Absolute legend! Although for my hp laptop there was only one graphics card and the drivers were apparently not loading. So I enabled and then hit followed the steps to update drivers and it instantly fixed and my hot keys now work. Thank you for getting me on the right track!
I had a brightness issue in my Lenovo 2022 Thinkbook 14 . My brightness button wouldn’t work and using the settings brightness scale would not change it at all. I tried to update my graphics but messed it up. I did a system restore to try to fix me messing up my graphics and to fix the brightness issue. From seeing comments I was scared it would take a whole day to restore. Fortunately It restored for about 30 minutes . I plugged in my charger while it was restoring and it didn’t disturpt it. My screen turned black after I plugged in my charger , turns out it just went to sleep mode.
Now my brightness works and no documents were affected.
Advice: Adjust sleep mode to 2 hours atleast so it doesn’t go to sleep while restoring and you don’t have to keep coming back to move your mouse. This can disturb the restoring mode
For me it did nothing at first, but enabling and disabling it 3-4 times eventually worked for some reason. So try that if it doesn't work at first. Thank you for the video!

what if im having the same problem on desktop?
Usually, you would not be able to control the backlight via a slider as it would need to communicate with the monitor directly (connected via usb with software). Brightness would be adjusted via the monitor settings (on the monitor) with additional settings via a gpu driver software

Disabling the integrated graphics on my desktop has actually fixed the issue as now it doesn't override my custom contrast/brightness settings I had defined within the NVIDIA control panel. cheers

I had the secondary adapter enabled, but it had a generic driver. Right-clicking it & auto-updating the driver did the thing. Thank you so much for sharing! ♥

I think this may work with this exact setup but with over 11 hours I can still not find an answer on how to make my screen stop automatically dimming. There is no brightness setting there is no adaptive display and every video I've watched to install either one of these does not work.

If you have intergrated graphics, then you do the same steps but you click on properties and the drovers and choose update drivers.

I encountered the same problem just now and got into Device Manager on my own, where I found out both of my Radeon 780M and RTX 4070 were disabled, but apart from the brightness slider missing, the laptop was running perfectly fine. So I turned both of them on and literally nothing changed. I then disabled and enabled back on the Radeon GPU, the screen flickered and the brightness slider appeared and enabled changing the brightness

That is the issue here but when I re-enable the crappy onboard graphics card, the graphics are muddy and I don't want to use them at all. But it hurts my eyes when I disable the intel onboard graphics.

Just because the driver has not been updated after installing new windows. Or May be after an OS update. Just go to device manager and select display the right click on it to pop up a list. Click on update driver. Make sure the Internet connection is active

even after trying this the issue didn't get solved , i did get the slider but the thing is even i drag the slider to lowest the brightness remains same and i feel that my pc is also slowed.
Heads up !!! I had everything liked he showed but for me when i activated the Radeon GPU nothing happened, so i had both active and problem wasn't fix.
I had to DESACTIVATE them both, then when i activated the Radeon GPU it did the flickering screen and fix everything!

this video did not help me with my pc
The backlight on a desktop monitor is usually controlled via the controlls on the monitor itself (brightness/contrast/etc) if it is running through HDMI/DISPLAY PORT only. A USB connection is required to control the functions on a monitor via windows as an .EXE file if it comes with that function and you can control it via software. The only other option for a desktop is to go through the NVIDIA control panel or AMD software to change things via the GPU for brightness/contrasts etc settings.

What if I only have NVIDA?
it works only when i have two graphic cards because i have one graphic card in my computer and i am scared because i dont want to enable my graphic card because what if the card stops working after that?
If you have a laptop, usually there is a "hybrid" mode which switches graphics card based on what you are using it for. If you really don't want to enable it, check your processor's graphics as there is an intel/amd integrated driver you can try as it might work too

why does mine says properties instead of the options unable?
i have the same issue, and two graphics adaptors are already enabled , no slider. no control . even when I go to settings and change brightness slider. question: should I connect integrated graphics card to the same monitor which is already connected to dedicated graphics card. my monitor has several ports. the only way that I can adjust brithness level is from monitors menu.
