I think that probably happens way more often than anyone thinks. Maybe not immense wealth but the giving what they have to people who cared and not family that didnt
Sometimes the question that begs to be asked is why 3 kids don't ever want to see their father again and do not want any part of his wealth? Maybe it just wasn't worth it for them. My dad is outright a sociopath but would love to help strangers over his own child and in all honesty at this point I could care less whether he is living or dead. Funny you say that, because something like that happened in my family! 😊 My great, great Aunt died in 1987 at almost 100 years old. Upon her death, my Mom, my Uncle (her brother) and their cousins were to choose items from her estate one at a time after flipping a coin to see who went in what order to be fair. Everyone instantly went for the bigger, more "valuable" items. After 3 or 4 turns of each of them chosing items, my Uncle chose a big hope chest of family pictures going back more than 125 years, (after chosing other sentimental items, rather than expensive items, because he wanted to keep it all of our family history together.) After everything had been divided, the estate probate lawyer read one last addendum to the will. My great, great Aunt stipulated that whoever chose the hope chest of family pictures, would inherit multiple properties in Big Bear, California, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and a few other places I can't remember. That land was worth a few million dollars collectively back in 1987. I know he held on to most of them until about 2005 when he was getting much older and it was difficult to manage all of them. I can't even imagine how much he sold them for seeing what they were worth 18 years prior. 😳 You can imagine how upset my Mom and their Cousins were and they thought of contesting the will but it was airtight. (They all got a fairly large cash inheritance as well, so they shouldn't have been upset, but money does funny things to family.) I didn't know the full story until about 10 years ago and thought it was hilarious. To this day, I LOVE all of those pictures and was so happy when my Uncle gave my son the hope chest for his first birthday (he had converted it into a toy box with safety lifts so my son wouldn't hurt his fingers if it closed on him) and I saw from traveling documents that the chest had traveled with my Great Great Aunt and her husband all over the world to Europe, Africa, including Egypt and Asia in the early 1900's as a big piece of steamer luggage. It was such a cool item to have and is one of my most treasured items. I am very close to my Uncle (both of my parents died when I was a teenager and he never had children) and I'm so happy to have all of those mementos one day. They were in the right hands all along, as family and our ancestors are VERY important to my Uncle and myself. It's cool when people do things like this in their wills. It truly shows who are worthy of what they were given. Not everyone cares about "money" and I'm so grateful to have him in my life as a Dad figure. ❤ Have a wonderful day!🫶

What's so unbelievable with this is that as soon as someone in the auction firm knew about this specific in the will, there would have been a super high stake auction for the portrait of Ruth since they would all know it gives the whole collection and they would have told their friends in high places and the painting would have sold for like 200 millions or something. What's so unbelievable with this is that as soon as someone in the auction firm knew about this specific in the will, there would have been a super high stake auction for the portrait of Ruth since they would all know it gives the whole collection and they would have told their friends in high places and the painting would have sold for like 200 millions or something. IRL people are snakes
