QD: I think I've run in one pair of Asics in a decade, but recently purchased a pair of Gel Nimbus Lite 2. I have 770km on my first pair of Saucony Endorphin Speed and 280km on my second pair. I needed a long run shoe so got a pair of Nike Invincibles and they caused quadricep tendinitis, so I swapped them for the Gel Nimbus Lite 2. I've only run one 12km run in them so far and I really like them, and no knee pain. The main innovation you missed in your review is 80% of the uppers and 20% of the mid-sole are made from recycled materials, so they're 'eco-friendly' as well.
So is it a lighter, firmer version of the 23 or is it a completely different shoe with a Nimbus name? It's hard for me as a long time Nimbus runner to make a big switch, probably mental more than anything.
Haha ya this is a great question. It's basically a whole new shoe, but I'd say its a better vesion of the older style Nimbus. Now they still make the OG Nimbus, but the Nimbus Lite has some nice upgrades, it's lighter, more sustainable and eco friendly, and no exposed gel (which I like a lot), and basically an updated edgy look. At the same price, side by side, my choice would be easy, Nimbus Lite 2, but if you are a diehard Nimbus runner, the 23 is not a bad shoe either, just depends if you want to try something new.
Hey bud great review and quick question! would these be a good companion to the Clifton 7!? like this as my daily/tempo workouts days and the Clifton 7's long easy/recovery days? or if you have a recommendation id gladly appreciate it!
Yes, absolutely, I actually combo them a bit like this. Although the nimbus is more of a softer plush ride then you'd want for a tempo/threshold shoe, it is a bit faster then the Clifton 7. I am using the nimbus lite as a middle shoe with something like the Hyperion Tempo or the Asics Hyperspeed as my fast shoe, the nimbus as my every day trainer and the clifton or maxroad 4+ as my recovery shoes. I think you'll like the nimbus lite 2 though I've been pretty impressed with it.
@@RunRepeatcom Yes this is basically the 3 shoe rotation I basically had in mind! went ahead and preordered the nimbus lite 2's!! Pumped! Thanks for the info!!
With lower stack heights and 8mm drop its really more of a midfoot strike shoe, but it's kinda on the line. 6mm drop would push it into the midfoot category for sure.
Good question. The Novablast is a little taller at 35mm heel stack vs the 25mm Nimbus lite, and the nova has 10mm drop, the nimbus is 8mm. The novablast is really more ideal for heelstrikers than the nimbus lite but they are fairly similar in the end. I love the Nimubs Lite 2, I think it's for sure worth a try if you are considering both of these shoes.
@@RunRepeatcom out of curiosity, why would it be more ideal for heel strikers? I own the novablasts and the heel is fairly narrow, so it seems like it would be a bit unstable for heel strikers.
It's mostly personal preference. I have had knee problems in the past so lower drop shoes work better for me, but some like higher drop, especially those that have ankle pain or heel strike a bit. Ultimately I like it more in the middle of the drop spectrum. Zero is low, 10-12 is high in my opinion. 6-8 is a bit more in the middle and can work for most people. Thanks for the comment!
It's hard to be really negative since a lot of shoes are pretty fantastic. It's tiny details that can be ancedotal to one tester some times. We try to be as honest as possible, and if we got a truely terrrible shoe we'd say it!

Thanks for this review. Cool you compare to Nimbus 23. Keep it up with the good job. regards from Switzerland
After watching this. I buy it.

@@RunRepeatcom Thanks for the info! I think the Lite 2 looks super comfortable, and I could probably adjust to it quickly since it's an Asics.
Unfortunately the Lite 2 is quite expensive here in Europe. I can get the Nimbus 23 around 40-50 bucks cheaper.
Ya the standard Nimbus and the Nimbus lite are really two different products. The lite has a lot of new tech which may add to the price difference.
Asics are notorious for being a half size too big, so generally go a half size down from usual.
Thanks for the input!
Would you do a comparison with the new New Balance 1080 V11 coming out in a month? Nice job with your reviews.
Let me see if we can get our hands on the NB. Thanks for watching and the comment!
how good is outsole durability? cause it looks pretty minimal

Does the shoe have gel at the front ? I just bought these :)
Is this for midfoot striker or heel striker?

I like a 10 mm drop

Asics needs to fire the person designing the look and colour ways for their shoes.
I like them haha
I would typically agree with you, but these and the Kayano Lites do have a totally new look for Asics and I am digging it!
I agree
The Lite 2 though and the Noosa Tri 13 for example look amazing imo!
Why is this channel so apologetic about their cons/criticisms. Are they reviewers or promoters?
