It's insane to me that the entire education system in North America is rotting from political in Dr. nation. Looking back at my childhood, I don't think I could tell you which way is single teacher I ever had would've voted. That's the way it should be. The arrogance of these teachers to think that they need to impart things that are the domain of the parents is just insane. Their egos are out of control and dangerous.
If you're valedictorian, you have earned the right to speak at graduation. FULL STOP.
@@jasondashney Teachers have said nothing. The student said nothing either. They blocked her speech because they are afraid of what she would say
The valedictorian, the schools highest honored student academically, should be allowed to say whatever they want. Theyve earned it . They could have just limited the scope of her speech.
Hahahahhahah
Good for the School. It's a Graduation and not a political event.
The school made it a political event, this video clip doesn't even come close to explaining what happened, look up the whole story.
Politics aside, listening to valedictorians speak at graduation is extremely boring

@@hoplashoshWhere did he say it was illegal? He called out -- rightfully, I should stress -- something he thought was immoral, funny, or both.
And the hypocrisy of an institution that prides itself in freedom of expression and deep explorations of ideologies, philosophies, arts, and sciences, that bristles if censors or taboos restrict study, choosing to censor their best student exposes some hypocrisy.
It's all pretty insane that the same colleges censoring students are the same ones that were paying Milo Yiannopoulos and other Nazi-esque hucksters a couple years back.
And quoting overly broad yet exceedingly vague threats as the reason is intellectual dishonesty, something higher education allegedly takes a dim view of.

Now THIS is cancel culture.
No it’s called public safety. The students are hostile, violent, and out of control. You have a right to peaceful protest. You don’t have the right to be violent especially in the name of of terrorist organization. There should be an audit to find out what foreign money is coming to USC, the teachers colleges that are creating marxist professors, and administrators. If USC and other colleges can’t do that then they shouldn’t receive federal funding, tax exemptions, and should have their accreditation suspended until they fix this problem.
@@strawberriesncandii When was this valedictorian ever violent? People are afraid of speech, of hearing something they disagree with. Yet being able to tolerate and even engage with viewpoints you disagree with is fundamental to living in a free society. Hearing someone say "from the river to the sea," which has many interpretations (and which is also a right-wing Israeli mantra---part of Likud's manifesto) is not the same thing as violence. People are seriously losing their minds.
Interesting. How many people have been killed or seriously injured in any demonstrations? Would love to see some numbers with sources. If you make a claim about safety, obviously you have lots of evidence that many, many people have been killed in demonstrations that have been across every major city in the US. A “right to speech” isnt an obligation to platform you
Actually, it might be, right? Is this a State College? If so, the constitution prohibits that agency of the State (the college) from restricting or censoring person's speech. And given the context and rational for restricting this student's speech, AFTER already granting her the opportunity to speak, it's clear that this is the State (via the school) violating her Constitutional rights.

The people in these comments would be advocating for black people to fight slavery “less violently.” Though I guess they don’t want black people to have equal rights either, so that would work out for them.
Freedom of speech means the govt can’t censor your speech , that doesn’t mean, your private school, employer, or any other non governmental entity can’t.
Freedom from having to listen to it.
The first amendment states you have the right to say what you want without the government throwing you in jail… it does not state that you get to say what you want without repercussions. A university does not have to allow you to speak, specially when that speech is about supporting genocide and terrorism. Which is what every Pro-Palestinian wants. And it’s kind of ironic that this valedictorian is in support of that when she wouldn’t even be allowed to go to school or speak under Hamas and Islamic law.
@@KalelArwhat the heck are you even talking about? No one supports blacks being slaves except Hamas and Islamic law, they have no problem enslaving people, they’ve been doing it for thousands of years and have never stopped.

Liberals love Israel even more than conservatives (except the evangelical conservatives). Liberals and conservatives are actually very similar in a lot of ways, just liberals are better at pretending not to be racist
The Valedictorians speech wasn't cancelled just because of one's political ideology, it was cancelled over the dissemination of pro Palestinian propaganda, and they don't want that drama and chaos, potential bloodshed, even.
The University has every right to limit what message their students spread since the students are representatives of the University.
As far as freedom of speech goes, it's a University that is open to the Public but, just like a WalMart, the person who owns that property or business can control it however they see fit.
