  • Welcome to Part 2 of my ZMR250 FPV racing drone series! In this video I'll be hooking up the FPV camera and video transmitter to the miniquad. The FPV camera that I'm using in this video is the Sony 600 TVL from security camera 2000. It is actually a great camera but you'll see in part 3 that I switched it out for a slightly different housing. If you have questions about how to wire your fpv camera and transmitter, leave a comment and someone will help you out. Also, I'm using the SkyZone 200mw video transmitter VTX in this build, however, it is not worth skimping on this component. The video feed is really bad and I actuall went through 3 of these. If you're looking to build a fpv miniquad racing drone on a budget, then this would be the way to go. I upgraded to an Immersion 600mw in part 3.
    Thanks for watching!

Just a lesson I learned from similar vtx placement. Get an extension and mount it further into the frame. Otherwise upon your first tumbling crash the antenna with break off your ant mount on the vtx. I learned this the hard way. Good luck!

Yup, I made this exact modification. Drilled a hole in the frame for the VTX and bought a right angle connector to connect it.

When you soldered your banana clips to your pcb, did you solder to 5v or 12v? I know depending on camera but I have no clue where to solder them.

+Josh Wilcox Hey Josh, unfortunately there isn't a clear answer I can give you. It depends on the camera. Look up the voltage range for your camera and that should answer your question. Some cameras can handle a wide range of voltage. Thus you can solider it where you chose. Others require an exact voltage and must be solider to the correct voltage

Josh I can help you if I saw a photo of your PDB. First, just check what voltage your camera is. Some are 5V, some are 12V some can do both.
If you PDB is not labeled and is simple like mine (all current is the same, no step downs or anything)then you could connect it anywhere on the PDB as long as red +goes to red and black- to black. Let me know if this helps...

I burnt out my camera the other day. Connected it improperly and smoked a chip on the back. Now im waiting for 2 different cams from banggood. I do have a question about a rX connection on my 210. it was flying great until i had to unplug cus the antennas got chopped up. Is it possible to replace the antennas with 18-20g wire? rx is parkfly fs-ia6.

thanks for this video! i got the eachine falcon 250 which is a zmr250 build, and one thing i learned is that its better to buy clover antennas that are straight rather than the right angle ones, because the right angle ones tend to twist and can cause play and it ended up burning out my VTX. i like your idea of mounting the vtx to the top of the frame, i got a new vtx and new set of aomway 5.8ghz antennas coming, im gonna put the vtx on and then put one of the aomway antennas on the vtx and bend it up so its not touching the ground, and the other aomway on my rc832 receiver on my goggles - and im hoping it will work out good :D

Awesome to hear man! Yeah, totally agree with the antenna and after breaking a few I've made that change with the VTX and now it doesn't break when I crash.

if you run the drone without a antenna it will also burn out the board.

Hi! What if I just wanted to swap a basic camera with a more high end one? Would it also need soldering or is there a plug and play solution?

Hi, can you help me with my quadcopter.
I'm making it on QAV 250 frame. I am using 2300kv brushless motors, 12A ESC and 5inch triple blade propellers.
I'm using Arducopter 2.5 as flight controller and 3 cell LiPo 11.5V battery.
For transmitter I'm using Flysky 2.4 Ghz 6 Channel transmitter.
The problem is that I am getting enough thrust to lift the quadcopter but the problem is that it is not getting balanced in the air and it trips. While programming APM Planner says, "Compass not healthy."
can you please help me with this problem.
    Regards Anuj

That's a tough one for me, anyone else?

Anuj I'm sure by now you've fixed it, but in case you haven't, how bigs the battery? Like, physical size and weight? Also, the lower amp escs may not be powerful enough, or the fact the battery may be on low power
