Just turned 60, been vegan 40+ years, have the same body now as when I was 20 and feel very healthy. My dad still warns me I'm gonna get "sick" without meat.
Vitamin B-12 is one of the cheapest supplements out there. Recommended for those that are plant-based (many omnivores are deficient, too). Make sure your supplement is clean (no additives). Ask your doc to test for this for your routine labs.
Certain amount of excercise and sunshine is part of the diet as it pumps lymph and fixates calcium to the bones and preserve muscle mass also to respect human daylight circadiam rithym and to sleep as much as necessary plus I like this breathing to go pans techniques
Can you please help us demonstrating how 2000 calories of whole foods plants can result in satisfactory amount of ALA and LA? I struggle to calculate this assuming 2000 calories of sweet potatoes.
I@@billdublewhopper3064I still think it's good to demonstrate by calculation only once to ensure that 2000 calories of sweet potato can provide sufficient amounts of LA and ALA. I understand that you believe the daily recommendations are useless. If yes, then we have to show that these daily recommendations are meaningless
I went vegan 10 yrs ago with no added fat or oil and tried a 4 day fast. I wondered if I would die or not with no meat protein every day. I did shock my body, my hormone levels went down and more wrinkles and weight loss. Still pretty much a vegan but added some oil for the hormones and wrinkles.
Pete, I read somewhere on Ruth Heidrich's site that she said she has a resting pulse rate of 44, wow isn't that super low? What's your opinion of the safe range from the low end to the highest? Specifically for the resting heart rate in the morning just before getting out of bed.
This is normal for people that do endurance exercise. I am 66 and my pulse is at 42. That is good and healthy. I bike 20 000km per year and run 2500km per year and do ice swimming 4 times per week during winter. Never be sick.
Hi Dr. Roger's, very helpful video. I know you said you eat one meal a day. Could you please share what you currently eat in a day to get all vitamins and minerals. I would like to try omad but worry I won't get the vit and minerals needed in a day. Thank you
Greetings Doc, what do you think of the $60 cholesterol devices from Amazon? Are they worth it? Have you tried them? They monitor total cholesterol, which I'm ok with, not looking for the expensive devices, thanks!
Microbiome issue. Sometimes the gut is off or not optimized for new foods/different foods. I'm omnivore currently with no immediate plans to change. I still like hearing from this Dr.
@@enough425 Never but as a kid I grew up on meat mostly beef. When I hit my 20's got into workingout and really upped the protein consumption adding lots of whole eggs. You might say I have the gut for it since a youth. That could be why. Always been omnivore so plants were always a part of our diet as well. Even plants alone never caused me issues so I feel lucky. You didn't ask but prebiotics were a game changer in my life especially this l reuteri that's popular right now. Definitely enhanced my mood, sleep and libido. I didn't need it for the gut but many swear it changed their lives as this is what it's mainly used for.
Fiber gets things moving. Plant-based is high fiber. Many otc for constipation is just fiber (some not-recommended chemical laxatives, too). If you still have constipation after going plant-based, see a GI doc... could be something else going on.
Yeah, I'm full tilt all in. Just signed up on McDougall's cert program a few days ago. Thank you for your help

Just curious if you put any kind of dressing on your salad and if so, what?

Please make a video about severe atopic dermatitis and the connection to diet

Do you recommend wheat germ? Why? Or, why not?
Ordered "Rich Dad Poor Dad". Should be here soon. Thanks Dr. Rogers 🤙
See if I can get "rich" 😂
I like how simple this is. I will say that it’s easy to end up low in calcium if the vegetable part isn’t substantially low oxalate greens.
Simple actionable advice. Thank you!

You don't need to calculate micronutrients. The body doesn't work like that.
Yeah, you're assuming the relevance of irrelevant information. Body loves whole foods. Eat until full. Done.

Starting on carnivore today
Why?
Non of those populations though completely avoided animal protein or fats that you mention to be skinny though
You don't have to completely avoid. But many of those societies never ate ribeye steaks, eggs or dairy. Never
