advanced'', scroll down and at the bottom it should say ''wifi sharing'', turn this on. And if you haven't of course change bandwidth to 2.4 GHz after youve clicked on ''mobile hotspot''. Now you can share your router's wifi through your phone, instead of using mobile data.

@@RoblesJuniorevery router has both it's not what actually prevents your Wii from connecting it's the obsolete security protocols on it Some routers are much more strict and simply won't let devices like that connect for security reasons

You can also use your computers wifi hotspot if you don't have lots of mobile data. Just make sure you set the band to 2.4
