      Yup, my ergo evaluator said some headrest can be bad, especially non-adjustable ones, as they push your head forward out of alignment with your back

    If your monitors were setup at the correct hight you would not need a headrest! With the right ergonomics your neck will automatically be straight and comfortable!

    Isn’t the idea of the chair being super expensive is that it’s optimised extremely well to the human body. You don’t need a headrest. When you are walking around you never think “I need my head to lean against something”. In a natural human position, your head sits on your shoulders. You have your entire spine as rest.

      This is true. But not having a headrest isn't great when you are leaning back and chilling because you just end up slouching when you get tired of holding your head up. I'm going to get one for this reason. You don't need one if all you do is work in the chair though.

    I have an Aeron and I am telling you, do NOT get a head rest. Take advantage of the fact that every Herman Miller chair is designed to correct your posture so that a support is not needed for your neck. Make your chair comfortable first, then change your setup around the chair.

      nope. I had neck pain when I got my aeron and caved in after a few weeks. Absolutely love mine. Tried it with and without it on for a while and kept putting it back on. My neck is tired after work and I love it. Depends on the person, I suppose

You're doing work or gaming hard, yep 90 degrees, slight recline no headrest is needed - popping out a controller, leaning back, redditting or watching videos - def a headrest is welcome

      What do u mean? I owned the Herman miller embody and aeron. Embody was the worst thing i’ve ever sat in and aeron wasn’t that great after a few hours. I prefer secretlabs greatly

    I’m ngl if you work at a office job or any job that requires long periods of sitting, please get a Herman Miller. The cost of the chair might be a little pricey, buts it’s a great investment.

    The Atlas headrest is 1:1 with the Herman Miller design because the person who started the company Atlas worked for Herman Miller and helped design the Embody chair.
    If you want the best and 1:1 match then I would highly recommend the Atlas.

    No matter which office chair I tested I cannot use a headrest and I can barely use the lower part of the backrest. It just feels so unnatural to be reclined so far backwards, that you can rest more than a lumbar part of your back.

I have both aeron and Titan evo with me right now and greatly prefer the titan evo. aeron causes me pain , evo doesn’t simple as that. If i need to do a 24 hour session, secretlabs is the one

    I bought an office chair with a headrest. Hated it so much I returned it for the same model without a headrest. Significant improvement. Since then I've upgraded to a used Herman Miller, great decision. Haven't even thought about headrests again until watching this video.

    Headrests are only for when you lean back and practically lay down. Using the headrest while upright is actually bad depending on how much time you spend sitting a day, coz your neck muscles would get weaker and not be able to support your head.

    Atlas Headrests makes one for the embody. From the looks of it, it’s a little wider than this one. I have, like it, and think it blends in with the ordinal style pretty well.

      I don't know why this is so hard for some of these commenters to understand. These chairs can lean back a considerable amount, and it doesn't matter how much back support you have when it's your neck and head directly fighting gravity. I don't use my headrest when I'm sitting upright, but I like to lean back occasionally, and not having a headrest in that situation sucks ass.

    HM did think of it and they have stated many times that their view is if the chair posture is correct then a headrest is not needed and only encourages slouching.

    If you ever go to an office supply store that sells Herman Miller, try out an embody. You'll quickly realise you do in fact not need a headrest and that a headrest would only downgrade the ergonomics.

    While the chair is designed to ergonomically position the body for proper posture and keep your spine and neck aligned, if you’re taller and reclined, it can leave a little to be desired. I’m 6’2 and sitting up, it’s fine. However, reclined, my neck isn’t aligned because it isn’t anywhere near contacting the chair. I have an Atlas headrest for this exact reason. Personally, it’s far better than the one in this video. It’s personal preference though.

    The reason the "gold standard of office chairs" doesn't have a headrest is that Herman Miller knows what they're doing. A headrest is actually bad for your posture, your body is built to support your head on its own. This company has been making the gold standard of office furniture since the time your great grandparents were bumpin uglies and getting your great uncles and aunts all over the couch, they know what they're doing.

    Headrests feel so uncomfortable because it keeps my neck forward when I want it to go back.

    my boss got me a herman miller when i got promoted. those chairs are amazing as is, if you have your desk setup correctly you shouldn't need a headrest. but cool idea for sure.

      Yep it's big bucks but they have a 12 year warranty (parts AND labor). The worst part about this is that six years after I bought my Aeron... they released the Aeron 2.0!

    Headrests aren’t really designed for actually resting your head on weirdly. They are designed to minimize whiplash and neck injury if you were to slam into something. So you’ll always find one in a car but never standard in normal chairs.

    I work as consultant and deliver high end office furnitures to companies and private offices, and i haven't experienced anyobe with actual money who buys Herman Miller. They make chairs for influencers and status hunters, Herman Miller is the Gucci of furniture. People with real wealth either buys handmade furniture custom made for them, or they they are smart to pay half for a generic brand that focus on ergonomics rather then branding and status...

    Its not supposed to have a headrest, but there have been times ive wanted to sleep in this chair, but i couldnt because of a lack of head/neck support. This would fix that.
