You are amazing Voja, a modern Renaissance man; excellent design and calm presentation skills. As a super-beta tester you drive the e-ink industry forward with your intelligent functions oriented review/critique. Standards are a two edge sword though, as it can stymie creativity for the leaders such as SuperNote. Its intriguing that your opt for both SuperNote and Quaderno formats for the same MDO & MMP - one wonders how you juggle between them (let alone all the others you are attempting to track in their updates). WELL DONE as always - the most productive person out there AND has gone through house moving at the same time!
Thank you very much :) Well, The Quaderno sits on the side with filled in schedule for the day, and I literally use it like I would use a Notepad, with daily notes for the daily schedule, so the passive one. Supernote is my Power Notebook, the one where I do all of the chaos of the day, the active one. I tried using the MDO and MMP on the Supernote, while using everything else, but I found it more convenient to have the schedule list staying there, without the need to "flip back to it". However, with the update 2.9 and the ability to integrate MDO and MMP into a Supernote Notebook and utilize links and titles there, I am very much so looking at changing up my workflow and using the MDO and MMP on the Supernote as well, because that opens up a lot more connections in the existing workflow :)
Never explored using titles, apparently now called headers? and links until now. Wow, was I missing out. The way you walked through you use case makes perfect sense and I will now implement in the same fashion. Please do more of these! Thanks Voji.
You’re videos have been so helpful to me since I first started researching e-ink tablets. I accidentally came across the idea while trying to decide to get an iPad or not, and I am so glad I didn’t get an iPad! At first, I didn’t know how I’d use the link feature. But it is invaluable to me as a way to jump to charts and drawings from my chemistry notes instead of taking up space on each page to draw them out. Now I just put a link to the exact chart I need in a different notebook altogether and it really helps me flow through note taking so much easier. Thank you so much for all you do to help people learn how to use this device practically!
I loved my supernote, but the lack of a backlight as I got older was just a deal breaker. Couldn't use it in anything other than perfect conditions and that was a bummer, because it worked great. I get their stance, I just hope somebody will make something of the same build quality and feature set, but with a backlight, and they'll have my money so fast. Was hoping the lenovo paper would do it, but that's clearly not going to happen.
This is the only thing holding me to buy a supernote, they’re the best but as getting older we need some backlight to compensate since e-ink is darker compared to actual paper. Reviews in youtube usually have best light settings but not in real life.
Thank you so much for this. I have always watched your deep guides and updates which are so informative. You help me get the best out of my devices and improve my work flow.
Thank's for the great Video, Voja. Now I understand, why you are pointing out, that the supernote has such a powerful plattform. I would love to have these great options on my reMarkable. I would use it every day. You just did an important video for me. Thank's again.
Thank you for this wonderful commentary. I use my A5x everyday for various life projects. Now I'll be able to organize a more productive workflow for my notetaking and journaling. Supernote just keeps getting better. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to the release of Mars Awakening :)
Thank you for this video and your work, I've followed you for a while, always enjoying your reflections about those devices. And I agree with you on the fact that e-ink devices should aligned themselves with a standard (in fonctionality and why not one day in the note format they use...). The Supernote is truly the best device for writing and organizing notes and this is a prove of that and is the closer to a paper notebooks in the digital world (after all, we can use a table of contents in a notebooks using tabs or post-its for example). The table of content is truly a must in those devices.
Thank you for sharing your workflow! I love using my Supernote and you helped me chose the right one for me. One tip: you don’t have to hold onto the backspace to rename a new note, you can just hit the x on the right hand side of the default file name.
As a fairly recent, Supernote purchaser, I was really excited to see this! Thanks for explaining titles! I’m still a bit unclear on the difference between titles and keywords and when they’re to be used. I think I’ve been using keywords when I ought to have been using titles and links. Thanks Voja!
Voja, this is a wonderful use case video to see how links and titles can be used to optimize any type of notebook. I am utilizing the link function more and more in my workflows. It is a game changer and when combined with the other features the Supernote offers such as being able to add folders to Quick Access has made my device and life much more efficient ! I came from the Remarkable ecosystem as well as having ventured a bit into the Boox world and for my needs the Supernote product keeps leapfrogging these products and are my making note taking and organization better with each upgrade. I think this is what happens when you listen to your user base as Ratta does !! :)
Thank you so much Voja. I have been following your excellent site of resources and reviews for over a year and I bought a BOOX Note Air2 back then. I have been happy with it but lately as you have found it is no longer meeting my work needs and BOOX don’t seem to be making much progress with software. I have just ordered a Supernote A5X so I can use in my work exactly the way as you have described here, with intelligent links, titles and a TOC ❤
Thanks Voya for sharing your usecase scenario and your thoughts. I agree that exporting the Table of contents as boomarks in the PDF exported file would be brillant. I hope the Ratta team has this or will add it on its roadmap (which is public on Trello). Other users use the Supernote differently. In my case, I do field investigation, and simply add each interview I make as a title. I typically have a table of content of 4 or 5 pages at the end of an assignment. It would not be feasible to do table of content, in addition to the internal links. So I do hope this feature will be added soon.
8:00 I agree, different levels of titles would be very handy, I use them all the time in my Markdown documents.I like your conclusion very much, often you get distracted by all the features and possibilities even if they do not really fit your workflow. I think the most important thing is that the device and its functionality fit your workflow and that you enjoy working with it. If you do not enjoy using it every day, then I think you should better save your money.
I ordered an A5X and a Boox device at the same time and I just kept coming back to the A5X. Knowing that I had to get rid of one, it was an easy choice. I use the link and title features a TON - but I haven't used keyword or stars very much. As far as links and titles, I agree that they are complete game changers and my notes would not be the same without them.
it depends on how you set up your workflow. In my case every project has it‘s own folder, each chapter has it‘s own notebook. While I do like that link feature here, I don‘t see it as a must have on my reMarkable, e. g. I use the Tags a lot to organize the pages within a notebook.
@@airestockyI’m curious about how in depth tagging works. When you search by tag, is there a specific view that lets you see everything in a list with that tag in more detail?

Great explanation of wonderful features! I wish my rM2 had this. Now that I've been using the rM2 for many years, all my notes begin to form a messy pile. I wish rM would implement these features! Do any of the other e-ink tablets support written text search?
Thx for your quick reply! @@MyDeepGuide I checked the Mobiscribe Wave B&W review. It look alright, but the bulky size and bugs are a no-go. About the handwriting recognition on the Supernote, is there a downside to ordinary notebooks? Or are they just smaller files?
The handwriting recognition notebooks will consider a lot more battery, as the device will automatically and continually convert your handwriting in the background.
@@MyDeepGuide ah, that's a shame. And thinking upfront about going for which notebook is also difficult. With the Boox devices, does handwriting search work easier?
Yes, it works in regular notebooks, and you don't need to think beforehand. Although Boox handwriting recognition used to be very bad, but recently it has improved, so it's getting better.

@mydeepguide your commitment to defined and intelligent content that is subjectively objective is refreshing. If you are ever interested in partnering to launch an eink product I'd be keen to invest.
Thank you very much for your kindness and support :) It's a thought that has crossed my mind, but nothing more than that, at this point.
is Kindle Scribe pen better than HOM2?
Great explanation of wonderful features! I wish my rM2 had this.
Now that I've been using the rM2 for many years, all my notes begin to form a messy pile.
I wish rM would implement these features!
Do any of the other e-ink tablets support written text search?
All Boox tablets, Mobiscribe and now Supernote, but only for the handwriting recognition notebooks. Ordinary notebooks don't have that functionality.
Thx for your quick reply! @@MyDeepGuide
I checked the Mobiscribe Wave B&W review.
💯‼️
What do you think about Supernote screen share using IP? Does Onyx Boox should make something similar?
I love it, especially because it's local sharing, not over a server. As for what others should do, well, that's up to them :)
Looks like Zettelkasten method.
What pen are you using in that video?
Samsung S6 Lite.
@@MyDeepGuide Thank youuuu
Remarkable, are you listening???
Nope :)
